Best Kept Secret (8-10 June, Netherlands) just announced a bunch of acts. Headliners include LCD Soundsystem and The National. Pre-sale begins on 16 Dec.

Should probably mention that I moved to Munich in July. Looking forward to my first European festival(s), especially given the names that have been announced thus far.

Safe to say Mad Cool will be in the running for lineup of the year. Just added Alice in Chains, Portugal. the Man, Fidlar, Franz Ferdinand, Kaleo and Sofi Tukker (a number of smaller names as well, which seem like nice additions upon first listen).

Damn. After today, there's no excuse for me to not buy tickets to this festival. Ridiculous!

Only downside is that the conflicts on Thursday (for my tastes at least) are almost guaranteed to be terrible. Daily lineup:
Anybody know who the Friday headliner(s) will be? I'd assume either Eminem or Arctic Monkeys. I think they would've announced Kendrick already.
It sounds like Arctic Monkeys are almost a definite for Friday and Jack White got leaked for another European fest for early July, so it sounds like it'd be either him or Kendrick. Since Arctic Monkeys and Jack White don't have announced tour dates, it'd make sense that they're waiting to announce them. I'm officially in for a VIP ticket. $500 is a steal for this lineup and it's nice they allow an e-ticket option, so I don't have to worry about a wristbands shipping across the pond.
Honest ?. Do any jams fest exists outside of the US? Are wooks an exclusive animal to the United states (aside from those jam getaway cruises and resorts)

If Kendrick plays he would be the only hip hop artist on the entire bill.
Why are international festivals able to consistently beat the shit out of ours? What are doing wrong?
Big American fests are trying to be all things to all people. Mad Cool's lineup is mostly focused on rock and indie acts where fests here are a booking a lot of hip hop, pop, and mainstream edm in addition to some rock and indie acts.
My hypothesis for why festivals are better and passes are cheaper in Europe: the 8-15k seat outdoor amphitheaters never caught on in Europe like they did in the US. Fleet Foxes can go play SPAC or Merriweather post, and have a venue that perfectly fits their "fanbase". Those places dont really exist in Europe so they are faced with playing either a 1-2k seat club, a festival, or a basketball arena. This gives bands significantly less bargaining power so the fests can charge less for the bands to play these fests. An example: In 2014 and again in 2018 Nine Inch Nails are playing a 3,000 venue in Berlin. The venue is a courtyard of an old Berlin fortress where the green arena in the middle in turned into a stage and GA standing spot. In the US, even Bakersfield, CA has a 10k venue for Nine Inch Nails to play, which they did this year
