Peter Conlon. Atlanta's favorite concert promoter and truly a man of the people:
"People who pretend to be musicians who really aren't — especially local musicians. ... If you're working in a bar, and you're a bartender but you play in a band, you're a bartender. It's how you make your living. If you're making your living as a musician full time, you're a musician. This is a business of talent. People in this business seek talent out. If you're talented, someone's gonna find you and you're gonna get discovered. If you're still flailing around and you're in your late 20s or 40s, you probably don't have any talent and you should really look at plan B. A lot of people come to me and they're still waiting to get discovered, but look, it's hard to hide talent. In our business, people will find you and make you a star. When people claim to be musicians but they're working as bartenders or waiters, it's just not the same thing. It takes away from the people who really do have talent."
Oh, you missed a band's entire set waiting in line at the porto-johns? Peter Conlon says that's your fault, you lazy @ss:
" The port-a-lets thing: We actually had plenty of port-a-lets last year; they just weren't all in one spot. If you have them all in one spot you have a tremendous gathering of ugly port-a-lets. They're spread throughout the site. People wanted to go to the ones that are right at the back of the meadow, because they're right there, but they had to stand in line. Around the corner and maybe another 100 feet away, there are more. We couldn't put any more of them by the field. If we did there wouldn't be room for people; not to mention you don't want to stand next to 150 port-a-lets during the show."

"It would be easy for me to say let's do it for $125 and have less people there, but I want to make it affordable to a cross-section of people. It's a tough nut at times."
"Our business plan is simple: Show a good, diverse lineup for an inexpensive ticket. $90 for two days — $45 a day — you couldn't see any of these acts on their own for that."

...aaand tickets are exactly $125 with no single day options. Again, bravo to MM!
EDIT: The husband and I will STILL be in Atlanta that weekend and would love to do a brunch or dinner with any Inforoosters in town!

If we're not in Athens for the weekend (White Denim!), then we'll meet up with y'all.
Also, this whole thing is crap. The news-anchor said "Oh what nice entertainment." I just started yelling at her.
I am very sad that I don't care for this years lineup. Midtown was always one of my favorite weekends the past few years. I might try for a 1 day pass for Jack White though.

No single days this year apparently bc Peter Conlon fucking hates you.

Ok, if he doesn't want my money then I'm totally cool with that. The best part of jack's roo set was his encore and they wouldn't let him go past time at midtown anyway. If anyone wants me, I'll be in the corner not pouting...

But you can spend $30,000 on a f*ckin cabana package.
Seriously, it's a f*ckin pity that @sshole runs the biggest and most well known festival in Atlanta. I hope everybody already spent their money on Outkast and Tomorrow World. Personally, I'm taking my money to book a trip to New Orleans to eat mushrooms in the French Quarter and watch Caribou.

This festival does one day passes though. Just saying.

That is an awesome plan, sir. I knew I could count on you.

Now THAT'S a fucking plan. You hittin' up his show at Terminal West in November?
I might crack and go this year since I really want to see Jack White, and John Mayer is alright and people said Eminem puts on a good show but I'm gonna wait for the additional acts and if it's decent I'll go
One day removed, I have to say that the lineup is growing on me, albeit slightly. There are maybe 6 or 7 acts that interest me. I like the dual headliners to split the crowd up. Plus, with so few acts that I really care to see, there hopefully won't be any conflicts.
I am one of the few people who like this lineup. I guess I am a "white girl". Where`s the closest Starbucks to Piedmont Park?
I don't hate the lineup. It's a situation where I like a good bit of the lineup but I wasn't exactly anticipating seeing most of them. John Mayer, ok sure, he's good live. Zac Brown, ok, I've heard they put on a good show.

Makes sense. I missed Jack at Roo , so I have a second chance to catch him. I have really gotten into Zack Brown the last year or two , so he will be good to see.

Same here. I think I'll go, and I think a few close friends (and several of you guys) will go. And I like the lineup pretty well. I just always hope for a headliner that I've never seen, which admittedly is getting harder and harder. It will be fun.

Seeing Jack again plus Lorde, Banks and Lana Del Ray are reason enough for me to go. We may be doing Voodoo instead though.

If anyone in Atlanta wants to go to One Music Fest for free, there is a free ticket behind the Nas CDs in the Five Points Criminal Records. www.facebook.com/onemusicfest
If you didn't get Outkast tickets, and you're on the fence about buying a MM ticket, consider spending your money on this instead of lining Peter Conlon's pockets...
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
