My best guess would be pre headlining for Kanye. At least that's what I'm hoping.
I was thinking Lionel at 9pm on Friday. Kanye at midnight because he likes a late night headline show.
Maybe Lauren Hill will open for Richie.
all of that would work perfectly for me if cake was playing at 10 or 11pm on Friday.
These times don't really make sense. Kanye wasn't playing an unopposed set when he did his '08 set. He will be this time, so it's going to have to be earlier than that.
I didn't know Lolla had Superjams or Elton John. Or comedy for that matter!
I think this was quietly the most insightful exchange of thoughts relating to the lineup thus far. Let me preface by saying that I think this years lineup is stacked. However, each year Roo's lineups are continually becoming a little more mainstream. Davidbyrnesbutler makes a good point, but a handful of acts out of 130 total do not do much to differentiate festivals from each other. In particualr, if you removed Elton John and the two superjams and replaced them with Justin Timberlake and a couple top 40 pop acts, this year's lineup, particularly the top third, is about what I expect to see at Lolla. I know there is a little us/them mentality on this board with respect to other major festivals, so let me be clear that I don't mean this statement as a negative criticism. Think about it. Roo never really sells out. Sure, they send out a message a week before the festival starts saying it's sold out, but this is at a point where 1. there is not time to ship wristbands and 2. the secondary market probably overtakes all of the direct sales. Lolla, on the other hand, sells out in a couple of hours. Obviously, Roo wants to increase ticket sales. Why else create all of that "Bonnaroo Experience" marketing to go along with the lineup announcement. Do Lolla or Coachella ever advertise? (btw, I watched the whole BLAM lineup release stream and thought it was fantastic. The guy/gal who put that together deserves a high five/raise). My point is this, if Lolla lineups sell out, why not make Roo lineups more similar to help improve sales. Seems like smart business to me.

I think insider said Saturday was Lionel into Jack White.
didn't insider say she only considered lionel a headliner because he was playing a headline time slot? And that Jack was playing Saturday, and that Elton was playing Sunday?
Just looked into the Ed Helms hosted Superjam. Like "Dr. Stu" is hosting the superjam? Didnt know he was a musician.
Yup, he did the same SuprJam last year (I wanna say like 4pm on Sunday in That Tent). It was pretty great, and if there isn't a conflict (there will be), I'll totally be there again.
Side note: He did play numerous instruments over his year's on The Office. Was always surprised when he showed up in the break room with a banjo and could actually play it well.
Kanye at midnight because he likes a late night headline show.
Source?
From the logic I was using before, and last time he wanted a late night show for the lights.
Like I said, if Lionel is only considered a "headliner" due to his time slot, and Jack plays Saturday at 9, and Elton plays Sunday to close out, that would indicate a late night Kanye headline on What. Unless Jack White is planning on playing late on What. Equally plausible I suppose

The only reason Damon Albarn's set seems interesting to me is because Bobby and Little Dragon are there also. Maybe we can hear some Plastic Beach Tunes.

I thought thats what i read.
This was her last post.
Nobody has told me No on Outkast......I just can't imagine where they'd fit in with what I know....
Kanye is Friday, so maybe before or after him? That's possible..... Sat is Lionel -> Jack White Sun is Elton to close.....

So who opens for Kanye? Vampire Weekend is definitely possible, but I can also see Arctic Monkeys being a pretty badass potential opener.
Friday What: Nick Cave > Arctic Monkeys > Kanye West
we won't know for sure until the schedule is released. But from what insider said, I think its Lionel at 9 on Friday What, Kanye late night What headline.

What did Insider say to give you this impression?
IT's definitely Kanye/Jack White/Elton Fri/Sat/Sun, but what indication do you have that Kanye is a "late night" headliner?
I think 10p-12p or something is feasible, but that's much of a late night.

I take that as 9pm on what. The traditional what headliner time. If whites in Saturday, and on time at 9, then I logically assume that means Lionel at 9pm on Friday. Since Kanye is a headliner, thatd mean a late night Kanye what show Friday.

I thought that it was made clear Lionel is preheadlining for Jack White, not Kanye.

