eh i have no interest in Petty. he was boring at hangout last year and ive yet to talk to anyone whose seen him recently say he was good live. hes not really interested in putting on a great show anymore. hopedully we finally get something today u know its bad when fun fun fun in Novembers releases their lineup first

Not that I care to be Tom Petty's defender, but most people on here seemed to enjoy his Bonnaroo show last year.

seeing artists its all about opinion. i love tom and i thought he was amazing at roo. he was funny and personal and he sounded so good, just like his recordings. he had such a fun vibe. but if you dont like him or his songs or his voice you wont like it. i just wouldnt make a broad statement like "he's not really interested in putting on a great show" because a great show is more in the eyes of the concert goer.
i agree with both you guys and was having a similar convo the other day with some friends. but when i saw him he didnt seem that into it, played what he felt like and killed the energy so bad that a lot of us sat down for like 5 songs. he just had a bad set list it seemed like and the only time he really engaged the crowd he got all creepy. Some others told me they felt the same way at firefly. however i think id rather have petty over KOL
I'm a huge Petty fan and have seen him numerous times. The Hangout Fest set last year was horrible. He killed every vibe he had going with the crowd. It;s not typical of him but I agree it was pretty bad.
Just checked the ticketmaster mobile app and tickets are still on sale for both saying "public early bird" Philly at $115 and LA at $215. It really has reached the point where they need to make at least an announcement with a lineup date. Sadly, I think this ends any hope of a lineup dropping this week if tickets still haven't been taken offline for the lineup announcement. I wonder if there are some radius clause issues delaying it but at least do a 2 phase lineup announcement if thats the case like in year 1.

I haven't been following this, but I could see Coldplay and/or Eminem-Rhianna. The article discounted Outkast because of Firefly and the Foos are playing there, too. It seems like past years they've gone with one mainstream pop artist and one not-so-much. I'd love to see Blink-182 fill the "not-so-much" slot coming off Reading/Leeds in England.
Yeah the article and the writer seem to do very little research and just throw names out there. Outkast isn't discounted because of Firefly. They are in Ireland that weekend and the UK the next week. It would make almost no sense to come back stateside for a one-off MIA show. This was out there when this site first posted the Outkast rumor.
there have had to been some tweaking of the schedule in the 11th hour. it seems that they were going to release it at last a half dozen times prior to this "2 days" announcement.
Looking forward to it. I'm guessing around noon or so just due to LA's time difference. I'm thinking Nas X The Roots is a lock for Philly since they are playing Boston Calling the next week and The Roots have yet to play the festival. I'm still holding out hope for Arcade Fire being the rock headliner on Sunday vs KOL.
Roots arent playing. they dont need to they play their picnic show next weekend and the 4th of july show. i would love to be wrong but i just dont see the need for them to play. im sticking with my Kanye/KoL predicition. also hoping to get Childish Gambino, Pharell, NaS (i think a lock), Avicci. just hope this isnt a shit lineup
My biggest hope is Vampire Weekend; they're overseas the week before, but that doesn't necessarily mean much. If it does end up being KoL/Kanye, I'm not sure I'll be attending unless there's a great undercard.
