The purple one's presence isn't impossible. He is at Coachella this weekend says his twitter account. Silly of him to show up and not play atleast a song. Think this could be a good Superjam surprise.

I try not to get my hopes up about these kind of things, but Janelle Monae's presence could make him more likely showing up I suppose. Still think him actually playing is around 10% likely.

Tho it's very unlikely, I won't miss Janelle Monae at bonner to, just for the off chance he pops out for a song. That, and I'm still jamming out to electric lady on a regular basis
To think Prince will be involved in the superjam is just ludicrous. Dream on dreamers.

This is not happening.
Listen Grumplstiltzken, 2 years ago we had a Superjam featuring D'Angelo's first North American show in like 13 years or something like that. Unless you have inside info that you'd like to share, my guess is as good as any.

And if you say Prince is too big to do something like this, well look at City Winery in NYC. About 10 months ago, he played a surprise show at City Winery and didn't hit stage until 3 AM. Dude also hosts weekly pajama and pancake parties at his property. Prince is not above or below anything. He clearly likes to throw down and party down into the wee hours of the morning, I would say in my opinion (which has no inside info) Prince could very well be our late night Superjam.
Edit: and by surprise show at City Winery, I mean it wasn't even announced that day or anything on Instagram or Facebook or any other social media. A band played and everyone thought the show was done, then the Purple one takes the stage and blows people's minds for a few more hours.

Wow. Someone who has Prince for his signature thinks Prince is going to show up?
Surely he can't be delusional strictly based on his own wishes.
I have no inside info and chances are better that he will not play then the chances he will. I just think you guys are stubborn Richards to write it off completely with out bringing any information to the table to support your stance or suggest anyone else. You realize that this is a message board and the idea is to discuss. Who do you think it is? I am not saying there is any chance of Led Zeppelin, 50 year Anniversary show of the Grateful Dead, Beatles reunion or Nirvana reunion, but of all the "legend" bands/artists, based on recent history I would say if they are going to go the "D'Angelo" route, it would be Prince.
Remember that time there was a Van Halen cover band playing a prime time Saturday night slot a couple years ago and every single Phish fan thought it was a secret Phish show... Then it was actually a Van Halen cover band... I don't know why people continue to think MAJOR performers like Prince are just gonna pop up at The Farm... I wish man, I really do, I just don't see that happening

Not that it's hard to fake, but with the Van Halen cover band they had a website and YouTube performance videos, I never questioned it and I am a big Phish head myself. This is different just because it's an all together mystery slot no bands or artists even remotely linked yet. I just say Prince because it would be a party, it would still be somewhat low key meaning it's not an official headliner where the press is involved and all that comes with it. He has also been doing many very low profile "surprise" gigs just trying to build hype and grow his legend name. His weekly pajama parties at Paisley Park are rather intimate, along with City Winery, and yes he played an arena in CT but I think he is really just feeling the small sweaty clubs as opposed to big arenas and I think the tents replicate that whole feeling better then the large stages. Again not saying it's definitely happening but nobody who understands Prince has even really contributed. Everyone is like "no he is too big" which isn't an argument for him anymore based on his recent shows. Yes he is big but is doing small stuff for fun

The argument isn't that Prince is too big. It's that to date he's played exactly one U.S. festival. Yes, he has a history of dropping in and playing small, intimate, odd venues. He has zero history of popping up at massive music festivals. But please tell us more about what Prince is feeling.
I get it dude, you are trying to just ask the questions and say there is as good as shot as anything else seeing as there is no information at all (although didn't Wayne Coyne post something on instagram about practicing for a superjam??)
You're right there is a CHANCE... but honestly i would say like a .00000000000000000000000000001% seriously man. This is how rumors start....

Well you got your information 100% wrong and that's how rumors start. Wayne Coyne posted a photo a few months ago of them practicing for the BLAM Superjam with Ben Folds. Nobody practices for the Superjam 2 months ahead of time, maybe week of at best.
I think Danger Mouse will lead the superjam. He has worked with a ton of artist. Some of which will already be there. It's realistic and in my opinion would be great

Is anyone else still pissed about no Ben folds?! I really hope he ends up in the super jam. Not that he has to lead it, even though I think that would be fantastic!
Music Midtown: 2011 Bonnaroo: 2012 - 2016 Forecastle: 2013 Rock al Parque: 2014 420 Fest: 2014-2018 Shaky Knees: 2015 - 2019, 2021 Seen tons of local shows since 2004.
People still holding out hope for Prince remind me of those holding out hope for Led Zeppelin in 2008. The only real difference being that we at least got one quarter of Zep that year; this time, you get no quarter. *badum-tsss*
Albarn, Dangermouse, and Wayne all sound like great ideas.... But you can all stop speculating because clearly it's gonna be Prince, he once played at a winery you guys!
And I'd be somewhat surprised if it was hosted by someone already on the lineup, honestly. Didn't they say in that Reddit session that it was a "mystery" because they hadn't yet locked down the pieces? If it was Danger Mouse or Wayne Coyne or Damon Albarn, you would think they would have engaged in those talks prior to the lineup drop, when they were inking the contracts, as they did with Skrillex.
Speaking of Sonny, with one Superjam already announced as this electronic monstrosity, you'd have to imagine the other will be something more "traditional" to appease the roots and rock crowd, something along the lines of the Jim James show from last year. Can't really see DM or Albarn hosting something like that, though I could see Wayne Coyne doing a Beatles psychedlic freakout thing. But Tweedy doing some sort of Americana revue would make a ton of sense.

Someone mentioned Tweedy a while back and I'd be so happy if that is the direction they go. He just produced the new White Denim album and they'll be on the farm so there's one connection to work with.

Just the thought of Tweedy playing with John Paul Jones has me very very excited.
