It's definitely finished. They had the official ribbon-cutting today. From what I've read online, the pit holds maybe 100-200, reserved seats (which are collapsible chairs) fit 2200, and the rest is GA lawn. So yeah - the lawn is HUGE since the total capacity is 6800. Also saw online that Hattie B's Hot Chicken, Martin's BBQ and a popsicle stand will be food options onsite!
I'm going to see MMJ there next week, Widespread Panic Labor Day weekend, and Florence & the Machines in October. Really excited about having a local amphitheater in use again!! It's something we were definitely lacking.
Anyone attending ascend amphitheater shows this week? I'll be headed there in 2 weeks for Elvis Costello/Steely Dan and interested in your impressions(like specifically if they really got it finished since last time I was in town it was a long way off from being recognizable as a venue). Also will be visiting Nashville in September for Godspeed and kraftwerk so excited about both of those as well.
A bunch of us are going to the Phish show next week. They are doing an open house on the place this Sunday. I plan on checking it out then.

Apparently, there are lots of places to sit outside the ampitheater and enjoy the show. We drove by Saturday night and there were a good number of people chilling on a grassy spot across Korean Veterans. You can see and hear pretty well.

Picnic tables in the exercise area are a great spot with perfect sound. And Free. Take that Live Nation with your $5 water and $16 beer.

MMJ was awesome. Definitely think out of the 3 times I saw them this summer that Forecastle was the best...but they are on fire this tour! Really love the new venue too. It's going to be the shit when temps start cooling off.
