I assume you mean because there's no way he'd want to play? What are you thinking the cheese edm lineup looks like? They just gonna skip it like in 2013?

I wouldn't try to guess what Deadmau5 is actually going to do in any given year. He talked a lot of crap about Ultra and then played a fill-in set when Avicii couldn't perform. I'd hate to say it's about the money, but if GV offered Mau5 enough money, he'd probably settle his differences.

its not deadmau5.
gv reportedly doesnt want anything to do with him.
so the amount of money will be zero because there wont be an offer.
they dont need him anyhow, cheese heads will show up in flocks no matter.

Back in 2010 Deadmau5 and Tommy Lee landed a helicopter backstage and Paul Toilette (sp?) confronted them and was extremely upset. Apparently he told both of them that they were permanently banned from Coachella.
If memory serves me correctly, they were pre-headliner in 2010...def not headliner. What a show that was!! The whole show was fantastic, but to hear Mike Patton sing Michael Jackson's "Ben" was just incredible!!! Of the three Coachella's I've attended, it was definately one of the better performances!

As a Packers fan I resent you using that term that way

I was only able to snag weekend 2 in the pre sale. I might go both weekends if I like the lineup.
As for Deamau5/Tommy Lee. Supposedly both are banned from the festival but I’ve heard from several people that Tommy was camping in the Safari tents a couple years ago. So I wouldn’t rule deadmau5 out completely.
Sooo....what exactly do I need to do/sacrifice to get a Weekend 1 pass to my name? Since I stupidly missed the pre-sale, I want to be fully prepared for general sale (or, if I'm lucky, snag a pre-sale pass from someone who can't go).

The key to getting a presale ticket was lurking message boards (here, Coachella, and reddit) and keeping an eye out for the direct links that let you by pass the wait room and go straight to ticket buying. A lot of the people I know who got tickets did so that way.
Yup, I figured as much. Unfortunately I didn't find out about all of the presale tricks until it was already over. I'm going to have to fend with all the other heathens during the general sale, or hold off until 2016.

My group is one ticket short right now, so I'm right there with you.

Start stalking Coachella message boards. Either you'll get info to be ready for the general sale or someone will post one for sale. Good luck!
Oh, also, book a no-deposit room (if you can find one)with booking.com just in case you do score a ticket. That is, unless you plan on camping.

Fortunately Dave Maynar has been kind enough to allow me to split his room, so lodging is covered. I will probably just take my chances during the main sale in Jan/Feb 2015 and hope for the best.

Are y'all staying at the Best Western? I know quite a few of us will be there. Party tiiime!
Big Day Out had terrible ticket sales this year so I think that's the real reason. I wouldn't be worried about Coachella's being able to book headliners.
It's way more complicated than that, though that is a factor. One of the big issues is that it's a touring festival, and Australia has not that many cities with a whole lot of nothing in between. Do you bother paying to send everyone to Perth, 2700km from the nearest city, when you know attendance will be so lacklustre? That makes it about as viable as Lollapalooza Alaska. It's also a 20-something-year-old festival that most of its young demographic have no brand loyalty towards. All that, plus festival market saturation, and a very 1990s-heavy lineup this year that predated most of the attendees, created a perfect storm of meh. Given that C3 owns the festival, I think it's very possible we will see it return as a non-touring festival after its hiatus, much like Lollapalooza did.
While we're at it, can we all just take a minute to appreciate what a supreme dicknose AJ Maddah is? It's like he saw the Capp Dogg parody account and said "yes! This is exactly how a festival head needs to act! ...only, he's just not out there enough."
