Blown away by the Taj Mahal add, but part of me wishes 1) that he had his own set and 2) that Janelle Monae and Kreiger were traded from Team Skrillex to Team Trucks.

Agreed on both. Though it's still possible that more surprise guests pop up at the Superjams.

I met Derek Trucks the night before Thanksgiving this year. I was totally starstruck. Then my girlfriend was like "did you ask him if he's playing Bonnaroo?" I was like nah, what's the big deal.
Granted they probably didn't approach him about the Superjam til at least February but I'm still like, DAMN HOMIE!
This is way better than last year's "Soul" superjam.
It will be for some. I'm a huge Jim James/Carl Broemel fan and was happy with all the surprises/guests last year but I'm sure this one will kick major ass as well. I'm a fan of most of the acts and need to brush up on my Chaka but I'm pretty excited for it. I'm not sure what kind of music/songs they'll be playing but it sure as hell will satisfy jam fans and people who want to see some legendary acts. Any recommendations for what to check out from some of these artists? Specifically Chaka and maybe Taj Mahal (who i've heard before but not really dug into the discography).
Taj Mahal has a self tilted album that is fantastic! Badass blues album!

Now that I've looked up other members of the Superjam (didn't recognize Hidalgo or Gadson by name) and I'm even more pumped. I can't believe Roo is so soon. I am not ready.

The question then becomes: What do they play? Do we think they jam out on some classic blues stuff? I assume Ben Folds plays piano and Andrew Bird plays violin; what are they up to? Many questions. Lots of potential though.
The Superjams have become such a big deal - and the people who are involved in them seem to be having such a good time, with the fans eating up the performances - that 'roo doesn't seem to be having too difficult of a time finding quality/intriguing artists to fill them. That's good news for people like me, who keep flocking to them on a yearly basis. ...
Skrillex Superjam, Flips, Nick Cave and Frank Ocean has now become the worst conflict time slot at Bonnaroo.
Really impressed by the guests he booked for this. Lots of different genres and vibes.
unless youre really into the collaboration skrillex did with the doors a couple years ago, its still an easy choice.
nick cave is probably the best live musician out of all of those acts.
frank ocean is a really rare live act.
so you should choose accordingly.
Exactly. I'm hoping that the Skrillex Superjam pulls some people away from Frank Ocean. Might be wishful thinking but there is a lot of great talent on that jam. I am satisfied just seeing Skrillex solo at Roo and Governors Ball. Frank Ocean is just too rare to pass up.
The other Superjam may not be the greatest thing but I'm definitely there for an 1 1/2 or so before Skrillex.

Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Info about all 3 Superjams from COS:
This year’s Bonnaroo promises three different SuperJams over the course of the four-day festival. Today, festival organizers finally revealed each lineup, and they’re as absurd as you could hope for.
For his Saturday night SuperJam, Skrillex will be joined by an impressive and eclectic cast of musicians, including Janelle Monae, Chance the Rapper, Warpaint, Thundercat, The Doors’ Robby Krieger (!), Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Big Gigantic, and Zedd. Not only that, but you can thank Skrillex for bringing Grateful Dead back to the farm, as Mickey Hart is also set to participate in the jam.
Friday night’s SuperJam will gear more towards jam band and blues fans, as it’ll feature Derek Trucks joined by everyone from Chaka Khan to Andrew Bird to Ben Folds. The lineup also includes Los Lobos’ David Hildago, Trucks’ longtime collaborator Susan Tedeschi, blues musician Taj Mahal, and drummer Adam Deitch, among others.
On Sunday, comedian turned musician Ed Helms will host a bluegrass SuperJam, featuring Dierks Bentley, Lake Street Drive, Shovels & Rope, Robert Ellis, The Lone Bellow, Sarah Jarosz, and The Lonesome Trio.
Bonnaroo takes place June 12th – 15th in Manchester, TN. The lineup also includes Jack White, Kanye West, Elton John, Vampire Weekend, Frank Ocean, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Phoenix, Lionel Ritchie, and Neutral Milk Hotel, among others. Tickets are still available.
Full Superjam lineups:
Friday night SuperJam: Derek Trucks featuring Chaka Khan, Taj Mahal, Eric Krasno, James Gadson, David Hidalgo and Adam Deitch with special guests Andrew Bird, Susan Tedeschi, Ben Folds and more
Saturday night SuperJam: SuperJam: Skrillex and Friends featuring Big Gigantic with special guests Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Robby Krieger (of The Doors), Zedd, Mickey Hart, Janelle Monáe, Warpaint, Chance the Rapper, Thundercat and more
Sunday Superjam: The Bluegrass Situation SuperJam hosted by Ed Helms featuring the Lonesome Trio, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Jarosz, Lake Street Dive, The Black Lillies, Shovels & Rope, The Lone Bellow, Robert Ellis, Della Mae, Bryan Sutton, and Dave Johnston of YMSB

Friday Superjam will depend on how crappy the Disclosure crowd is. I'm interested but it isn't a must see. I bet Derek Trucks is on fire that night though.
Saturday Superjam is seriously tempting. I really like Big Gigantic, plus a member of the Doors, Grateful Dead, a Marley, Janelle Monae and Thundercat. That combo isn't going to happen again. Still will likely be a game time decision, but it sounds like a ton of fun.
Sunday Superjam I'm definitely in. Seen Avetts a bunch and this seems like an awesome way to end the weekend prior to Elton.
By the way, what is Mickey Hart even going to do if the drummer from Big Gigantic is full time?
Skrillex - beats Big gigantic - saxophone, drums, beats Damian Marley - vocals Robby Krieger - guitar and vocals Zedd - beats Mickey Hart - More drums Janelle Monae - Vocals Warpaint - guitar and vocals? Chance - vocals Thundercat - bass And more...
Unlike last year's soul superjam, where the group made sense, this one is all over the place. I kinda love it.
have to assume the players will rotate some. they wont all be up there at the same time.
go listen to some of hart's dreadful work with "Planet Drum." im guessing that his portion will be a bunch of frenzied drumming while skrillex triggers nature sounds in the background.
This is way better than last year's "Soul" superjam.

I'm not sure how well Taj Mahal really fits in here, but whatever.

taj mahal is rooted heavily in the blues, but he definitely incorporates a lot of world music into his stuff. I could see a really intersting meld of his and David Hidalgo's(los lobos) world/blues style with the funk/soul of chaka khan and jazz/funk of Krasno and dietch.

My excitement level is through the roof. I was already on board with the Trucks SuperJam when it was still a mystery, but on Saturday when I wasn't really into any of the first round of LN's, the sheer curiosity of seeing Mickey Hart and Robby Krieger collab with Skrillex and Big G gives me a viable option.
All Hail Capp Dogg and his minions! Job well done!
Edit: Also members of Lettuce with Trucks. It should be mandated that some members of Lettuce are on the farm each year.

I'm lazy, so who are they?
Hidalgo is a guitar player with los lobos.
Gadson is a blues/RB session drummer from a bunch of motown stuff. Bb king, bill withers, herbie Hancock.

Hidalgo is a singer/guitarist from Los Lobos who are pretty awesome (at least the stuff I've heard) and Gadson is (according to Wiki) "an American drummer and session musician. Beginning his career in the late 1960s, Gadson has since become one of the most-recorded drummers in the history of R&B music.". He's worked with a TON of awesome artists and just take a look at the guy.....he looks like a ton of fun:
