I ended up getting a text from one of the guys I camped next to last year. He's going VIP with his brother, but his brother's friend has a GA ticket and it's his first time going. In lieu of him having somewhat of a confusing struggle on his hands (which is no way to start off your first 'Roo) I told them I'd reroute a little and pick him up in Knoxville, where they're staying tomorrow night. So I'll be getting in line off the interstate (hopefully) around 6/7am. If any of you happen to see a little red Subaru with shade tent enclosed by tapestries, pop by and say hello! Happy 'Roo All!!
Jdrum3... yes I will. I check in at the high school @ 7 am Wednesday then I run home and load the truck provided they have the camp passes as promised.
Fwiw I have two 10 x 10 canopies and a 5 person tent. Plus my truck. I almost need 1 1/2 spaces lol.

Nice! I plan on rolling in Tuesday, as long as the have camp passes, I'll be in orange Honda Element, canopy with orange top and UT sidewall
Sounds good buddy. If you can save me some space I'll pull up there next to you. Like I said I will need probably two parking spaces for all my junk. I have a red dodge ram 4 door truck. I also have a "homeless" person I met last year who needed a tent so I'm bringin extra tent for him as well.
Well I'm SO glad I decided to go after all. I was literally never alone and it was easy as fuck to make friends. The people I camped with were pretty awesome and so were the neighbors. I'm already excited for next year

I went solo but with some Camp Inforoo people and I was definitely never alone, either. It was easy to schedule with people to attend shows together, and then on the times when I was around by myself I almost inevitably ran into some Inforoo people I knew.

TOTALLY WORTH IT. I volunteered and picked up a really cool dude I met on Ricky Rides but otherwise went by myself. I met so so SO many incredible people this weekend that I am not even a little bit bummed I went by myself. Just thought I would share my experience for any future ladies debating on going by themselves. The answer is: abso-fvcking-lutely. Just be safe

Jdrum3 and I had our own little camp inforoo compound in vendor camping. Since I had the extra shade we also has several other neighbors join us for the entire weekend and made some very good friends. Don't ever be afraid to go to Bonnaroo by yourself. It's very easy to make friends
I had a great time by myself. My camping neighbors were really nice and helped me set up my stuff. It was awesome to not worry about what someone else was doing all weekend. I also talked to more strangers this year than in the past 2 years combined. It was nice, and a good experience. I'll definitely do it again next year if none of my friends want to go.
Went alone and had a great experience even though it was plagued with bad luck... First thing happened was my tent breaking upon setup, but my neighbors were kind enough to help me tie it to their canopy so it held up over the weekend. Second thing, lost my wallet with like $200 cash & my license in it after a ride back to pod 10 on Saturday night. Luckily I had a friend there who leant me some $ to get through the rest of the fest. I guess it was meant to happen... 13th Bonnaroo, on Friday the 13th weekend, full moon... yknow. haha
BUT, all that said, I had a great time, everyone was very helpful, and I'd still go alone again next year. Makes it easier to see the shows you want to see and go where you want to go. Next time though, cash is going in my sock, and wallet is staying locked up somewhere as secure as possible. Doubt I'll ever see it again, but maybe some kind soul out there will find it during the clean-up and turn it into the lost and found... but not holding my breath.
I may have already said this but I just wanna say Thanks for all the advice I got from you guys. This was definitely one of the best memories of this year. Everyone and everything was amazing!! Even the guy who passed out in my tent that I actually knew but was too "out of it" to recognize him... I thought he was a terrorist super Mario brother :/

Hi, my name is Peter. I am from Lowell, MA. I've gone to Bonnaroo three times (2010, 2011, & 2014). There is a possibility that I will go alone. I could all the tips and advice I can get haha.

