So piggy pablo mentioned Mafia 125 and maybe making it a zoom game. I'll also add that I thought maybe a supersized game made sense for 125. Let's discuss rules here.
If I remember correctly Mafia 100 was with 25 players - 6 mafia, 2 inspectors (given same name), doctor, vigilante. I'm not opposed to 25 players but we'd really have to get people to play who haven't played in awhile, and find a ref.

It might be worthwhile to combine Secret Hitler. The mafia all protect a Hitler, or mafia boss, and if the boss is killed-town wins. We'd probably have to beef up mafia support but think it could be fun and easier to do with more people
What kind of mafia support would be needed? Interested in hearing more Silver Surfer.
I just think if all town has to do is kill one person then mafia needs to have a little more control. Or at the very least the game ends faster somehow. In Secret Hitler there is no inspector, which might be interesting to try if we strengthened the doctor's role or something

I would absolutely take part in a zoom mafia game, and I agree with LD here. I wouldn't want the first zoom game to also be a supersized one. Maybe 125 could be a test run for zoom, and the next one be a supersized game

All fair points.
I'm going to suggest after the current game that we play Mafia 88 first, because it's missing/never played and I want to play with doctor again before we go into a weird game.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
What if town knew inspector or just was given a townie name
The former seems tooooo powerful for ALL of town to know inspector, but I like the idea of the latter.
On the contrary, I think it's a pretty easy way for mafia to figure out who inspector is pretty quickly. Town would give away who inspector was fairly quickly one way or another.
To Kanye's second idea, I think that'd just further diminish inspector's role in a game where town already has the scales weighted against them.

Mafia is on an 8 game winning streak and since Mafia 100 they have a 16-8 win/loss ratio. Role reveals after lynches would make this game more evenly balanced.

To the second point, if it was just the same confirmed townie for everyone, including inspector/doctor then it might work. It gives inspector a higher chance to guess mafia and also lets townies have someone to agree with a little bit. I think the unknown of rolls is what makes the game so hard for town because no one knows what ideas are towny or not. It makes every so defensive

I’m absolutely down to try out role revealing post lynch.

I think that we have too small of a sample size to determine the degree of benefit the Doctor role has to town overall, and I'd like to see that play out a bit more before we start adding more things to help town. Unless you guys were just referring to a larger game, then nevermind. I think having a single Known Townie is an interesting idea though. Would only townies know who the known townie is or would Mafia know too? Ooh or maybe the Known Townie doesn't know they're the Known Townie, so it just seems to them like everyone's being real supportive of them. Haha that amuses me.
I like the idea of Mafia Boss in a larger game, like game 100.
How would a Zoom game work? I've never played Mafia in real life.
Also does anyone remember why there wasn't a Mafia 88?

I've been playing with my friends during quarantine. It's pretty damn fun. We all turn our cameras / mics off for like a minute when it's time to submit a whack or guess.
There's probably other numbers that got skipped over. Several abandoned and restarted games. In my research trying to find the LD flipped Bonzai game, I saw there was a 49.5.

In actuality, Jaz, I'm sure that 88 is missed because the ref in 87 changed to "recruiting for 88", the ref of the next game saw 88 and thought the next game was 89. Simple mistake.

piggy pablo see this and above so as not to fill up the game thread.
Someone want to explain the reason for changing "lynch" to "stone"?
It's 2020 and we aren't racist.
That's understandable. I'm just not sure if I like "stoning" either, as it just sounds weird and they still do shit like that in Saudi against women and heretics.
There like any fun, old timey ways where unruly mobs killed people? Burn at the stake? Hangings? Drawn and quartered? Ritual human sacrifice to the ancient gods?

It also doesn't have to be death.
What about "Was told the takeout order from Outback could not be fulfilled and rioted" like a real April/May 2020 Suburban Karen.

lol
Or if it's like Survivor, where they just get voted out. You could replace the "Doctor" role with one random player having an immunity idol.

Agreed, doesn’t have to be death. I liked the idea of “exile”

the game Title “Mafia” and term “whack” are very offensive and work to generally portray Italians in a negative light. As a Milano, I think we need to move the entire setting of the game into space and build our own setting and terms for murdering people in different ways.
While I’m kinda joking, I do think this would be a fun little project and it would solve any issues people have with the terminology.
