Galactic is great but it's the same shit every time. Since they've got Maggie it's gotten better, but I'm cool with only seeing them once a year at Mardi Gras unless they are playing a festival I'm already at or something convenient and cheap/free.
For my tastes personally, Kung Fu is a million times more fun than Galactic. I do seem to hear the same songs with them at every show, I don't know if that's just how they operate or if they just play a standard set in the South for people that don't know them.
I can get down harder to Kung Fu than almost any other band out there right now that isn't a GD offshoot or live Zappa performance.

They mix it up in CT but I could see them playing a standard set down south. I saw them play a local one day fest in CT in a room that holds 75 people max with The McLovins opening for them. It was a glorious moment in CT musical history
Ok guys I know this is totally off topic but I know a few of your live in the NOLA area. I'm gonna be in New Orleans October 4th and 5th. Gonna be in town to see Phantogram at the republic and somehow or another I completely missed the fact that Beck is gonna be at the HOB on the 5th or else I would've bought tickets to that show as well. If anyone hears of two tickets for sale please let me know. I've checked all the aftermarket sites and the prices are pretty outrageous. If anyone can help I'll be eternally grateful. Thanks guys
Shit I bought Beck tickets directly from dicketmaster when they went on sale and the prices were $106.25 each. Anything up to twice that price isn't really outrageous considering how small of a venue that he's playing. Just found these on craigslist for $125 each: neworleans.craigslist.org/tix/4671078482.html jump on em', mang

thanks for the info bud. Didn't realize they were so expensive face value. I'm definitely gonna get on those if I can.

Thanks for making me think for a second this was happening during Voodoo. Jerk.

Allen Toussaint oooooh
That's gonna be a good show. I caught some of Toussaint at Jazzfest. PHJB rules, and I dug Beats both times I saw them.
Might go see Break Science this Friday night. I don't really like the douchebag factor at the republic, but it's not Thursday and since break science are actually cool, maybe the bro-chumps will be elsewhere. Haven't seen much lately except Katey Red 2 wknds ago and Nik Turner. But there is an assload of shows coming, and Voodoo is only a hair over 5 weeks out. :cheer:
Turns out I'm going to be in New Orleans The week/weekend of this festival. I'm going to try and sneak in to see Foo Fighters but other than that I won't be attending the festival. It's also my birthday weekend. If anyone wants to meet up (or has a good idea on how to sneak in) during the week let me know!

For sure, Toussaint is a legend and the rest of the bill is stellar too. Definitely worth the price tag.

Don't know how easy it is to sneak into Voodoo since they've moved to the new spot at City Park and started using those damn RFID tags on the bracelets.
At the very least you can hang out in de bayou across the way and listen for free. Some of my cheapskate friends did that for The Cure last year and said they could hear it fine.

Bayou St. John I want to say.
Thanks for the info. I'm just looking for a fence to hop

If you wanna get in my pants I can sneak you in.
Is it bad that in my head I didn't even hesitate? Now I wonder how far I'd take it to see Foo Fighters
I feel like it won't be too hard for her and I to find a weak spot to sneak in (not your pants). There can only be so much security and by Sunday I'm sure everything will be pretty relaxed.

I'll keep an eye out for any loopholes and let you know.

Got a tip from Jabco [tm] who sent over the code at Ticket Fly for Break Science tomorrow night at Republic 2 for the price of 1. Code is, oddly enough, breaksciencetwoforone. Total cost came out to be $22.02 with tickets at will call. It will be good to see Quickie Mart, and I don't know Space Jesus, but whatever. Doors are at 11:55pm, so it's gonna be a late one. :help:

Am I the only one not from NOLA who hates when this thread gets bumped for general NOLA stuff? Every time I'm like "Ohhh, must be another late night show announcement" or something equally interesting related to the festival.

Maybe and sorry. But it's all leading up to Voodoo. Badass on Tim and Eric. You know that was going to be insane.

Ah. Start a nola thread somewhere on Inforoo then.

In years past, before Hangout was the biggest festival in the world, the Hangout thread kind of became the "what is going on in the Gulf Coast region" thread. Looks like the Voodoo thread has become the NOLA thread.
I definitely could see the use of an all purpose "Pensacola -> NOLA" thread for discussing various live music goings ons. I need all the help I can get identifying cool shows to hit up.

Security loopholes will be posted here during the fest. Also, birthday shots!
