Is anyone paying attention to this AEW drama, and can you sum it up for me
I took this from an article from Fansided...
"Fightful dropped another report (subscription required) on Tuesday, Sept. 6, saying that those on the Punk/Steel side claim that the Young Bucks approached Punk’s locker room, but he did not answer the door, causing the Bucks to have “kicked down the door.” As for why Steel hit Nick Jackson with the chair and bit Omega, he told those that his wife was in the room with himself and Punk.
On Wednesday night (Sept. 7), Fightful (subscription required) got the the side of the story from sources close to the Young Bucks and Omega, where they said that the Young Bucks went to talk to Punk, and they did not kick in the door. The sources then said that Punk began “throwing sucker punches” at Matt Jackson’s head before he got the chance to speak, and Nick Jackson was struck with a chair by Steel. They claim Omega got involved to try to protect Punk’s dog, who was in the locker room at the time of the fight. That is when they claim that Steel bit Omega and grabbed him by the hair."
Took this one from Cageside Seats...
"In the Punk/Steel version, The Young Bucks went to Punk’s locker room after he finished at the presser. He didn’t answer when they knocked, as he was wiped out from his match with Jon Moxley during the PPV and the “emotional” scrum. So Matt & Nick Jackson pounded on the door, and eventually “kicked the door down.” Ace’s wife was in the room. According to Wrestling Observer, Mrs. Steel has a broken foot and was watching Punk’s dog Larry (who will be a key figure in the other side’s account). Concern for his wife is what set Steel off, reportedly throwing a chair at Nick and biting Kenny Omega.
Interestingly, Fightful’s write-up of this side does say that Omega was initially calm until things got out of hand. The entire scene was “very long,” and included a heated verbal exchange even after the men were physically separated.
In the Elite version, The Bucks went to talk to Punk, “just like he told them to” (he’s said some variation of “if you have a problem with me, I’m not hard to find” on multiple occasions). They didn’t barge in, but as soon as they entered the room, before anyone said a word, Punk threw punches aimed for Matt Jackson’s head. Nick tried to intervene, which is when Steel threw the chair at him, hitting the younger Buck in the head.
Omega is also calm in this account, and was said to primarily be worried about Larry, who was agitated and barking. Kenny took Punk’s dog out of the room and tried to get Steel off of Nick, which is when Ace pulled his hair and bit him. This telling of events agrees that the war of words continued after the violence ended, but claims Punk repeatedly threatened legal action during the shouting portion of the fight."
A lot of Punk's rant was centered on Colt Cabana and the rumors that Punk had pushed Colt to be moved from AEW to ROH. I guess Punk felt that someone had leaked this information??? Idk, cuz he also denies he cares about Colt or where he works in the slightest. Honestly, it seems to me like Punk is just an asshole which would not surprise me at all. Supposedly, the Jackson's side was suspended and Punk and Steel were going to be possibly fired for their role in everything. Either way, it looks like Punk is injured yet again, so... Whatevs.
And they put on a banger episode without any of those guys last night. The Bucks were definitely the guys leaking shit to Meltzer. I want Kenny back obviously but the rest of them being gone the rest of the year isn’t going to derail the show in the slightest. Also let’s give it up to Mox for promo of the year and being the real ace of AEW
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
This video clip exemplifies everything that's wrong about pro wrestling today.
Wrestling was so much better in the 80's through mid-00's. Matches were expected to tell a story, not just be a non-stop demonstration of the wildest moves you could come up with. Bookers created storylines which made sense from start to finish, and all of the ongoing storylines in a promotion ideally fit together to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Wrestlers were polished in the ring and on the mic before they ever showed up on national television because they had spent the first few years of their career doing local TV in smaller territories, not working out the kinks on USA or TBS. Put some combination of Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Ricky Steamboat, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, Dean Malenko, and He Who Shall Not Be Named in the ring together and you had magic. Put any one of them in the ring with someone who was halfway-decent, and you had a very good match.
The most entertaining thing about watching today's U.S. wrestling is watching to see how badly the promotion messes things up in a never-ending game of "What's Wrong With This Picture."
Lol I love kota ibushi wrestling dolls and Kenny Omega getting his ass beat by a little girl. Wrestling can just be fun, too
Watching great workers tearing it up in the ring and on the microphone, while maintaining the illusion that what's happening is not scripted and skillfully hiding the cooperation, is what's fun.
Apparently, wrestling legend, Andy Kaufman-foil, and statutory rap artist Jerry Lawler has been rushed to the hospital with what's being reported as a stroke.

This mania card looks amazing on paper, hope it lives up
Cannot believe they’re really about to have Charlotte and Rhea headline over Sami/KO and The Usos
Last I saw, an official call hasn't been made on this. I'm holding out hope - Sami/KO/Usos absolutely has to headline. The Bloodline is an all time great storyline and if its really ending this weekend they need to go all out with it.

that didn't end up happening, but holy shit was Charlotte/Rhea an incredible match. Main event was a great story, and one hell of a moment, but the ladies put on a fuckin show
Oh yeah they showed out. Super happy for Rhea she’s a beast. Night one was fantastic and on paper tonight looks even better. That Gunther/shamus/drew match should be a slobberknocker

the long matches usually don't hold my attention, but i couldn't stop watching charlotte and rhea. we're at a pens game tonight but will probably put it on when we get home to see the main matches.
Can't believe Roman retained. I've been on the Roman train ever since he came back as a heel in 2020, but I thought for sure this was the end. Guess they really want him to hit 1000 days.
