Good luck to anyone bidding on them, hope they end up with someone here.
When I bought my piece, the seller said he had a really scratched up piece he would sell me for $20 (didn't get it). So if you don't win one of these, you might be able to contact him for a piece like that.
So I was trying to bid at the last minute for the most recent part of the DARKSIDE mirror on eBay, but lost. However, the guy who's been selling the pieces online sent me a message saying he had another similar sized piece he would sell me for $40 and that he'll send me a picture first. Waiting on the picture, but man it would be easy to say it was part of the DARKSIDE mirror and not actually be part of the DARKSIDE mirror.
Feeling vulnerable because I want it so fucking badly. I'll wait for the picture.

He PMd me after the first round of auctions telling me he had another piece he wanted to sell me.
I think he's full of shit. That or he's breaking off pieces from the main piece he sold. Where else does he keep "finding" more pieces?

Maybe some pieces fell off while transporting/packaging the mirror? He seems like a pretty honest guy, he even refunded me the difference between his estimated and actual shipping costs (on his own, I always just assume people ream you for shipping "and handling" on ebay).
I definitely think a few more pieces "fell" off the main mirror after he saw how much they sold for. They could have been pieces that were loose to begin with, or fell off during transport like CKS said.
Also, he could have easily had a bunch of smaller pieces that he regarded as trash. Thinking no one would want one that small/scratched. That's what I was offered after purchasing mine, was a very scratched piece.
In my dealings with him, never got a shady vibe like he's scamming people.
Since my piece is so uniquely shaped, I can actually see the outline of my piece in the mirror.
I finally got my piece of the mirror in, and I love it. Just trying to decide how to display it at this point. One option would be a shadow box with a piece of the mirror and an album of Psychic.
Or I'm considering finding a really great shot of the mirror in action, printing it on glossy paper, and putting that next to the piece of the mirror. If I go this route, I could probably use a regular picture frame, which would offer several advantages. I could put in better quality glass (ie Museum Glass), and I could counter sink the mirror into a piece of black matte board, which I think would look pretty slick.
So if anyone's got an amazing shot of the mirror in action, post it!
On an aside, if you're framing stuff, it is absolutely worth it to use Museum Glass in your frame. It's more expensive, but the quality difference is pretty astounding. The colors really do pop when they're behind it. As much as I don't like going to Hobby Lobby, they're the only place I know of locally that I can get Museum Glass for a relatively decent price (especially when you use their 40% coupon on it!). If you go to Hobby Lobby, they can pull out a piece of Museum Glass and put it on your poster to compare to the regular UV glass. I was pretty surprised when I saw the difference first hand.
So at the end of the FYF show, Dave Harrington smashed the mirror to hell with his guitar. This guy found it in the trash backstage and is selling it on ebay. Would be kinda cool to have, if I had the dough to throw around.
That's awesome. How fucking cool would it be to have that mirror in your place? I bet when you gaze deeply into it, you see glimpses of the magic it has witnessed/help create.
Typo police! Anyone notice that he put that Darkside was from Merge Records when they were from Matador? Glad someone saved it and that some third world person is benefiting from the proceeds.

I love Darkside and was watching some of their live videos and thinking when (not if) they come back, how much better they could be with a bass player and drummer. Like as more of a "full band". They're amazing now, but I think that could make their live shows that much better.

100% disagree. Sorry. You are incorrect. Not everything has to follow the traditional structure of a "band". Their live show was completly mind blowing enough as it is. A live drummed and bass player would untiring the chemestry and flow of the show

You definitely are right about the chemistry, because just watching the two play music you can visually see the chemistry..not to mention hear it in the music they're playing. Their live show is one of the most mind blowing I have ever seen, I just think a full band could bring more energy.

You clearly didn't look into the wormhole long enough.

haha sadly I was on the verge of falling asleep during their Roo show. Not because it was boring, not by any means, because like I said its one of the best shows I've ever seen. But I was just so damn tired by that point Saturday night that I was falling asleep while standing up.
FYI - Nicolas Jaar played a DJ set in Brooklyn last night/this morning. I'm pretty sure it was his first performance in some time.
Maybe this is a sign of things to come?
E:apparently he did a set for NYE too
Have you listened to the Caribou Radio 6 mix? He says the first track he plays is a secret and that we are welcome to guess who it is. I could be very wrong, but I was thinking Nico Jaar.