I didn't read that, but if it was said sure.
Im simply going off of the "I only consider him a headliner due to him playing a headliner timeslot"

Kanye's Roo set will be one of the best in the festival's history. It will be mind-blowing, and all the haters that stick around will change their mind afterwards. He's my most-anticipated act on the lineup, which is saying something considering I just saw him in November. Also, HOLY CRAP Frank Ocean and James Blake! Definitely my top 3 of the festival, along with Neutral Milk Hotel and Jack White. Will not miss those 5 for anything, and I won't miss Skrillex or his Superjam unless any of those 5 conflict with it.
There's tons of others I'm excited for too, but I have seen most of them already. Not many surprises, but that also is a huge help when it comes to making the tough decisions during conflicts. Here's the artists I've already seen, with a brief review and ranked from best to worst:
Kanye West (One of the best shows I've ever seen, he proves that he is the best ARTIST in rap with a performance that is truly a sight to behold 9.75/10) Skrillex (This was LN Which 2012 and it was the best party I've ever been to. Even if you don't like him, it's impossible to not have a blast. Amazing, amazing time 9.75/10) Wiz Khalifa (Wiz sounds better live than most albums, and his live band is killer. If you're in the right state of mind, you will love his show 8.75/10) Umphrey's McGee (Definitely a must-see live band. I enjoyed both times I've seen them. Wouldn't call myself a superfan, but their fans are DEDICATED. Would watch again 8.5/10) Capital Cities (Watch from the back side of the tent where no security blocked. Way, way better than I expected. Great live sound and energy, would watch again 8.5/10) Phoenix (Great live band, just as good if not better than their albums. If you like them, you'll like their show 8.5/10) Die Antwoord (They sound awesome live, better than you'd expect. They aren't quite as crazy as their videos but you'll have a blast 8.25/10) Meshuggah (So, so brutal live. Probably one of the most aggressive shows I've been to. My top pick if you want your metal fix at Roo 8.25/10) City and Colour (Was hooked after buying Little Hell for $5 at the 2012 Roo merch table. Great song-writer, great songs, great time 8.25/10) Disclosure (Good, although they don't mix their songs much differently from the album. A fun time but turn your expectations down a hair, coming from somone who LOVED Settle 8/10) Elton John (About as good as you would expect. He pretty much just does his songs, but still sounds great for his age. Will be a fun way to end Sunday 8/10) Robert Delong (Really cool and unique kind of electronic music. If you're looking for someone new to dance to, give him a listen (8/10) Arctic Monkeys (Solid live band, ranges from slightly better-to-slightly worse than their albums. You won't be blown away but you'll have a good time 7.75/10) Yonder Mountain String Band (Extremely talented bluegrass-jam band. If you need to get your jam on, go here. However, all of their songs start to sound the same after awhile 7.75/10) ZZ Ward (She has a great voice and sounds awesome live. Not a must-see, but you'll have a good time if you go 7.5/10) Ed Helms Superjam (This counts right? I caught a good bit last year but missed most due to Bob Saget. This is definitely a welcome repeat though 7.5/10) Grouplove (Can be good or great live. They're worth a watch if you like their stuff 7.5/10) Fitz and the Tantrums (Seen em three times. Some of their tunes are hit or miss for me but they're good performers. Worth watching if you haven't seen em 7.25/10) Break Science (Saw them open for Umphrey's last year. Cool EDM act with a live drummer. Should be a fun Thursday night show 7.25/10) The Avett Brothers (They're enjoyable but I don't know many of their songs. I do like the ones I know though. Fans will definitely enjoy them, but I need a little more time 7/10) Zedd (Back at Counterpoint before people knew him really. I enjoyed his set, especially his Zelda remix. I would enjoy watching him now that I know more songs 7/10) Danny Brown (It was a fun show. This was Thursday at Roo 2012, and I didn't know any of his songs. He's a good performer though, probably even better now 7/10) Mastodon (Seen em three times: two were disappointing, and the other was just pretty good. I love their studio stuff but can't see me picking them in a rough conflict this year 6.5/10)
And on top of that, I'll add these to this list before the fest itself: Caveman (seeing them tonight!) The Flaming Lips J Roddy Walston Those Darlins Pusha T (maybe) Deafheaven Cloud Nothings Cake Vampire Weekend Slightly Stoopid Chance the Rapper MS MR The Head and the Heart (also maybe) The Naked and Famous (another maybe)
Just goes to show how many great artists are on the lineup! Hopefully my conflicts won't be as bad this year as a result.
I'm glad they are not there. I am fan of their music, but their last set at Bonnaroo was pretty lame. It is one of the most phoned-in sets I've ever seen anywhere. I'm still pissed at myself for bailing on Plant for them. People think Kanye is not worthy of a return, but doing a set with obvious disinterest is a worse offense.
edit: I will say that the crowd did bring the entertainment value up for this set with the dancing shaaman and a lot of nude dancing.

I've watched the video of their bonnaroo set almost 100 times, it was great. I guess if you don't get/like the whole Strokes persona it's not good, but I thought they were awesome
What about the Strokes persona involves shaky performances? I've seen them play great sets, and seen them when they clearly couldn't care any less. I wasn't at the 2011 show (didn't attend that year), but I saw them at Coachella that year, and that show was pretty poor. It happens. Good band, not always the tops on stage.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
