Firefly's lineup is shaping up to be a major disappointment for the second consecutive year so this will most likely be my festival of choice in 2014.
My personal predictions for MIA 2014 headliners have been Kanye and Outkast since November when Outkast festival rumors first started to circulate. No clue who else will be on the bill
Feel free to bump this in mid-April when the lineup is announced
I went to year 1 of MIA but missed last year. The thing about MIA is they are very top heavy. I could see Outkast being the big reunion there but not necessarily being the headliner. The only thing that would rule Outkast out is Gov's Ball and Firefly's proximity combined with the timing of MIA conflicting with the general timeframe of Rock the Bells who i think is another shoe-in to get Outkast.
For the rock headliner however I'd say Metallica or Coldplay are reasonable guesses but i'm thinking you could throw Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers in there as well since it appears they will be touring this summer.
As an FYI last year i got an email because i purchased tickets the prior year with a 2 day presale pass for $99 before the lineup drop. I can post the link here again if they do it this year because even if you don't like the lineup you can definitely turn around and sell each day individually and get your money back + some and still be selling at a discount compared to full price

Outkast is absolutely, without-a-doubt a headliner, just get that idea out of your head right now.
I actually think the Coldplay/Outkast combo is the most likely.
I also went the first year, bought a pre-sale ticket for last year, then sold it (other plans). I wouldn't say the fest is top heavy at all. It's a solid lineup all the way through. Maybe it's "top heavy" in the sense that they book bigger headliners than the average fest of this size does. Either way, my only knock against this festival is that VIP doesn't seem worth the money. I've never bought a VIP ticket, but half of the listed perks are also part of a GA ticket and the crowd wasn't big enough for "preferred viewing areas" to be a factor (At least not in 2012).
You know now that Iv thought about it I take back Metallica. I think it'll be Kanye and Arcade Fire.
Arcade Fire's current US tour is owned by Live Nation. That's why they aren't showing up on any festival lineups except Coachella this year. Live Nation is however a co sponsor for MIA, so they could show up on this. Not to mention the only Philly date they have scheduled is in March, well before this fest even announces it's lineup.
I'm going with Kanye over Outkast because Outkast and Arcade Fire would be too similar to the Coachella lineup.

there is 0 chance both Outkast and Kanye headline MIA.
i went last year bcuz i thoguht the lineup was pretty strong for my taste plus i live 20 min from the area in Philly. But im not sure i want to go back. They sold too many tix and the location wasnt big enough for that amount of people and there were way too many kids under 21 there i feel like every other hour i saw kids being taken to the med tent on a stretcher from dehydration and drugs it was really sad.

You just posted about a music festival having too many "under 21" year olds when it's curated and put on by Jay-Z, complete with an entire tent dedicated for cheese EDM.
point being? this is now the 2nd thread im in that you are trolling. you must lvoe the internet. just dont respond me its not that hard
I like this festival, I will be attending it this year most likely.
If you don't like me calling out your dumb comments for being dumb, either stop posting them, or stop being dumb. Since I have little faith you can accomplish the 2nd option, just go with #1.
now making an accurate observation is dumb? ok man troll on.
I am making fun of your biased observation. There were just as many older folks there, and the majority of the young crowd was quarantined at the EDM tent.
The logistics of the festival are actually pretty good, the only issue I've ever ran into is getting through security, since it's a madhouse.
Your go-to response to people calling you out on being an idiot is to call them a troll, sorry, but that's not how it works.
can you two stop fighting - it's embarrassing. coexist, sheesh.
I'm still sticking with my guns and going with the Outkast and Kanye prediction. Kanye is a feasible guess since he's in jay z's inner circle, and with the news of Outkast being booked at 40+ festivals this summer, I have a hard time believing they wouldn't be there, let alone headlining.
I went last year for the first time and while I did feel that they oversold the festival, I had an good time overall. Lineup was solid top to bottom, aside from the few throw away acts here and there (i.e. deadmau5, calvin harris, imagine dragons).
I thought the hip-hop/rap bill was particularly strong. Loved Public Enemy and Black Hippy. Trying to think of who they could get for this year - any of Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Danny Brown, Chance the Rapper are possibilities at this point. Would also love to see the Roots there - they'd add another level of energy to the festival.
Haven't the slightest clue who will make up the alt/indie portion of the festival billing.

I think there's zero chance they book two hip-hop headliners. They'll throw something like Arcade Fire/Coldplay something like that up there one night. Maybe Lady Gaga or something.
you cant have 2 rap acts headline it wouldnt appeal or sell as well. last year was Beyonce and NIN and the year before Jay and Pearl Jam and that type of trend will continue