The most important info you need to know if you go alone: everything you learned in 2010, 2011 and 2014. If you've done Roo 3 times you know what you're getting into. I've done 6, 1 alone, and 1 where I camped alone due to arriving a bit late and not having space by my usual crew. Going alone was a little different but most things worked out just the same, the main difference being I had to push myself to be a little more social with strangers, which isn't a bad thing.
If you are driving by yourself it should be easy to bring whatever camp gear you want, if you have it. Don't forget the shade, don't lose your keys, and don't party so hard you get stupid and pass out somewhere inappropriate. That drive is brutal - I know where Lowell is due to my sister having lived around Bedford and Concord for a while - and just from there to Ohio was bad enough. Definitely a 2-day drive each way to Roo, unless you can carpool. Flying would be nice, but bringing gear and dealing with booze and coolers and stuff is difficult then unless you have an unlimited budget, especially for a single person. Some others here have a lot of experience with that though.

I fly from Boston to Nashville (yay Southwest!) and then hitch a ride to the farm, but I do it all solo as well. I usually bring my big hiking pack which fits my sleeping bag, tent, sleeping pad, some clothes (luckily it's summer so clothes don't take up a lot of space), and some medical gear. My carry on is usually any tech (ie cell phone and portable charger) and solid food (apples, maybe some bread, etc). And then at least for my last two times, I was lucky and met a girl who also volunteered and went solo so she'd pick me up at BNA and then we'd go to Walmart to stock up on booze/peanut butter/any remaining important pieces.
Bad part was I've never had shade and don't have a backup if my tent fails for whatever reason, but good thing is that I get to go to Roo each year!
If you've got any questions about flying, feel free to PM me!
This is going to be my Second Roo and my First Solo... Im not worried though. Plan, pack extra water and make friends. My biggest down from last year was the girl that came with me. She never wanted to do anything and I let it ruin my experience. If nothing else, I so much look forward to going by myself this year to properly experience Roo to its fullest. Find my in the middle having fun by my damn self.... Just thought I'd share.

I travel in the car solo and meet up with someone at walmart and we setup camp together. Camping/traveling solo shouldn't be hard at all, especially since you've been before. As for the music, I'd suggest networking on the boards and plan some meetups to see shows with other people. I know last year I meet up with several different people and caught shows or kicked it at campsites with people I'd never met before.

and then we had an orgy, it was sweet
while listening to widespread panic. it was total chaos at bonnaroo. see. going solo isn't that bad at all!

Exactly the right attitude man!
I was kinda the same my first year with the guy I went with. My 2nd year was amazing and I met so many cool and wonderful people. There were some sets I caught by myself but for the most part, i was never alone. I did walk around Friday night in my TMNT costume and got stopped by a lot of people and got a ton of high fives. It was awesome. I'm planning on doing the same thing again this year pretty much. Just seems like hardly anyone I know from last year is going this year

I probably won't be alone this time around, but I plan to be camped right outside Camp Inforoo again. I'll see you there!
Some people just aren't built for Bonnaroo. My wife went once, that was enough for her.

Hello and welcome der sokfest! If you're flying I can't offer much advise but Yellow Boots sounds like she knows what she's talking about. I've gone solo a couple years. The second year I went to Bonnaroo I struck out on my own! I'm an incredibly socially awkward person yet after only being there long enough to park and open a beer I made a friend who was there solo as well. We combined forces and tromped our way to Tents Only! That year remains my favorite roo. Being able to explore wherever I wanted to whenever I wanted to was glorious! You'll love it! Sounds like you've done roo enough times that you what it takes to survive. Just do more of that!
If nothing else, I so much look forward to going by myself this year to properly experience Roo to its fullest.
Amen to this! These days I lay down some easy ground rules if I'm meeting or bringing people there. You are going to do your thing! I am going to do my thing! They will not always be the same thing! THAT IS OK! Let's do this and make hazy memories!

No one I usually go with is planning on going this weird. I might actually be going alone.
Oh no
It's not as bad as you'd think, I did my first Roo solo and another camping fest solo. It's always great to have friends, but it also gives you a lot of freedom, being able to strike it out on your own, you'll meet plenty of cool people anyways. Personally I prefer going with people though.

I found myself in the exact same position last year. It turned out to be a great start to Bonnaroo! I had to leave early due to a family emergency, but that's unrelated.
