I haven't been to Voodoo Fest since the year (2007) Rage Against the Machine, Porcupine Tree, Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, Tiesto, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and countless other acts played.. The line up just hasn't been worth it to me. Might go this year, if there's a decent line up

I found a hostel for 50 a night near the site. Less than 300 for ticket and hostel combined make this extremely plausible. Now I just need to see flight rates
^wat he said Also, I would go ahead and book a room now before the lineup comes out (you can always cancel up to day before check in at no cost at most places). I actually booked a room yesterday at Motel 6 on Old gentilly and it was less than $200 for 3 nights before tax. Most places are going to be charging more than that per night.
We'll update this thread with late night shows when they're announced.
The main upside to VIP is basically being able to get close to the headliners without having to stand up close through 2 or 3 acts without pissing yourself. I was able to get close (within 20ft of stage) all three nights last year by showing up 5 minutes before the headliner started. It's even easier to get close for other acts on the main stage...can walk in during the middle of a set and be 10ft away. There's also an area for elevated viewing that's pretty nice.
Does the Motel 6 charge you when you book? I looked on the site and I couldn't find it. Also, do you know if they charge for parking?
Anyone got any new lineup rumors? Not hearing anything at all is extremely frustrating. Voodoo Derpbook page says lineup announcement in June. Argh. Clearly there will be a crossover with FFF, which is great.
Gonna go ahead and make a partial fake lineup that would cause instant ejaculation for me. Obv there would be a bunch of extra generic EDM to satisfy the mahlyheads that aren't old enough to buy beer.

Not a good start. If its RHCP and Green Day, I might skip this year.
Since the year I went to VooDoo and Rage Against the Machine, Kings of Leon, Wilco, Smashing Pumpkins, Dr. John, Tiesto, M.I.A., Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Circa Survive, Porcupine Tree, Coheed & Cambria, Spoon, Galatctic, Toots & Maytales, MuteMath played... the line up hasn't come close to that.. and that was in 2007.

I agree the general trend has been towards weaker lineups since that year.
But, the past two years the headliners have been incredible. I assume Voodoo blows the budget on headliners then scrambles for whatever they can get cheap in the undercard.
Having said that, every year I always complain about how the big rock headliners conflict with the big EDM headliners. So if I don't care for the big rock headliners this year, but the big EDM headliners appeal to me, I still might go. Would save me money too, if I don't care for the rock headliners I wouldn't buy VIP.

True, and I can totally agree with you on that! I went down there a couple years ago and went to see Bassnectar.. I don't believe he was playing Voodoo but it was a Voodoo after party.. I forget the venue but it was outdoors. But yea, it's soooo hard for me to take off for work. I work Thurs-Sun, and I had to ask off for Bonnaroo back in January.. so any festival (except Roo) has to have a pretty bangin line up for me to attempt to make it.. Roo is an exception to that rule, as I 've been many times and I will continue to go as long as there are at least like 5 bands that I want to see.. but the experience at Roo makes up for a weak line up any time!
I don't think we're getting Green Day, but if they did get them when they're not touring (and they played Dookie in full for 20th anniversary) that would (sadly) sell way more tickets than the amazing headliners we got last year. It's not a bad guess though since so many others that are currently on festie circuit are unlikely due to just playing there or just playing in nola and not selling tickets worth a damn.
my best guess as of right now: RHCP | Foo Fighters | Outkast Motley Crue | Pretty Lights | DFA 1979 | Alt-J | Untz | Lorde | Alice Cooper | Untz A bunch of nola bands | who the fuck are these bands? | Untz

What if Motley Crue was in the top three?
Foo Fighters and Outkast would be pretty cool. I also wouldn't mind seeing Pretty Lights live band again in New Orleans.
I'm trying to stay positive here by thinking that Motley Crue is in the same booking cost range as Kid Rock / Paramore. They fill that cheese spot perfectly and their dates are making it seem like they are definitely going to be there.
I just saw those dates too. I asked someone to e-mail their agent to find out if they are booking (or interested in booking) any shows in the southeast after those dates.
Have we heard anything about an exact date for the line up announcement yet?
Nope. They just said "Credentials will not be available again until line-up release in June." Maybe they're waiting on Roo to be over with before announcing. I don't see them getting any of Roo's headliners though unless Outkast backed out and they're getting Kanye instead.
edit: It's gonna be hilarious if it's something like Skrillex or Kaskade holding up the announcement.
Hope this article is true that's my bday and would be awesome to see the lineup on also hoping that if livenation bought it that makes it bigger and better not worse!!!! Headliners I would like to see is eminem, rhcp, blink 182, and foo fighters. I'd like for undercards qotsa, kendrick lamar, cage the elephant, taking back Sunday, dirty heads, 21 pilots, grouplove, kid cudi, chvrches, the used, rebelution, Manchester orchestra, fitz and the tantrums, iggy azalea, kongos, and bear hands
I will venture a final headliner guess of Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath, and Green Day.
Tool/Faith No More/Outkast
Foo Fighters are highly probable though.
I really doubt they would be stupid enough to book Green Day after Billy Jo bitching out and the massively positive reaction to Green Day being replaced by Metallica.
