Post anything from highly anticipated Ryman shows and arena size acts at Bridgestone and LP Field to club acts at The End, Exit/In and everywhere else.
Nashville's live music scene has exploded and it needs to be discussed.
There are a handful of big shows coming to the Ryman this spring.....Bugg, The Pixies, Neutral Milk Hotel, Young the Giant, Band of Horses acoustic, 2 nights of WSP, CSN, Rob Thomas solo, Santana, Joe Bonomassa, Local Natives.
Canvas, one of the gay bars on Church St., is about to start having deep house on Tuesdays.
It's funny because I've actually gone to PLAY before with girl(friends) just for the music.
I'm assuming Canvas is close to PLAY?
Yeah, it's up the street away from downtown. It's definitely much lower key than PLAY. So if you can handle PLAY, Canvas is a breeze. Not sure what the music will be like exactly. Tonight's the first night they're doing it. Haven't decided if I'm going or not.

Their lineups the past couple years haven't really done it for me personally. I attended a few years ago when they had Public Enemy & The National there and had an alright time. The main issue that time wasn't the crowd or the line up but rather the weather. It poured rain all day long which caused a few sets to be canceled and the remainder to be rescheduled/shortened. I stayed in town overnight to do record store day at Third Man but once again the weather caused the Jerry Lee Lewis concert they were doing to be postponed until the following day. Sadly I couldn't stick around any longer and still haven't had the chance to make up for missed opportunity.

The Jerry Lee Lewis show was a lot of fun. I have my black & blue from that show.
Ryman Auditorium: Weezer April 5th (Blue) and April 6th (Pinkerton). I am thinking about the show on the 5th. The blue album was always a favorite of mine.
I could not bring myself to give this its own festival thread, so I am sticking this here.
Vanderbilt's Rites of Spring April 11 and 12th
2 Chainz Steve Aoki Delta Rae twenty one pilots The Mowgli's Harper Blynn Misterwives Stix Izza
This is always a bad festival but some years (not this one) the lineup is decent.
I've never gone. I almost went (I think) 3 years ago, but the lineup's never been good enough for me to deal with the crowd.
I went back in 2009, when the Flaming Lips played. It rained most of the time, but it was still a fun show. The crowd of college kids had no idea who the Flaming Lips were so most didn't stick around due to the rain (parties to go to, bro). It was also the first time I met Druid.
Free Event: This Saturday there will be a Mardi Gras style event at Riverfront Park. Some good local bands are playing including Kansas City Bible Company, Black Diamond, and several others.
