Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm glad they are not there. I am fan of their music, but their last set at Bonnaroo was pretty lame. It is one of the most phoned-in sets I've ever seen anywhere. I'm still pissed at myself for bailing on Plant for them. People think Kanye is not worthy of a return, but doing a set with obvious disinterest is a worse offense.
edit: I will say that the crowd did bring the entertainment value up for this set with the dancing shaaman and a lot of nude dancing.
I've watched the video of their bonnaroo set almost 100 times, it was great. I guess if you don't get/like the whole Strokes persona it's not good, but I thought they were awesome
mte... as someone who's seen The Strokes a few times and was at their show at Roo in 2011, I can honestly say that their set in 2011 was my favorite show of theirs that I've been to. Maybe it seemed different if you weren't up close like I was, but even though they came on late and left early (like they always do...), it was so fun because you could just tell that they were all happy and genuinely looked glad to be playing with one another. Idk, to each his own, but I loved the 2011 set.
edit: and I'm praying come time for artist additions that at leeeast Julian solo is added, but I would totally take The Strokes too

I just thought about it and it's nothing to be upset about. I mean he's gonna be a lot of fun. High energy, soulful music, and a good time. And he's good. So whatever, i shouldnt have been so mad.

Avett brothers and phoenix though....mmmmm
I'm not excited for Avett bros but I'm surprised anyone wouldn't enjoy a Phoenix set. I mentioned in another thread I was hooked from when they opened with Entertainment (wasn't a fan at the time). Way more excited this go around. Are you unfamiliar or just don't like?

I even reordered it to be correct. Now look at it, it's even weirder if they collabed haha.

Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Not sure thats a good way to look at it though. You've got certain matchups with a unamed superjam, a dance contest, and two comedians.
Yeah, there's definitely a lot more to a lineup than a head to head match-up, or things like the unquantifiable advantage that Sir Paul has above a lot of those acts combined for me.
It did help me put the top 8 names in perspective though, I'm a lot more excited for the bigger stuff this year than I was last year.

its too difficult for me to think about which year has the better line up of the two, so im not gonna do it. I havnt been to Bonnaroo 2014 yet. Gonna wait and see.
I will say that i like the undercard a lot more this year. Doubt any superjam tops the soul jam last year tho.

I think its better to try to match up only the bands you are anticipating and sort of line up the genres. Match up your personal top 25 and dont put a rapper vs Ed Sharp if possible.
Like you said though. Macca is worth multiple headliners. Barring a cancellation I think these three headliners will all be a cut above JJ and Petty (to a lesser extent).
Idk if there are any "holy shit we all just saw that together" type of acts though. Kanye and elton possibly but probably not.

Can anyone who's seen Bobby Womack recently comment on how he is live? His last album is great and it would be cool to see something with Damon Albarn, but he's getting up there in age/apparently battling Alzheimer's, and I hear his live show doesn't pack the same punch it used to.

One big issue is that you left off the best show from 2013, the rock n soul superjam. The only thing close was Macca so it should be ranked 1 or 2. Now get rid of the comedy acts that nobody goes to and you got yourself a list my friend.

im just doing it in the order in which they're billed, man.

I've yet to get into them or listen to them. Before I do, what genre are they? I feel like they're a folk type band. But since the "folk jam band" people seem to be pissed off this year, I'm guessing not. lol

They span a lot of genres, mostly considered post-punk. If you dig stuff like Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Grinderman, you'll like it. If you haven't heard any of those, here's a taste of what you might expect from a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds show:

I slept on it. Such a solid lineup. Top to bottom. Can't wait to see what more acts and comedy are added. The top 20 is astounding and I can't even believe the undercard. That being said I will not be attending this year.

I was at the 2011 set and it was great. They're just fantastic live. My only issue was that they started 15 minutes late (like that's new for them) and ended like 10 minute early. We wouldn't have care about the lateness is Julian hadn't have come on stage to declare that he was late because he was watching Beirut and that everyone should leave their set and head there. It was weird. Totally worth it to hear "Last Nite" live, though.

Julian has a strange sense of humor though haha I feel like people probably took that the wrong way. I was torn about the whole start late/end early thing because on one hand, I was sad because I basically went to Roo just for them, but then I realized that them ending early gave me enough time to sprint across the grounds to catch the last half of the Dr. John/Dan Auerbach superjam hahaha
