I don't really see the reasoning behind voting someone off just because they haven't posted. I am asking purely because I don't understand the reasoning, and maybe I should change my vote too? or not because you want a runoff?

Not to put words in Boners mouth, But basically if continues to miss he gets kicked off anyways and then we are in trouble of loosing 2 townies in one day. The argument can be made it's better to just nip it in the butt ahead of time. This is all true but at the same time gives the mafia I good opportunity to jump right on, leave little on the table and get an easy kill. I'd be in the camp of letting him survive day 1 and then immidietly kill him day 2 after we have a whack to work with.

12) Voting will be open for 36 hours each round, or until everyone has cast their vote - whichever comes first. Voting will never follow the 36-hour rule on the weekends. The Referee will only ever close voting on a Saturday or Sunday if all players have already cast their vote. If a player has not voted by that time, their vote will not be counted. If a player misses two votes, they are out of the game regardless of how good your reason is. When it is decided that a player is out, they will be killed off during the day alongside whoever would have been killed by vote. a) If the Inspector has not made a guess within 36 hours during a Night round, the Inspector will forfeit that guess. b) If the Mafia have not reported a whack victim within 36 hours during a Night round, the Mafia will forfeit that whack and the Townspeople will receive another round of voting during that Night round to offset the missed whack.
If roonectar is townie, there's a possibility that 3 townies could die in night 1 with the whack.
If we vote him out, then maybe only 2 townies die, assuming roonectar wouldn't be mafia in this case, due to him logging in since the game started.

It's the losing 2-3 townies in one day that would be my concern. If it goes to a run off, he's going to be out of the game anyway.
Anyway, hopefully he shows up so we don't have to let this distract.

this doesn't make any sense to me... first you post and say you have "minor suspicions" then you say you didn't mean "in a suspicions sense"... are you suspicious of ella, or of why jimmy voted for her? or did I read something wrong?

i kinda feel like id like to see Surfbum in the run off, as im not sure i buy his "its been so long, i'm so confused" story, if mafia thought roonectar might not show, as i did, having this out in the open helps them muddy the waters, I should have waited on my vote change i guess. But im probably reading too much into all that, but what else is there to go on. That said, I absolutely don't want to take Roonectar out (unless he can manage to make an appearance). Tejas could get another look as well for the early stack, but his story does check out. Maybe LD was banking on tejas following through? Seems like a typical crazy ass LD kinda move (purely complimentary friend).

Ya basically 2 trains of thought. First post I meant I had some minor suspicions of Ella 2nd post(or 3rd I guess) I meant the way I asked might have felt I was suspicious of jimmy, which I wasn't and think I clarified.
Also, I almost liked the post too. The post was in jest and therefor I look at it "out of the game", sort of like Phi's early post.

Tejas mentioned in the sign up thread that he'd be voting for hakuna. He then actually voted for Hakuna, despite him already having one vote. I'm somewhat comedically suggesting that you foresaw this happening, and jumped in there early, so as to make tejas look suspicious right off the hop.

I didn't know that rule was officially added. I remember it always being discouraged but not an actual rule (I haven't played in a game or two). Either way, it's pretty harmless which is why I chose to throw caution to the wind.
Also, I'm giving it another couple hours before I switch my vote to roo nectar. Starting at 9 I'm going to be in court and won't be able to check in. Hopefully if he checks in between 9 and round's end, someone else with a vote on him will have the common sense to move 1 vote off him so we can have a runoff.

We are already heading towards an Ella vs. Jimmy vs. Roonectar runoff, so it looks like a runoff happening one way or another as it stands.
I will be asleep by 12pm EST, as that's 3am here - but I'm leaving it at my discretion to keep voting open until late afternoon / early evening Wednesday if Sleepy is just too sleepy.
EDIT: As for the liking rule, I don't have an issue with it if it's not directly to gameplay - but because likes aren't time-stamped, I do think it's a good rule to have in general. It needs to be judged on a case-by-case basis IMO.

tho i agree everything is questionable, using THIS as your grounds for a vote change looks far more questionable than him liking me chirping Hakuna.
well at the beginning there's nothing much to go on, pretty much everything is a shot in the dark. although yes, everything is questionable. which leads me to two things (hard to add the quotes on my phone): 1. Hakuna, what suspicions do you have about Ella? 2. Jimmy, really, because it's in the rules on the first post. no liking no matter how seemingly innocent. IIRC the rule wasn't about the content of the post that was liked but that people can't see likes on mobile etc and we wanted a level playing field.
also. I think the fact that roonectar still hasnt checked in makes him less likely to be mafia, bc why would they risk losing one so early for something so stupid? it's only happened in one game that I've played though so maybe it's part of some weird strategy?
I'm not sure about this runoff... Ella, roonectar and jimmy.. Ella has a tendency to be quiet regardless of role and often stays under the radar so I'm surprised to see her in the runoff first round, Jimmy is good at either town or mafia so I would hate to lose him if he's townie, but it would be nice to eliminate him early if he's mafia, and I don't know what to make of roonectar at this point
I know there's always debate about a 3 vs 4 person runoff, but I'll stay where I am for now

I thought it was common sense to vote off roo nectar if he doesn't check in. But with some people actually discussing a runoff (did you read the discussion about killing off 3 townies vs 2?), I want to make the switch now. I don't want to make it seem like I'm waiting till last second to prevent people from voting how they want.
Also, besides wanting to give roo nectar a shot to check in, a reason why I waited to switch is because I'm concerned with Ella being so quiet despite having 2 votes on her and potentially going to runoff . Very strange to be so quiet IMO when facing a runoff. Having said that, I can't go by and let mafia potentially kill 3 townies by having roo nectar disqualified (if he's a townie) for not checking in. I'm not thrilled to remove Ella from a run off but I think I'm doing the right thing for the town

Do you seriously think it's important to have a runoff in the event that roo nectar doesn't check in? For someone that's so hell bent on the rules I'm confused what you don't understand about roo nectar getting disqualified (and if he's a townie) potentially allowing 3 townies to die in round 1 instead of 2 if we vote him off.
Actually, he's not disqualified until there are 2 missed votes. So in theory he could go into a runoff and if he doesn't check in by the end of the first runoff we should vote him off.

that's why I didn't understand the push to vote him out now... It takes 2 missed votes. I am big on the rules and that's how I read them. I guess you can argue that if he hasn't voted by now he's not likely to check in for the second round but either way we won't lose three townies this round...
