So.... it turns out I might be going to roo alone. And it's my first time. Now I'm getting nervous!
My first Roo was basically on my own, and I didn't know anyone here at the time (I did meet moonshine3 on the last day by chance). I had a blast. Seriously, don't give up yet. Let me know if you want me to tell you about my experience. I love to talk.

Better go ahead and tell me lol I would feel much better knowing you survived and weren't raped hahah
totes stressing! long drive by myself and i'm short so setting up an ez up tent by myself might be hilarious LMAO
Ez-Up is simple to do by yourself. You just stake down one corner to serve as the second person. As far as getting it to the full height, you just go around to each corner and click it up halfway then go around again and click it up the whole way.

Can you break up your drive? As for the EZ Up, unload it & ask for help. There will be plenty of people around to help you. Offer them beer, food, etc. for their services.

i do have a college roomie that lives in nashville if I had to. Good ideas. And I never would have thought to use beer as a bartering tool. THANKS!!!!

My idea doesn't involve social interaction, so it's obviously better.

should probably practice this weekend, huh? lol
I always recommend people set up their camp at least once at the house before they go to Roo. Tents can be tricky too if you haven't used it before.

If you're unfamiliar with camping in general, or have a new tent, I absolutely second the idea of doing a trial run at home. Every year when I'm setting up, there's always one or two around me that are completely bewildered by their tent. They usually look at you like you're a genius after you help them
And don't worry about setting up the EZUP, you can get help very easily from a neighbor. I bet you don't even have to ask for help. I bet someone sees you, and just offers to help

I've camped my whole life, I've just never used an ezup tent before lol since I'll be doing most of my last minute shopping this weekend, i guess ill go ahead and try and put everything up. Wish me luck! lol And you're right. I would offer help to someone if I saw them struggling

Whole reason I decided to attempt Roo, which was to be my first festival ever, was that it was my brother's 30th birthday that week. He lives in MS so I don't get to see him often. His favorite band is WSP, mine is Arcade Fire. So it seemed that the stars aligned. Now let my preface this by saying that I love my brother, and if he ever sees this, Nick, love you. But I should have NEVER done a festival with him. He got completely shitfaced by 11am Thursday, said a lot of stuff he shouldn't have said to me, pissed me off big time, and passed out for the rest of the day/night. Needless to say, we only saw each other for a few minutes every morning. The rest of the time, I did it solo. I got to see whatever I wanted to see, go wherever I wanted go, when I wanted to. Made friends with people camping next to me & in Centeroo. Yes, I did have help setting up & breaking down camp, but as for the whole experience, going at it solo worked out great for me. I'm still here, I've been back every year since, and absolutely no rape attempts were made.

Ok. I won't lie. your post made me super excited. You're probably right about going alone -- when it comes to live music, you don't want to be tied down by someone else's different music choices.

I absolutely love going alone. I love the freedom. I can stand or sit wherever I want for a show. I don't have to worry that someone is not enjoying it. I have gone solo for the last few years and its the best. I practice setting everything up in advance, but have found that people are kind enough to help if you ask.
So.... it turns out I might be going to roo alone. And it's my first time. Now I'm getting nervous!
Are you GA or VIP? I have half a campsite to share in VIP since I'm going solo. Otherwise, 1karen1 is looking for someone to bunk with. You've got options!
Ha. You make it sound so much better than the way I was pitching it
Yes. I'm possibly looking for someone to bunk with. It is in no way because I'm as useless as they come this year and just need someone to care for me.

I have work in Nashville this year right before Roo so I decided to buy a ticket and head over while I'm nearby. This will be my first time attending and I'm pretty excited. I'll be heading there alone as well and hopefully can meet some of you all in Camp Inforoo. I won't be arriving until Thursday night and plan on car camping. I'll be trying to meet up with some cool people throughout the event and hopefully can find camp inforoo even if I'm not staying there.

This is my fourth year in a row going to Roo but the first I'll be going by myself. I must say I'm very much looking forward to the freedom. In 2011 I had to deal with a couple going through a breakup, which basically meant a 30 minute fight before leaving camp each day. In 2012 it was a couple falling in love and wanting to do everything together without trying to make me feel like I was being left out. Instead of just being free for four days to see what I wanted I had to deal with guilt trips whenever I tried to break off to do my own thing. Last year I was dealing with new folks who didn’t understand that its not best to party all day at Bonnaroo. While each day started out fun, it would always end in a nasty argument and me leaving the group to get some peace and quiet. Now that said every year I've went I've had an amazing experience, including some great memories with those friends, but I would be lying if I didnt admit that most of those amazing experiences came from being by myself, free to do what felt right at that moment. So while I'll miss my friends this year, I think this Roo has the potential to be the most rewarding experience I've had on the farm.
I was working late one night on one of the many events I had been planning and decided that I was going to attend Bonnaroo this year. Yes, I am one of those that think things through first, but when my decision is final I always follow through. With that being said, I am going alone as well. I have never been to Bonnaroo, but this year's line-up (mainly Ben Howard and Elton John) was too good to pass up. I guess I am what you call a pro at traveling alone because to me it is the only way to do what you want, when you want. I work hard each and every day for my well deserved week vacation and this year I am doing something completely out of my element. However, I am not camping at the farm; instead, I am choosing hotel living and being a lame day parker. I have been to several concerts, but nothing quite this large; moreover, I am very excited to take in every aspect (minus drug use) of Bonnaroo. I figured if I can take a two week and 3,500 mile road trip all by my lonesome throughout the West, going alone to Bonnaroo would be even better. I am ready to meet new people and hear their stories; plus, I am ready to breakthrough my daily professional mold for four days and just have the time of my life. Besides, I am turning thirty this month (May 22) and what is a better gift to myself than a new experience. I hope you have an awesome time.
Happy Birthday! Woo Woo!!! Glad you're going to join Bonnaroo this year. You'll have a blast, just be ready to be blown away.
Looks like I'll be solo this year too. I've had at least a few buds the past four years, but this time I'm probably just going to try and find some people to split gas with and either force them to be my friend or split off and do tent only solo. I always go to a lot of shows by myself, but it's always nice to have people to hang with at the camp site.
If anyone between dallas and manchester wants to split gas, send me a message. I'm looking for passengers.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
