I hope Lorde could get a spot when it's dark out, but I feel like that probably won't be the case. Has anyone here seen her play a set in the daylight? How was it?

I haven't seen Passion Pit discussed here too much, but they're coming out with a new album and I feel like there's a good chance they'll be at Roo. Where/when do you guys think they'd play?
Same goes for Laura Marling.
Well they were a What late afternoon set last time I think? They haven't really grown in popularity since then, nor declined. I see them in a similar spot, or possibly a Cake type Which slot.
I know reviews of Passion Pit live are mixed, but I've seen them a few different times at a few different festivals and have always had a good time. Its big dumb pop music fun, easy singalongs. I'd check them out if there were zero conflicts.

I've been listening to the Death From Above 1979 spotify radio and I would love for any of these undercard bands to play Roo next year!
Death From Above 1979 TV on the Radio Franz Ferdinand Electric Six The Drums The Subways The Ravonettes The Bravery And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead
I disagree with Passion Pit being "Dumb." Pay attention to the lyrics and you'll realize they're a little more complex.
Also I'd very much appreciate some Rx Bandits. And Damien Rice
Fingers crossed Passion Pit returns again, I still consider their 2012 set around "Gossamer" to be one of the best sets I've seen in the last 5 years. Michael Ankelos's range is very impressive and they have so much energy. His story makes their music very compelling and essential for the indie market. Also IMHO "Manners" is definitely one of the best indie albums of the last decade. No way I consider them a "dumb" band.

Passion Pit's next album will see their fan base increase even more. At Lolla in 2012, they had close to 40,000 at their set alone. I remember because I was front row. Passion Pit take their time with their music, and while it seems very playful and fun: it's actually pretty dark and thoughtful. "The Reeling" or "Moth's Wings" live is a kick in the emotional threshold. I'll let you know that if they were to return in 2015(fingers crossed), they would be in the top two lines undoubtedly. I could see them getting a LN on which, or pre head on Which before LN. For the most part, when people see Passion Pit on a lineup: they get excited!

Aside from Sun Kill Moon(who really won't play if Run the Jewels is there lol), and Kendrick because I just don't see him playing Roo 3 out of the last 4 years(even though I would be 1,000,000 percent down for him to return because he's amazing live), this could definitely become a reality!
i can't see Passion Pit getting LN. They just seem to pop. I didn't go to their 2013 Roo show (went to Of Monster and Men instead) but did see them a few months later at a college show. Fun sing-alongs, dancey music...not really sold on the lead guy vocals, he was hit or miss in most songs.
I agree with the poster above, if I had no conflicts going on i would be down to check out their set.

Her music is so moody, an afternoon set would be so pointless. At Lolla, she had the perfect time slot at 6:45-7:45. If Drake actually does play, then Lorde on what before Drake wouldn't be too shabby of a combo. That's a better transition than say Lana to Drake(no thanks).
Passion Pit just do such a wonderful job of masking dark/sad lyrics with upbeat poppy tunes. I've always really enjoyed "Moth's Wings" and "Cry Like A Ghost." Would love to see them commanding a festival set. Only times I've seen them was two nights with Matt & Kim in Boston and Portland, ME about 2 years ago. Great shows. And I'd guess if they can score another hit like "Take a Walk" on their new album then they could end up with a slightly later spot. I'd be down with Passion Pit into Lorde as either the last two acts on the Which or on What before the headliner.

Most people are split on his vocals haha. If you really want to have a good "Passion Pit" experience: get to the front like I did.

I really hope they play. I'm still telling people about how great they were in 2012 at Lolla.
eclecticmusicdude89, please tell us more about this Run the Jewels/Sun Kil Moon fued
Lol it's not a real beef. Sure is fun to look back at it though. I do think SKM was ruled out because of a fest in Europe in the "Acts not Playing Bonnaroo" thread. I would be shocked if RTJ didn't play!

I should admit the three times I've seen Passion Pit at festivals I've been right up front. I don't even know how that happened since I'm not a gigantic fan or anything. Still always a fun show.
I saw Joy Formiddable and Two Door Cinema Club open for Paaaion Pit last year... Totally bailed on PP after 3 songs... TDCC blew them away. So I left and went to a local small venue and saw Caravan of Thieves for 10$ and it was way better than PP.
Plus I can't stand the way he sticks out his tongue when he sings.

I am on the side that isn't very fond of his vocals. I maintain respect for what they are doing, but their pop sound is far too overbearing for me.
I was up front for Passion Pit at Coachella in 2013, waiting through Metric, PP, Modest Mouse, Stone Roses into BLUR!
Maybe it was my excitement for Blur that made the Passion Pit lead singers frolicking on stage entirely maddening. To each their own.
