I'm in the camp that Roonectar isn't going to show up. I didn't check, but someone said that he has logged in since the game started but didn't check in. Also this is a giant distraction. All of our attention is put on roonectar instead of trying to read other people. If we keep roonectar around till day 2 it would just be more of a distraction, and I feel like by that point the town has a lot of ground to make up for. I'd rather take my chances and kill him off day 1 and get on with the game.
So you honestly think it's a better idea to not have a run off at all. Don't give him another 24 hours or so to show up, save us from wasting a vote?
I've given it a lot of thought and can understand the Roonectar situation from both sides - and since this round has already gone on for a few days, I will make a compromise: if Roonectar hasn't checked in by the end of night one, I will consider him dead along with the mafia whack. That gives him a little extra time to check in, but won't affect day 2 gameplay if he's still AWOL. Sound fair to everyone?

This is the worst option you could give the town. If we go to a run off here, and he still hadn't voted, and someone besides roonectar gets voted out, and he doesn't show, then we could be losing the 3 townies. On the other hand, if we dried to vote him straight out, and he does show up, then we've wasted the vote (potentially)
Even in the last game I played, bogart missed a runoff vote, then was told that if he missed ANY OTHER VOTE, he would be out of the game.
We need a standard rule, not a referee's opinion. I'm wasting far too much energy on this, and nobody else seems to car, or understand what's going on.

I think when all is said and done in this game, we will need to have a referendum to clarify some rules - but until then, I am interpreting them as fairly as I can. A referee's best interpretation of the rules is the best you're ever going to get in Mafia, because not every situation or rule will be spelled out beforehand. I don't have a dog in this fight, so stop acting as if I'm trying to skew the outcome in one direction or another - I just want to give all players a fair shot here.

You complained when I said I would let him live to day two, and then again when I said night one, and now you seem to be angling to have him gone before then. We can have a runoff thats fine. I just changed my vote because I was the only vote on Jimmyroo. And if it went to a runoff I would have voted for Roonectar. But Boner your hostility towards Sleepy about this roonectar thing is weird to me. Usually you're one of the even keeled players who doesn't ruffle feathers, but you seem so adamant on this whole rule thing. Just seems very out of character and not your usual style of play.

I'm saying every other ref plays it the same except you, so I've kinda been thrown for a loop.
You made it clear that you would give him 2 game days, instead of what I had been playing before this game. I disagreed, but said I would fall in line. I adapted my strategy with the ruling you gave. Then you switched it up again. So to me, this was the second deviation from what I, and anyone who had played the games I've played, were use to. That's all. I was perfectly fine playing with the assumption that if he didn't show by the end of day 2, he'd get the boot.

. When it comes to missing votes, I've always been confrontational about it. People not caring enough to show up and play, fucks up the other 10 people's experience in the game. SFA gave me the gears pretty good in my first game for missing a vote, so maybe I've got some hang ups about it.
When I was a kid, my mother could never sit down long enough to play through a game of monopoly or whatever. Maybe that has something to do with it too. I dunno. ;-)
I agree with boner. Two votes per the rules is what I would like to see happen. If there is no runoff, he survives to day 2. If there is a runoff and he hasn't voted and we have a runoff, and still doesn't vote he should be eliminated.
I disagree with changing the rules mid game, and eliminating him after day 1 if there is no runoff would be doing that. It levels the playing field as best as could be with an AWOL player.

I would much rather go with voting on par with suspicions, but this is causing a big problem and it needs to be taken care of before we are down to a skeleton crew trying to hunt down mafia.

I think a runoff with Roonectar is the best course of action personally. Give him time to show, and see what shakes out. Then, if he is still a no show, we take him out so we don't end up losing an extra townie (if he's a townie...)
My mind going weird makes me wonder if this is a mafia ploy and he's going to pop up before the runoff concludes... ? Just a thought with no real basis seeing as he's pulling a Houdini

Chances are they will be up against roonecter, chances are mafia could all easily stack on roonecter with out any real suspicion, roonecter gets voted off. We are in better spot than if we were to swing and miss on any other townie.

Mike is a good townie, and i think the mafia would want to avoid the runoff and get him out ASAP as people might not vote for Mike because he is helpful as a townie and the risk involved would be worth keeping him around. The same can't be said for roonecter. In this situation mafia would rather it go to run off and hope that somehow we knock off a quality townie. At this point there is so little chance of a mafia member being voted off, and people who go into an early runoff may actually get overlooked next round.

I don't know which part you quoted, in response, what if he shows up? We can vote for someone who might not be a townie. As I pointed out, he's most likely a townie, therefore, he is a number we need.

And I don't disagree with you that it would be possible to maybe nab mafia given a runoff, but I feel that it would be risky since it would give ample opportunity for mafia to also spin suspicion around another townie, putting us in an equally crappy situation, losing a townie in the runoff, one in the whack, and then roonectar still being ineffective unless he steps it up about 150%.
I agree with Hakuna on this one. Roonectar hasn't logged in since March 23rd at 7:40 AM. That's almost 60 hours ago. And even if he shows up, I'm still probably going to vote for him to die. It's too early to say anyone else deserves to be voted off. And, again, Hakuna is right that focusing on Roonectar like this is only going to benefit the mafia. Let's get this over with and move on. I tried to give Roonectar a shot to check in but 60 hours is enough IMO.

I can't say I'm upset about roonectar getting the ax since he never even came to play, and I'm ok with skipping the runoff in this case simply because I don't think he will reappear. Without any more distractions, we can get down to business.

sorry boner, this is the original post I was looking at of yours... I was reading back through and it seemed like a change of position to me, going from wanting him to be voted off to absolutely wanting to keep him in. but you're right in that you never said you wanted it done before the runoff so my bad on that. I have been on my iPhone too and trying to keep conversation going but it's more difficult.. usually I quote everything so I'll try to do that again going forward.
