Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

One more question about Disclosure -- why are they the only EDM act in there timeslot, when LN Saturday ends with 4 EDM acts at once? TBH this is a bigger issue than whether they compare Ice Cube. If they were up against Darkside or Zedd or Glitch Mob, it wouldn't be half as crowded as it'll end up.

That's a good question. It's going to be a really shitty crowd too. It'll be like LCD Soundsystem where all the candy kids showed up who knew nothing about the band except that they were "electronic."
edit: I realized this was really stupid because Disclosure really is the band they want to see, it's just that it will all be concentrated in one place rather than split among a couple acts.

Festivals being more mainstream is resulting in "older" bands and performers increasingly taking the headlining spot. It's more the driving factor for having a performer like Elton John (appeals to older audience because of nostalgia, appeals to younger audience because it's a legendary performer they've likely never seen live). I don't see it driving pop artists to replace mainstream artists, unless 13-year olds suddenly become the people who buy all the VIP tickets to 'Roo.
This is decent logic, but you've got a basic fact backwards: over the past several years, contemporary acts have been selling festival tickets more than older acts have, causing more and more festivals to book current acts. These bands aren't Justin Bieber or Rihanna, because that's not the festival crowd; they're usually acts popular with 20-something music fans (so more rock, hip hop and EDM than teen pop) and they're often critically acclaimed acts such as Kanye West or Vampire Weekend or Phoenix.
At festivals like Lolla and Coachella, these younger acts have tended to displace older legacy acts, though recent-ish acts from the 90s/2000s usually hang on. At Bonnaroo, they've mostly displaced jam bands, who are even less of a festival draw these days.
In any case, you cloud the 'mainstream influence' debate when you start talking about Ice Cube and Justin Bieber as though they were the same thing. One's a legacy 90s gangsta rapper, one's Justin Bieber. For many reasons, Ice Cube is a big draw at Bonnaroo. He's huge, famous, influential, made great music, and doesn't perform live all that often these days.
Really though, this whole Disclosure/Ice Cube thing is silly. Ice Cube's not going on the Other Tent. It would make more sense for him to switch with Arctic Monkeys or Wiz Khalifa, but I didn't write the schedule. Disclosure's set was going to be crowded anyway. They were always going to be playing a LN tent. People are concerned because not all the acts they're up against have mass appeal (an unannounced superjam and a niche band) and Disclosure's in the smallest tent. If anything, they should simply be in one of the other two tents and/or playing a later timeslot.
Well I mean, let's be honest, any "X band should be on Y stage at Z time" debate is going to be ridiculous, because 80,000 people are not going to agree on who their favorite artists are, or how they want to arrange their schedules. I've found time to become kind of a meaningless concept once you're on the farm. The move from "Phish" to "Skrillex" is a little weird, but EDM is money. I'm personally happy with this year's lineup, the artists chosen all have real depth to their music, regardless of genre.
I'm not overly concerned about the final schedule, it'll be what it is.

"But according to the Net sleuths over at Inforoo (the popular site that bills itself as the "premier source of Bonnaroo information on the Web since 2004"), a glitch in the 2014 Bonnaroo iOS App resulted in this year's schedule being prematurely posted yesterday."
We are such net sleuths.

The fact that Capital Cities has the Which this year after no new album (that I am aware of) and had the Miller Light tent at the rise of their popularity last year is baffling. The show really cant deviate from the last one from what I seen in 2013, except maybe a little less safe and sound remixes on a loop and more awesome horns.

because Roo can only handle a massive portion of the crowd going to bed early once per weekend.

This has happened twice at Bonnaroo before. In 2009, one night was NIN, Moe, Ben Harper and MGMT: the other ended with Paul Oakenfold/Girl Talk/Pretty Lights.
Same with 2011 - Friday ended with Pretty Lights/Ratatat/Shpongle while Saturday had a decent mix.
Bonnaroo sometimes says screw it, all the electronic needs to happen.....NOW

Agreed Umphreys Saturday night would have been great for everyone not into the EDM scene. Umphs has a killer light show and can play forever its a shame their during the day which constricts them to a scheduled set.

Yeah, I feel like booking them during the afternoon was a huge waste. At least this means it'll be easy to get into the pit for them.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree about Umphrees, trading them with Chance the Rapper and then flipping them with a Saturday EDM act would move things around nicely.

I could see them doing a surprise show or set with Umphrey's at night. Maybe a parade band or a pop-up show like they've done with some acts the past couple years.

All they have to do is call their tour "Glow In the Dark" and they can get that coveted LN set you're looking for.
Thurs: Allah-Las>ZZ Ward>Real Estate>Cherub>Omar Souleyman>J. Roddy...Honestly un-informed on Ty Segall & Pusha-T so I'll likely float
Fri: Brunch>St. Paul>Dr.Dog>Umph>The Orwells>Animals as Leaders Vs. NMH Quack Me!> Mastodon vs. Ice Cube vs. SuperJam Double Quack Me!> Skrillex vs. Die Antwoord vs. Meshuggah running around for a bit of each, Animals as Leaders into Mastodon might just put me out anyways, I'm getting a bit old for extended mosh-pitting
Sat: Seasick Steve vs. King Kahn tough quacking choice> Cake vs Bobby Womack, wanted to see Womack cause I'm betting him and Damon Albarn do something, but Cake has to get checked off my 90's bands seen list>The Bouncing Souls, you kids are sleeping on this one and you are missing out!>Grouplove vs Cage vs. Albarn, Grouplove is my guilty pleasure this year, not missing them>S.Stoopid>Lionel vs Lauryn, Why at the same time!>Jack White>F-lips>Darkside

Thursday: Maybe some Comedy, just gotta make it to J. Roddy Walston in time for a good spot.
Friday: St. Paul & The Broken Bones> Eat Pie> UM> Head & the Heart (pit hopefully)> Eat Pie on the way to Vampire Weekend> Party and prepare for late night> Mastodon> Defheaven> Meshuggah> Try to survive the night!
Saturday: Iced Coffee/Gatorade/Water/Recover> Seasick Steve> First Aid Kit> Cake> Cage the Elephant> Lionel> get in pit for JACK WHITE!!!> Flaming Lips
Sunday: Iced Coffee/Gatorade/Water/Recover and hang out at What all day (pit for Avetts) and prepare to sing along to Tiny Dancer with all you beautiful people!
Jack White and FL back to back is nuts. And Sunday is a cluster for me being a big Folk/Bluegrass listener. Will miss Shovels & Rope, Amos Lee and Bluegrass Superjam but atleast I will get my fix with Chocolate Drops, Yonder MTN and The Avetts. Conflicts were expected so we just gotta roll with it.
