I really want to read Ned's recap of this thread, in lieu of the Headliner Thread being no more.
"People are all being pretty cool to each other and talking about brunch. Seems like a logical progression from wishing death on each other, debating traveling logistics for Outkast, and Publix subs."

We hardly knew ye, Headliner Thread.
We made huge...strides? with the Headliner Thread this year. Over 800 pages! Not sure we can top that. Alhough if anything happens at the Kanye show this year, all bets are off.
I post once a year, at this time, of year after the lineup drops.............. I am a classical Violinist Deadhead that watched the jam thing start..... and I was like "that's all there is"....then I found Roo and have been coming since first Radiohead........ I saw second Radiohead as well (who is that "mouth breather" that said second Radiohead was boring.... he should be burned at the stake.....anyway where was I? oh yea just a shout out to be a part of all of the folks that appreciate this years lineup. I am going to see Jack White first and the amazing Undercard second............. who is that Neanderthal that said Jack is not of Headliner Artistry.....Spank, spank, spank..... any way thanks for being out there. I am truly excited!!!!!!! See you there

I'm in fucking tears laughing at spank spank spank.
I've read that post ten times and I'm either really fucked up and can't comprehend it or you are making no sense.
Hah don't mind me... I'm drunk. Hah every time my brother or my friends pass out my French bulldog attacks them. It's pretty fun to waych. It's either my music or them.
Kanye coming back shows a lot of moxy on his part. Bonnaroo will forgive his transgressions and embrace him, IF he blows the doors off the farm with a memorable performance. ...IF

Yes it shows a lot of moxy on my part I agree. Forgive me Bonnaroo.

As a perennial attendee, I would hope any hater-ade jugs brought to his show will be capped unless he becomes, or is, an unapologetic prima donna. The man works hard at his craft, it's obvious he is willing to try and win over what he, or his "people," must know will be at least a partially adversarial crowd, so let's hear the man out onstage.
Verbosity is an occupational hazard for me, all apologies. I'm not a big fan of hip hop concerts generally, but I am a fan of a little thing called redemption. Say it with me, now.

you know, that whole thing back in 08, from what i understand, wasn't all Kanye's fault.
Of course, its not popular opinion to put the blame on Bonnaroo, or Pearl Jam for that matter. Not saying he was not in any of the wrong, but he certainly wasn't alone.
I really hope he feels that he's got something to prove, or make up for. Would really make for a pretty special experience.

I was there, it was somewhat Kanye's fault (at the very least). Everyone makes mistakes. I want the 'Roo community to give the man a fair shot at redemption, that's all. He wouldn't show up if he didn't care. You better believe his manager didn't advise him to walk into this lion's den of discontent. Also, he's not even the most punctuality-deprived artist on the bill...that is Ms. Hill.

I wasn't there, so i can only go by what I've read here, and elsewhere on the inter webs. I'm expecting a great show, and i plan to be close enough to the stage, as to avoid any douchery from the haters.
He screwed up and pissed the crowd off, no doubt about it. I'm posting on this subject because I don't like the idea of people bringing bad vibes, anger and resentment to any show. Reservations? Sure. Apprehension? Agreed. "Fuck Kanye" signs? No, that's not cool. If a huge party in the middle of nowhere Tennessee is to thrive, it requires a core contingent of supporters who respect the talent as much as the talent respects their support. Or we can all drive to Coachella...
Edit: I know there is a fervent Kanye thread where perhaps the venerable mods would rather this discussion be...discussed. He is on the lineup, however, so why not discuss it here as well?

How is something which is essentially an inanimate object going to forgive someone? Or are you referring to the organisers themselves? I think its clear that they've "forgiven" him. Or in the alternative, are you doing something obnoxious and referring to the general collective of patrons attending the festival as "Bonnaroo?" I'm still unclear as to why he needs the forgiveness of tens of thousands of people who in all likelihood were not affected in any way by his delay in taking the stage six years ago.
