Bought Columbus tickets via pre-sale, Cleveland being Cleveland, and the event being held at Gonorrhearena, you can only get through with Amex at this point. Already excited for this tour.

Good God that was more money than I usually spend on one show, but I'll be in the pit for the Nashville show!
Possibly Stupid Question: how do you know you got a pit ticket? Did it say "GA Pit"? Our tickets just said GeneralAdm but I know there were two price levels.... we ended up with the more expensive ones, so I'm hoping that means pit ??
Well I guess I don't know for sure, but I remember selecting floor tickets when searching and picked the most expensive option. Ultimately it says GENDAM on my ticket and there's no seat assignment.
Aw, that was quick. It's not like I said Reflektor sucks or anything, they're just becoming a very pretentious band, or maybe it's just Win Butler. But I think you're being mislead in thinking it's not required:
They clearly have an idea of what they want to force the crowd to look like.
And this person said it much better than I could have:
Trying to force otherwise ordinary rock shows into the special category strikes me as presumptuous—an attempt to reinforce the band’s status as capital-A Artists. But Arcade Fire is no longer an indie darling playing intimate general-admission venues: They’re releasing albums that top pop charts and playing arenas named for the likes of Verizon, Pepsi, and Comcast. Asking attendees to dress up might seem to restore an air of specialness to unspecial tour stops at unspecial concrete behemoths that double as ice rinks and basketball courts—but nothing about a routine date in an arena decked out in corporate branding is arty.
Look, I don't dislike the band, I just think they're starting to let this sh*t go to their heads a bit and should reel it back in.

For those without facebook
To everyone really upset about us asking people to dress up at our shows… please relax. It's super not mandatory. It just makes for a more fun carnival when we are all in it together. So far these have been the best shows we have ever played. See you soon. Love, Arcade Fire

I think the dressing up/costumes thing sounds fun, it makes me wish I was seeing them in a non-fest setting as well. But I like that sort of sh*t, obviously.
Perhaps they shouldn't have made it out to be MANDATORY at first, if it's not really.....ya know, mandatory.

Because, in general, when you tell people they don't have to do something, they don't do it

Arcade Fire side-show announced for January... awwww yiss.
Mandatory was a poor choice of words, but I don't think there's anything wrong with encouraging fans to dress up. It was really nice seeing so many people dressed to the nines for MMJ @ Madison Square Garden NYE five years ago. Nobody's going to be denied entry for showing up in a t-shirt and jeans, so where's the beef?
That said, it is a little strange for some of these venues. I am sure the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville is a fine venue, but I'm guessing it doesn't see many tuxes and ballgowns.
Hey!! Thanks a lot for this! Ended up getting tickets for the Philly show, i wanted to be on the floor. But still got section 104 seats so i'll take it. Thanks so much

Glad to hear it.
Sorry to be the spoiler of bad news though, but there will be more floor tickets available tomorrow. They only release so many of each section for the presales.

Alas my eyes swell with water with this news.....
Sorry
I figure this tour will sell well, maybe you could sell the other tickets and try for floor tomorrow.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I have pit to ATL and some seats for Brooklyn. I will absolutely be dressing up - more costume, less formal. But certainly glitter, sequins, and feathers will be involved.
