So... I'm kind of flipping out over here. I'm singing at the Ryman Auditorium tonight. I just hope it doesn't go by so fast that I don't get a chance to soak it all in!

Cut Copy is 2 weeks from tomorrow. klsdfjsdklfj;fj
is marathon a pretty good venue?
Yeah, it's pretty decent. It's wide instead of long, so getting a good spot is easier than at Mercy, Cannery or Exit/In if you have been to any of those venues. Also, there are 2 bars, so there's never a long line to get a drink.

I like marathon. The 2 bars really helps the drink line issue, and I've never had trouble getting a good spot. I've seen 2 New Year's Eve shows there (Del McCoury and Moon Taxi), as well as Bush, and the sound has been good all 3 times. You should have a good time!

If you want to be sure, I'd get there when doors open or a little after.

I like the venue and the layout but the sound is awful in there. My husband is a sound guy and after going there twice he now refuses to go to shows there
Bathroom tip for Marathon - There's one that everyone uses that's on the far side of the hall from the entrance. There's another that tends to have shorter lines closer to the entrance.
Who in the fuck is that, and are they horrible? JHOinTN and I have a reputation to keep up.
Jessy Lanza is great. I'm super excited that she's opening for CC in three weeks when I see them. She had a fairly well-received album last year and some cool guy wrote this about her in a Top 50 albums of 2013 review:
"Don’t let the breathy and sweet soulful voice fool you; Jessy Lanza is unfuckwithable. Lanza’s debut on Hyperdub Records, Pull My Hair Back, is an R&B collage. Her voice ranges from Mariah-levels of vocal heights to breathy mumbles, but her lyrics pull a curtain back on a woman who is in charge. The album is filled with commands and directions for her lover. Album highlight “Fuck Diamond” is the “Material Girl” that Madonna probably wishes she had written. This is an album made almost entirely of electronic noise and synthesized sound. Lanza does not like writing lyrics, despite the beauty and range of her sultry voice. She has a self-confessed ad-lib approach to lyrics. You can hear this process on songs like “Kathy Lee,” where it’s as if the beats were laid and the groove was set. Then she mumbles some sounds over the beat, gives it a title, and when all else is ready she goes back and works the vocal sounds into lyrics.
Lanza’s songwriting approach on Pull My Hair Back does nothing to detract from the sexy vibe she’s created along with her co-producer, Jeremy Greenspan, her fellow Ontarian musician and one-half of the electronic duo Junior Boys. The album sounds like an attempt to honor Aaliyah and update One in a Million songs for 2013. Lanza is a die-hard fan of the whole R&B genre and isn’t ashamed to admit that this is an album filled with songs about love and sex, created to get lovers on the dance floor. “Pull My Hair Back” is another song where she’s providing instruction to a lover and it has nothing to do with being sick at the toilet. Similarly, “Against the Wall” is provocative in meaning but with the light dance beat and echoed tenor of her vocals, it comes off as if from an ingénue. Lanza creates space masterfully throughout Pull My Hair Back, crafting songs that would make even pre-Christian conversion Vanity blush. I’ll take more of this R&B every time even though, as Lanza sings on the title track, she “doesn’t give a fuck what you do.”
Shameless plug time - My chorus has our A cappella Cafe on Saturday. Only $7 and you see me in sparkles and LOTS of makeup and dancing in heels. SO worth your money. Details here.
