I was leaning towards Frank Ocean, but I watched some live stuff and it's very low energy - mostly him just standing there and letting his voice do the rest. I'm sure it's a good show, but not really what I'm looking for in a LN performance.
Exactly what I'm saying, Im sure Nick won't be super high energy but probably more then ol Frank-O
Bassbroshop's post reminded me of this: last year at Coachella Nick Cave played right before RHCP. There was a bunch of SoCal bros camped out on the rail for RHCP, wearing black flat brimmed hats, wrap around sunglasses and RHCP branded football jerseys and shit. Nick Cave came into the crowd during Stagger Lee and stood up on the rail and basically started dry humping these dudes in the face. It was great.

This is my concern. I love channel orange but feel like the "vibe" at nick cave will be more LN appropriate.

Unless you have seen Frank Ocean and Flaming Lips, you can't miss either set. Both shows are some of the best I've ever seen. I saw Frank ocean at the Metro, for a Lollapalooza aftershow. It was the week when he came out, and his performance was pretty powerful. Hearing bad religion for the first time had me awe struck. For those who don't think he can be lively, think again. Pyramids, Novacaine, Lost, Crack Rock, are all sure to get people swaying and grooving. His vocals and that band, are something to check out for sure. I'll be at nick cave, but only because that 1-2 punch of Nick Cave into the Darkside, is too good to pass up.
Flaming lips were incredible when I saw them at NXNE in Toronto. They played for free with Portugal. the man, and Of Montreal. I was expecting to see Radiohea, that day. However, the stage collapsed while I was in line. We had to find something to do, and we checked twitter: this was the best thing happening. In 2012, I had no idea who they flaming lips were. After that night, I became a fan. They had the greatest opening to a show ever. If you wonder why they are called the flaming lips. Wait til you see their intro. I don't know if they still do that or not, but they walk out of a screen door, that is juxtaposed with a projection of a trippy woman giving birth. The vagina lips then get larger and larger, and then out comes the flaming lips. Then many more surprises occur, including; confetti everywhere, gunpowder blast through cannons, BIG ASS BALLOONS, all kinds of props, and just weirdness that you can embrace. Wayne Coyne, the front man of flips, is just a force on stage, he really gets the crowd going, he puts all his energy on that stage for 90-120 min, and while his vocals aren't Frank ocean, he has range in versatility. You are guaranteed a hell of time here.
You can't lose with Frank ocean or flaming lips. I've never seen Nick Cave, and he's not coming to Rochester, NY anytime soon. I'm catching now, before he starts not being so prolific. As far, as the Skrillex Superjam goes, the intrigue is there, but that crowd will be obnoxious, and is it worth missing a good spot on people you know will deliver, such as Frank Ocean, Flips, and Nick Cave. Or one that might let you all down, such as Skrillex. I just watched some of Skrillex's coachella set last night, and it was so unoriginal, no way I'm passing up chance the rapper or nick cave on him.
Side note: it sucks I'll miss glitch mob, who seem to be a unique EDM act, for Darkside. I consider Bassnectar to be the best EDM act, and he's always one to check out. These other acts, Kaskade, Zedd, and Skrillex mean nothing to me. And I'm all about disclosure, even if it means leaving half of Kanye's set, missed them at Lolla because of QOTSA, but not this time.

I'm going to the Lips first to catch some of The Terror, because I like that album. Seen them before but hoping I get to see something new and different. If it's the same Lips show I've seen them do then I'm off to Nick Cave. And Darkside after that regardless of what happens with FL.
I'm planning on splitting Frank and Nick. Hopefully it works out but if it doesn't, I won't be too beat up about it. I'm not dying to see any of them but I like all the acts on at that time a fair amount. I just can't see the Skrillex Superjam being anything special unless it's him combined with instrumentalists or vocalists.
Skrillex + Other DJs wouldn't be anything new. He's done back-to-back sets with Zedd before and frequently performs live with Boys Noize and Diplo.
For me it's Frank Ocean. I like Flips, but my roots in music are in Soul/R&B (I like just about every type of music though). Nick Cave I have tried to get into, but I just haven't been able to. I don't think it's bad music, I just don't enjoy it enough to consider missing Frank for it.

My initial thought was Flips into Darkside, but after some research I'm going with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds into Darkside. I've already seen the Flips in that spot before, and Nick Cave seems like it will be a religious experience. Honestly, I don't know why I had never given the Bad Seeds a listen before, they are a fracking fantastic band.

The late nights this year for me are not nearly as appealing as last years. I am hoping for something great in the SuperJam? to give me a Top 3 Memorable show for the weekend.
On Saturday I really do not have a must see act. I really can't get into Nick Cave. I am not a fan of Frank Ocean. And I can't do Skrillex. I saw the Flaming Lips and wasn't that impressed, but I listened to the Terror and I like it, and I saw some videos of the new set up and light show and I think I am gonna give them another shot. I plan on my mind to be altered a bit to where I may finally get what this band is about.
Definitely wanna catch Glitch Mob for the second late night, Maybe a little bit of Kaskade too.
Goin w/ 4 other people and none of us have ever been to anything like this music wise...very VERY stoked =) That being said, I think the safest bet for my group will be the Lips.
This my hardest decision of the weekend. I have fallen in love with the Flaming Lips since the lineup was announced and their music would be very synergistic to the mindset I plan on being in. But, also I love EDM and even though Skrillex isn't my favorite producer its going to be a once in a lifetime show and I know my whole groop will be there and if I go to The Flaming Lips I know it will be a pain to find them before Darkside. Such a hard decision.

What are you and your group thinking for after the Flips?
Also a little tangent. If you want to see an artist/band that others in your group don't, you can always split up. I know it sounds obvious but many skip out on sets they wanted to see just to be with friends. In all the cases I've done it, I regret it. You're guaranteed to meet plenty of interesting roo'ers if you decide to go to a set alone!

Starting at Frank and moving to Nick Cave & Darkside. I've seen Frank before, but it was one of his first shows ever and he was having sound issues, so it was a bit of a mess. Hoping for the show I was expecting, this time around!
As of right now I'm leaning towards Frank Ocean with FLips as the other option. But because of the talk from so many people here I'm going to dig deeper into Nick Cave's catalogue and we'll see where I end up come that incredible Saturday night in June

I asked this in the F'Lips thread but I didn't get much feedback since that thread doesn't seem to get frequented much, so let me ask you guys too: Realistically how crowded do you think Which will be for the Flaming Lips? In 2010 the crowd was beyond ridiculous, and that's even considering they were conflicting with the Black Keys, Bassnectar, and Daryll Hall/Chromeo. The Flaming Lips are my top pick for Sat night, but if it's going to be that crowded again it may steer me in other directions

There kinda setting it up the same way as 2010. I would assume all the EDM fiends that night will be sitting tight for the Superjam and Zedd. Nick Cave fans most likely will stick for darkside, and The Flips fans will scatter to the winds after the show.

Nick Cave's (slight) position at the third in this poll is incredibly heartening for me, especially since this is probably the Bonnaroo-going community that would be most excited for his set. At this point, I'm considering leaving Jack White just 15m early instead of 40-45.
Yeah, Nick Cave into Darkside. No fvcking question. My Second and Fourth most anticipated artists back to back is hard to top, even for a repeat FLips show or Frank Ocean's gorgeous crooning.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
