It's actually halloween on friday of this year. tight dick.
Who y'all want?
Tool (I have a feeling they're going to be Voodoo's # 1 target this year and I haven't seen them in over a decade) Portishead (I know, but I'll settle for Depeche Mode or Arcade Fire) Black Sabbath / Iron Maiden (I mean, come the fuck on already? neither have played nola since the 80's I think)
It looks like MOEMS is the weekend before. I would do MOEMS every year if it was just a 2 hour drive from me like Voodoo. Depending on work/finances/vacation, I may try to do MOEMS or FFF this year too.
I say "Good" because the 4 festivals I've been going to for the past several years are Hangout, Voodoo & Jazzfest & Wanee and I'd like to think that there will be some diversity between them.
We might actually get Outkast though. I was just being an ass. Voodoo got Jack White the same year Hangout got him....5 months apart so no radius clause. And Voodoo is a completely different type of festival than Hangout for the most part as far as who it draws. So I could definitely see them booking them.
Guess I will base my opinion on whether or not that would matter to me after their set @ Hangout. I'm not a hiphop guy and I don't listen to Outkast but I happened upon all of their stuff in my iTunes (thanks to a friend who loaned me his hard drive) last night and my girlfriend and I rocked out all night. I'm imagining the show will be a good one. But will it be good enough?

Well the good thing is if they aren't great live, there will be at least 2 other acts to see during a headliner at Voodoo (1 or which will be great and the other will be a huge UNTZ/EDM act). You won't have that luxury at Hangout.

Let's just hope they get the stages right this year so we're not hearing the Flambeau or the EDM stage on top of the main stage. Or the main stage on top of whatever little stage it was that Moon Taxi played on.
Great views from up close or elevated balcony, free carnival rides, clean bathrooms, exclusive food vendors and bar. Not bad considering how cheap it is in comparison to other fests.

So exclusive, but not free booze or food? Not bad really if so considering the price. Thanks schlong.

So, I'm thinking it's safe to assume that Outkast will be touring through the fall, not just summer festivals. Great news for us as we can't do a fest til later in the year.

Thinking about doing this fest or one of the other late year fests (ACL mostly). I'd love to do MOEMS but it'd be too tricky for my midwest friends to get to. Voodoo tends to have a couple headliners I like but not much else, although the price is pretty attractive.
I can't tell from the website, where exactly is the venue (I've never been to NO). Are hotels walkable to the venue or is it a shuttle thing? Do they have official after parties? Also, will ticket prices increase significantly once the lineup comes out? Ideally I'd like to wait and see who's at ACL vs this before deciding, but it may be worth it do just roll the dice knowing that I'll at least get to see Outkast here (and probably ACL for that matter).
It's in City Park in the area they now call the Festival Grounds.
Hotels aren't walkable, but there is easy streetcar access. It's not really a hard place to get to/from. There are always good late shows, though I don't think there's anything ever really "official." Tickets were like $200 once the lineup came out last year and the prices were raised again at the gate.
You'll want to get a hotel closer to the late night action anyway. I would book hotel early before the moderately priced ones fill up. There will be after shows at just about every venue in the city. Some will have acts that are playing the fest (which could be considered official...I know Reignwolf was last year and VIP bracelet holders got in for free), but most will have stuff not at the fest. Maybe we'll get another 3 day WSP run that you could catch the first night of on thursday. horn, you're a huge spreadhead right?
You'll be walking distance, a streetcar ride, or a cheap cab ride from every venue that matters if you stay in the Warehouse District, Central Business District, French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, or anywhere on St. Charles Avenue.
