Who has any PS4 game reviews? I have two so far...
1. "Call of Duty: Ghosts" - good graphics, but not a big improvement upon the last two in the series aside from getting to play in space and play as a dog. I always feel empty after playing these games since the characters and plot are so vanilla. I am not big on online-play, so this review is mainly for the solo-game (which is only about 5 hours long). I'd give it a C+. Not bad, but not great.
2. "Killzone: Shadow Fall" - I am only 5 hours into the game, but I love this game. Great controls and outstanding graphics! I haven't played the other games in this series, but I have been impressed with this game, so far. I will grade it once I complete it.
The PS4, in general, has been impressive. No lagging and outstanding graphics... plus I love the new menu option. I also love the 'sharing' feature on the controller for Twitter (or FB).

I just started playing mine tonight. I only have AC4 right now but am probably going to get Madden soon. It's not the characters models are so much better versus PS3 as it is that everything feels so much more detailed. It really helps with the immersion factor.
You may want to check out the thread here bonnaroo.proboards.com/thread/23325/video-games. I think we may be the only two next gen people so far, but I am trusting that @hljott will steal one from work soon.
Amazon had a great buy 2 get 1 free deal and I got AC:BF as the freebie. I will check it out next. I have heard great things about it!
I saw that. They unfortunately ran it when I was a) away from the computer and b) broke. I have liked what I have seen so far, but I am only like an hour in. Also, I have the sandbox game issue where I get distracted. For instance, I go to Havana at the beginning then just ran around synching the 8 viewpoints rather than advancing the story.
I am ready to tackle that game. I haven't tried the previous AC games in the series. I love open world environments like Skyrim (even though it took me 80 hrs to beat that game).
I am getting nervous that Dark Souls 2 is not going to be available on the PS4. The creator said he was interested in developing it for the new, next gen system but so far I have only see PS3, X-Box 360, and PC mentioned on Amazon, etc. Dark Souls started lagging towards the end on PS3 (as most games do) and that will drive a gamer crazy.

P.S. Hooray for an avatar!
Actually, I'm trying to get myself an Xbone right now...
edit: But yeah, we still have about 1,000 PS4s currently at work. They're only there as replacements currently, so in the event someone has to send one back, we can immediately ship out the replacement.

I never got around to playing Skyrim (mostly because it might kill my comp and I heard the console version was lacking). AC is one of those open world games where you have to progress to a certain point in the story before you are really set out into the open world. They tend to have the first bit of the game where they introduce you to a lot of the game concepts one by one then unleash you to do whatever you want. AC4 does not appear to be an exception to this rule.
Did you get Playstation Plus with yours? I got a year, and one of the free games for this month, Contrast, looks interesting to me.

I honestly would like to hear about the Xbone when you get it. As I have said previously in the video games thread, it's so hard to get an honest review on the internet because everything is just busting at the seams with fanboys being idiots. I don't have anything against the XBox line. I am just more familiar with Playstation and it has never disappointed me.

Dark Souls 2 will be PS3, not sure about PS4, though... there are literally no games I'm dying to play on the PS4 for the foreseeable future. I'll do my usual and wait a couple years until the library of games is up to snuff.
And 80 hours in Skyrim is too little, actually.
Edit: and on the topic of Dark Souls 2, I really hope they kind of scrap the more open, colorful palate of Dark Souls and go back to the tight, claustrophobic, and dark feel of Demon's Souls. I found that game so much more appealing in terms of atmosphere, even though I loved the hell out of Dark Souls... Demon's Souls has to be my number one game of the last generation.

I was able to finish everything in Skyrim in 80... I do recommend that game to anyone who had the time, though. Just not on the PS3. The lagging towards the end will drive a gamer crazy.
I preferred Dark Souls over Demon Souls. I loved the colors and the characters (especially the guy in the tower who is almost impossible to kill). Ornstein and Smough was like climbing Mount Everest... ha

I haven't signed up for the Playstation Plus, but will check that game out... looks like fun. I kind of hope they eventually release the new GTA on the PS4. I know it'll be too slow on the PS3.
I've never owned an x-box console before, but I've been reading good things about the new system. One of these days when I'm not broke from PS4, Wii U, and Bonnaroo maybe I can scrap up enough money to invest in one. In the distant, distant future. If only for Halo.
XBOX ONE OR GTFO! *Xbox One may or may not function properly upon release, but rest assured, it's potential will be unmatched*
Haha. I love how everyone has reported these new console failures like it is some huge shock. There's always a high error rate at launch, but haters want to point to each console failing as some signal that it is a huge turd.

It's like they're gonna be broken forever right!?! Either way, I'm waiting for at lease 3 months before going Xbox One
I'm just gonna claim this is a new console thread since I can't be bothered to start a separate thread for the Xbone.
I'm likely to get Madden 25, but I really don't know what else peaks my interest for games right now. I'm gonna need something to tide me over until games start getting released on a regular basis next year.
Has anyone tried Battlefield? I've never tried a game in that franchise but someone was telling me earlier it was kind of interesting. Or at least the new game was good.

I used to play the f*ck out of Bad Company 2. I don't have the time to dedicate to being okay at multiplayer though, so I haven't played either 3 or this one.
In other news, my first encounter with the new touchpad button on the controller was the other day when I spent 20 minutes trying all the regular buttons then searching the in-game manual in AC4 because I couldn't figure out how to bring up the big map. Lo and behold, it was the huge button in the middle of the controller that does it.

I'm not big on multiplayer games, either. I might have to check it out. I had to use the touchpad for either Call of Duty or Shadow Fall to swipe... but can't remember which game. I am glad you said that so that I will be prepared when I start AC4. ha I'm about midway through Shadow Fall and love it so far.

I had about 170ish hours put into Battlefield 3 on my 360. The campaign, of course, is worth missing, but it was one of the best multiplayer experiences I found.

I watched a couple of walkthrough videos for Shadow Fall. It uses the swipe to control your drone's behavior. It did seem pretty interesting from what I saw, but I will probably go with Madden for game #2 because I wear some football out.
I haven't tried a Madden game in years, but might give it a try, too. I'm usually more of a college football fan, but watch the NFL if the Giants, Broncos, Saints, or Titans are playing. I've seen some good reviews on the Madden game. I will definitely be ready for NCAA Football '15.

You know EA lost the NCAA license, right? I too prefer NCAA, but I am not sure when we will get an NCAA game for next gen.

Wow - I hadn't heard that. Wonder what happened? You would think they would be raking in the dough (both parties) after all of the editions that have come out each year.
Hopefully, a good company will pick up the series or start a new one.

From the WikipediaOn July 17, 2013, the NCAA announced that as a result of the recent legal disputes between the association, Electronic Arts, college athletes, and others regarding the usage of college athletes' likenesses in video games (which is currently barred by the NCAA because of the concept of sport amateurism), they would not renew their licensing deal with EA. However, the expiration of the license only affects the use of the NCAA's trademarks in the games; teams and other events are licensed from schools individually or through organizations such as the Collegiate Licensing Company—who announced on the same day that they would extend its own licensing deal with EA through 2017. As such, EA ensured that with these existing deals in place, it would still be able to produce future versions of the franchise without the NCAA license (as it did prior to 1997); EA Sports' executive vice president Andrew Wilson announced that the next edition of the franchise was already in development, and would "[still] feature the college teams, leagues, and all the innovation fans expect from EA Sports."
However, after the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 conferences announced that they would not license their trademarks to EA; the company announced on September 26, 2013 that it would not make a college football game for 2014
