will be debating between this, ACL, and Life is Beautiful prob go with the best lineup. any rumors out there other than Outkast? also how much does Vodoo cost?
There's no way we get Prince with him being at Essence Fest. Goddammit I don't want to pay $200 just to see him there from nosebleed section of superdome.
It's in City Park in the area they now call the Festival Grounds.
Hotels aren't walkable, but there is easy streetcar access. It's not really a hard place to get to/from. There are always good late shows, though I don't think there's anything ever really "official." Tickets were like $200 once the lineup came out last year and the prices were raised again at the gate.

40% Nobody fucking knows. I already said months ago that I FEEL like they will be Voodoo's top choice...it's just a matter of Tool actually accepting festival offers this fall.

Would voodoo do everything in their power to book Tool? Yes. Tool can sell out the UNO in hours. The pull for locals alone would be worth it to voodoo financially.

Yeah i heard. I posted that before Adam Jones and Maynard publicly said it was a joke. Still hoping they'll be there though on the chance they decide to expand their tour. Plus Tool on Halloween weekend in New Orleans would be unforgettable.

Well, this festival falls on my bday weekend and is close to home so it sounds like it was meant to be. I don't really know new orleans that well, any advice with hotels would be great. I know someone above me listed the areas for late night but I have no clue lol. also, when do they normally announce the lineup? I think someone else mentioned prices go up once the lineup is revealed? what does VIP get you vs GA? sorry if i'm repeating previous questions!!

Hotels: generally the french quarter or the CBD. Not sure what prices are now, but they will get really expensive as the date approaches. Try and book a refundable room now if you even thinking of going. Also add parking to the total cost of the hotel, most FQ hotels charge almost $40/day for parking. The cheaper alternative is to stay in Metarie, if you have a car and are OK with driving after the fest. But then you aren't in the middle of the action for late night craziness. Your call.
There are a variety of ways to get to the fest from the FQ. The streetcar runs straight to the festival grounds, or you can cab it there, or pay for one of those Voodoo shuttles. If you stay in Metarie you probably have to drive, but I guess you could get a cab, but it would be expensive.
LN fun: its new orleans so whateva. Frenchmen St, bourbon st at least once if you've never been.

VIP gets you a private VIP area near the main stage, "front row" standing room only area at the main stage, VIP bathrooms, access to VIP food options (you still have to pay. food is good but the food elsewhere in the fest is just as good IMO), option to purchase VIP parking. ^wat he said Also, I would go ahead and book a room now before the lineup comes out (you can always cancel up to day before check in at no cost at most places). I actually booked a room yesterday at Motel 6 on Old gentilly and it was less than $200 for 3 nights before tax. Most places are going to be charging more than that per night.
We'll update this thread with late night shows when they're announced.
The main upside to VIP is basically being able to get close to the headliners without having to stand up close through 2 or 3 acts without pissing yourself. I was able to get close (within 20ft of stage) all three nights last year by showing up 5 minutes before the headliner started. It's even easier to get close for other acts on the main stage...can walk in during the middle of a set and be 10ft away. There's also an area for elevated viewing that's pretty nice.
I'm on my phone so it's hard to quote and respond. But thanks for the detailed information. I'll get online tonight and see what I can find. I like to have a game plan especially when spending that kind of money.

new orleans is amazing. the greasy dark blood of funk pumps through its veins. i hop in my car and drive for two hours and i'm in another planet.

My top 3 headlining wishlist rite now would be eminem, foo fighters, and blink 182 others that I would enjoy as headliner if not all 3 would be jack white, Coldplay, black sabbath, and tool!!! On undercards would like to see cage the elephant, kendrick lamar, chvrches, broken bells, kid cudi, afi, 21 pilots, rebelution, the head and the heart, weezer, daman albarn, city and Colour, grouplove, and cake!!!

Hm. I would want to be in the middle of the late night craziness. The only time I've been was on a new year's eve and it was intense. this is the town I stepped on a broken dildo (the story has popped up in several threads) and really want to go back... I wasn't wanting to drop this kind of money again after roo, but the more you guys post in this thread, the more I'm thinking it's happening. I may have a buddy that will go with me. I'll look for the lineup some time in june then... I'm sure this thread will post about it when it happens?? again, thanks guys!!
