or just get a case of high life for $20 like a man
We had a champagne party one time where someone actually brought Miller High Life and argued it was the champagne of beers.
$100 per person, per day, is a reasonable amount of money to not have to worry about having an insanely good time. In reality, you can probably spend much less, and you should definitely get a case of beer each at the local stores before heading onto the farm.
I KNOW! And most of the vendors were just selling cans (Lager, Summer, Porch Rocker aaand something else), it wasn't until half way through 2 day 2 did we find that draft vendor that had the Rebel IPA- WAY better!!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Being able to get a Sweetwater for $7 at a fest is my dream scenario. That's what I get for living up North
Don't buy bud light at Roo. There are plenty of good beers at the brooers tent for the same price. I know Sierra Nevada was 7 last year and there were about 3-5 other $7 options in the brooers tent from various breweries
I get how Bonnaroo is strategically placing the vendors with Bud only in more places to satisfy their endorsement dealings... but I will always walk the extra 100 ft to find a craft beer vendor instead.
Idk about ya'll, but I do more than two meals a day. Centeroo pricing is just more expensive overall. I paid like $10 for a Thurman Murman and that shit was disappointingly small. I usually figure $35-60/day or so for meals with each meal running between $10-20 depending on if you get a drink (smoothie, lemonade, or beer), and probably another $15 for snacking. So If I'm spending $75 on food, it's easy to spend another $25 on beer/smoke. Again, this is budgeting high (as was requested), but even snacking throughout the day still enables you to spend a lot. Now, of course one can do Roo on much, much less - realistically you could subsist off of Clif bars and water in Centeroo and just get meals outside Centeroo at the beginning and end of the day - but like I said, my attitude on the farm is "Fuck it, I'm at Roo", so I budget high.
I think I brought $600 last year and spent like $450 total... but that includes travel and my overall budget for party favors which I ended up just bringing with me. I spent most of my money on shirts, beer, food and other random shit like tapestries and stuff.

The left side of the What Stage has a vendor where you get a HUGE plate of steak rice and beans for like $11, easily big enough for 2 people to split. Probably the best food deal inside centeroo.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Katy Mae - those deals are the ones to follow anyway because the carbs will keep you moving during the festivals. Also it shows you how cost ineffective the trucks are -- totally TASTY, but I look at it personally as splurging. Especially if you are a vegetarian or selective eater.. the portions are just not up to par

Most of the time I'm mindful of my budget but I tend to view Bonnaroo as a vacation and will splurge a little bit more than I normally would any other time.
So if I get my poster(s) out of the way the first day and do any last minute purchases in the campgrounds then I tend to only get one or two major "meals" from a food vendor and balance that out throughout the day with snacks I bring or snacks I buy (those amish pretzels are epic). After that it's mostly just waters throughout the day.
There are tons of great souvenirs you can get without spending money (each year the Adult Swim carnival thing would let me leave with a hat and shirt) and lots of other ways to save cash.

Thanks for all the advice folks.
I now know to bring somewhere between 60 and 800 dollars. Either way I will make sure I have enough so we don't have to worry. It is actually our vacation, so why not!
We will bring as much beer and whisky as we are allowed to bring in. Plus, as we are English, we like our beers warm.

in case you didn't know, 2 cases and (1) 1.75 bottle per person. and i think two boxes of wine, all must be plastic, as far as bottles go, alum cans are fine of course
I bring in ALL my drinks and spend no more than 150 at roo.
that's eating breakfast at my camp and planning for 3 $10 meals (lunch, supper, late night snack) within centeroo.
I also bring in all my drinks, because I hate beer, and they don't serve wine or liquor. So I don't spend any money in Bonnaroo on alcohol. I do buy water (they do have free water stations, but they often have long lines) and food, usually 2 meals a day and maybe a snack or two, and I usually spend around $35 a day on those. I always buy a poster and a tee-shirt ($35 each) but I put those on my band card.
please explain this magical band card you speak of?

How many is a case? 1.75 litres of spirits? How big is a box of wine?
In the UK you can't park where you camp at any festivals so the rules are basically as much as you can be bothered to carry a mile to your tent. It's usually a lot.

24 in a case (make use of buying 16oz cans if you can), yes 1.75 of spirits, and i'm not sure on wine, never buy it. quick google search shows 3-5 liters

I want to mention this: At Glastonbury, once you are inside the festival grounds, you are inside, so you can carry your personal beer/alcohol with you all day and go back to your tent and grab more, no big deal.
At Bonnaroo, the camping grounds and the festival area (Centeroo) are separate. You will be searched each time you enter Centeroo from the campgrounds. You are not allowed to bring your own alcohol into Centeroo, though many people are able to successfully sneak it in. So if you want a beer while you're enjoying a show, you'll have to pay for it. And of course, you can drink as much as you want at your camp!
I just wanted to make sure you guys plan accordingly! Expect to spend $$ on beer in Centeroo, because if you are parked a long ways away, you won't want to trek back to your tent just to booze it up.

Yeah I've been to Glastonbury. Thats the only festival I have experienced like that. Its bloody brilliant. The rest are exactly like Bonnaroo by the sounds of it. Inflated prices for crap beer, overpriced small portions of food and a whole bunch of incredible people (and some scary ones re:wooks).

You buy waters throughout the day?
Yup, but mostly while the sun is out. At night it's easier to just use the water stations. I fill up a water jug at filling stations when there's not a crowd but in general I don't like to wait around if there are tons of people doing it at the same time. Plus, the water is drinkable but not as refreshing as an ice-cold bottle. Usually if I'm walking from stage to stage I'll grab two bottles and chug one while walking and save the other one.
It's so much easier and satisfying than waiting in a crowd each time I want to re-fill. Whenever people complain about the refill station lines I just shrug and drink my ice cold water bottle.

I'm surprised you don't just use a Camelbak or something. The only thing I dislike about mine is that it makes me less mobile, but I like knowing I'm hydrated so it's worth it. Glad your water bottles work for you though, maybe I'll try that during LN this year (if I ever make it out of Centeroo).
Y'all may not believe it, but I am seriously budget minded. My entire 6.5 days on the farm last year was enjoyed on a measly onsite budget of $80.
I'm with you. I mainly snacked inside Centeroo last year, with my most of my meals and beer drinking being handled at camp, and I spent somewhere around $100 on site. I had planned on spending quite a bit more but I wasn't sure how much the speeding ticket I got on the way was going to cost me. In the end, I was glad I didn't go nuts, since the ticket was $200 and my insurance even went up (for my first ticket ever!)
This year I'll budget low out of necessity, and because I now know that I can do it and still have fun. Gonna try not to buy more than one vendor meal a day, and smuggle alcohol like a damn prohibition bootlegger. For the OP, I could easily spend 100-150 for convenience per day if that were an option.
