Hate to break it to you but I think they're still on hiatus. I know J Tillman announced he was officially leaving the group.
Just read on wiki that there's some speculation about a 3rd album but I thought they were done for a little while. We'll see. I love their first two albums.
yeah i actually just saw rumors about the 3rd album earlier today, which led me to start this thread. hoping they come back before june. decemberists too.
Been listening to them for years and ive never had the chance to see them. I think they're due for the farm.

This will never happen. I apologize for bursting your bubble.
with john tillman pursuing his solo career as Father John Misty , a fleet foxes reunion is highly unlikely and if it does happen they will not sound the same.
that dude was 50% of what made fleet foxes.
sorry once again. but your dreams when manifested into reality are completely empty

J Tillman didn't play on the Sun Giant EP or their debut album so I'd say it's safe to say they could continue successfully without him so long as they find a suitable replacement. Plus, there's the fact that Robin Pecknold is going on tour this year with that one indie supergroup that may suggest he's getting ready to jump back into music making again.

Fleet Foxes didn't blow up until after both those releases .. hmmmm coincidence ?? a suitable replacement for j tillman doesn't exist.
yes that's cool but its not going to happen in the next 6 months. indie supergroup at roo sounds more possible than a FF reunion

I will tell you what though.
I got a chance to see them @ ACL in 2011 and it was right before arcade fire and it was raining. it was one of the most amazing harmonious shows I have ever seen in my life. I hope J comes back one day

I've seen Father John Misty live and hot damn I really doubt he'd ever be content to be behind the scenes on a drum set ever again. He has such a charismatic stage presence and natural showmanship that was wasted when he was in Fleet Foxes so in that regard I can totally understand his desire to leave. However, I too saw Fleet Foxes in 2011 and was blown away by their performance, which makes me really hope that they'll find a way to continue on.
he recorded a few songs with them on helplessness blues... i dont get why some people think he was a major part of the band. he could easily be replaced. 50% of the band? dont think so.

Agreed. They will be back without Tilllman and they will be just fine. I actually think they make their comeback this year in some form but 2015 seems more realistic for live shows.

I was actually hoping Pecknold would enlist some more musicians to help them out on tour. Their studio albums have a HUGE sound. I've never seen them live but I've seen lots of recorded performances and their current live show doesn't look to be as transcendent as it could be. I want Pecknold in front of a whole string section with three percussionists and some horns. He should be doing what Vernon was doing with Bon Iver in 2012 with that 12 piece band or however many they had.

Robin Pecknold's instagram has been a treasure trove of short snippets and commentary throughout the recording of the album. He's pretty responsive to comments. Definitely recommend reading through some of it for anyone who's interested.
This is quite possibly my most anticipated album in recent memory.
This has the smell of something Bonnaroo will not get.
They failed to book Fleet Foxes on their two previous festival runs, so I'm not holding my breath. I just hope they pop on a few North American lineups in 2017. Or Best Kept Secret because I want a good excuse to go to a music festival in a Safari Park in the Netherlands (Radiohead + Arcade Fire is already enticing).
Everybody going be pissed when SK snags them, except for us that are going.
Fun Fact: If you curated a lineup consisting of every band that people suggest will play Shaky Knees instead of Bonnaroo, you would unequivocally have the best lineup in music festival history.

Well, over the past few years we have seen multiple gems who are undercard acts get snagged by SK instead of playing Bonnaroo.

Someone in the Hangout thread supposedly has scoopz that Phoenix and Noel Liam Gallagher will also be there. SK is shaping up nicely if that's the case.

You could say the same thing in reverse though. While SK has definitely had a big influence on who Bonnaroo can and can't book in a given year, it's not like they hold a monopoly on good indie rock acts. There have been a fair amount of great artists that have done Shaky Knees the year after Bonnaroo (MMJ, Florence, Neutral Milk Hotel, James Blake, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Real Estate). SK benefits more from its specialization than anything else.
That being said, I am worried about FF doing spring festivals and then heading to Europe for the summer. But they also fall in the group of artists I'd much rather see play a full headlining indoor set than a festival
