I know it's been a few days, but I needed that time to get back into the swing of things in Ohio. Here are my thoughts on Weekend 1. ... My favorite shows were: 1. Ride. The crowd wasn't huge, but that allowed me to get seriously close, allowing the force of the two-pronged guitar attack to wash over me. Epic. 2. Florence & The Machine. I seriously had no idea the how would be that energetic. I went just to appease my wife, and I'm glad I did. 3. Father John Misty. I'm hoping to find a recording of this. If so, I'd listen to it over and over. 4. Caribou. We got well into the tent, and the show was joyous, especially Can't Do Without You. 5. Tame Impala 6. Royal Blood. Serious rock. 7. Jungle 8. Jack White 9. Sylvan Esso. I've seen them three times in recent months, and they get better and better. 10. Lykke Li. Another surprise. I could go on and on naming great shows and moment, such as working my way up near the rail for Panda Bear or being up close when Ezra K. came out with SBTRKT. I saw so much great music, and I initially thought the short set times would bother me, but in retrospect they were perfect. For a lot of the shows I saw, it felt like there was no filler.
I've been to a ton of fests and Coachella, hands down, might have had the most awesome aesthetic. Being in that field at night and seeing the pulsing caterpillar, the overhead balloons, all the lights flashing, Corporate Headquarters and the other art was awe inspiring. My wife agreed with me on that count.
We also were impressed by the food options, both inside and outside of VIP. My wife at one point turned to me after eating some killer pho noodles and spring rolls and said, "We eat better here than at home - and it's a festival!" At that moment, we also were standing by a sushi bar in the rose garden.
If there was anything about the fest that irked me, it was that some people appeared to be there just to be seen, not for the music. Still, once I realized that fact would allow me to get as close as I wanted to Ryan Adams, Father John Misty, Jenny Lewis, etc., etc., etc., I started enjoying that aspect of the fest.
Overall, we may be returning in 2016. If we do, we're going to tack on an extra day in front of the fest and behind it to do some exploring. That was our only regret.
I really wish they'd make the Yuma 21+ and serve alcohol and have bathrooms. The majority of under 21 kids do their dumbass shuffling dance at Sahara anyways.
Last year they had it splint into two sections, with one being 21+. Not sure why they didn't do it again this year, maybe the lines were too long.

Though I'm not sure allowing draft beer cups in there would be a great idea. That floor is already slick enough, there would be tons of beer spilled inside there if they allowed alcohol.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Kanye West just came out with The Weeknd and played like 6 songs.
Ouch. Were there any things like that last year? Where some big name came out only for one weekend?
I wanna say Pharrell had a hand full of big names come out with him both weekends, different artists each weekend. I could be making that up though. I don't remember any of them being as big as Kanye though. That's gotta be one of the biggest surprise guests in recent years.
So those who stayed at the Best Western, how was it? I'm currently staking out hotel deals for next year and if the reviews from you guys are good I'm going to try and get a deal again.

It was far nicer than I expected. I was picturing a shithole. The only negatives I have are the distance from the fest, and every morning I took a semi cold shower. The hotel said it was cause everyone was showering at the same time. Well, yea, people shower in the mornings every day.
But even if I knew the shower would be cold again, I'd 100% stay there again at that $60 price point.
