I'm not knocking Primavera's potential lineup by any means. It's consistently one of the best lineups every year. I'm simply saying that this year a lot of things came together to make Mad Cool an exceptionally good lineup and to think LiveNation isn't trying to target Primavera would be naive. Mad Cool went big this year, made the decision to get their lineup out first and they definitely succeeded in getting people to notice it.
But agreed, Primavera has always been about the incredibly deep and diverse undercards. It'll no doubt have a great lineup, but I'm just of the opinion we won't see a lineup like Mad Cool for awhile.
The Mad Cool director has said back in 2016 something along the lines of "we want to give Madrid a good urban music festival just like Barcelona has Primavera and Sonar". No doubt they are trying to target Primavera (and the ten other music festivals occurring on the same weekend, including BBK). But seriously, the acts I'm the most interested seeing in Mad Cool have been in Primavera over the past two to five years. Depeche Mode have played BBK just this summer, so it's kind of a rotation on the same weekend. Tame Impala and Franz Ferdinand have been all over the place (Franz played at least two Spanish festivals in 2017 and are playing at least two in 2018). I'm travelling to music fesitvals every year so I'm not that excited for the Mad Cool lineup.
I think that for you, what's special is the concentration of acts you like. Just like most Live Nation festivals, it really shouldn't be considered isn't that special - just wait for Rock Werchter. The National and Nick Cave are also playing a bunch of festivals, but rest assured Primavera will bring something else to the table. That's just the way it is.

I understand completely for anyone that has been to Primavera the last few years, Mad Cool isn't going to have the same appeal. Compared to U.S. festivals, having Justice, Japandroids, Massive Attack, Kasabian, Fleet Foxes, Future Islands, The Black Madonna etc. are rarities. European LiveNation has much better taste in music than U.S. LiveNation.

If Nick Cave at Primavera is truly gonna be a thing, that becomes a no-brainer for Americans going to Europe, since it appears that Cave won't be touring the US in 2018.

Seen him twice in November, probably the best frontman I have ever witnessed. Superb!
Given that Bilbao is the same weekend of Melt, I’m really hoping for some crossover. Looking at you Chem Bros/Jungle.
edit: oh shit, they actually added some acts already. Fever Ray, Parcels, Project Pablo, Moscoman, Andhim, Moses Sumney, and DJ Seinfield among those acts (Parcels is on Sunday and I will be in Amsterdam that day though )

After seeing Odezsa's name, it looks like that leaked lineup might be correct. Expect for FlyLo 3D.

I'm hoping that Flylo is just being held out until he announces other dates. I would be super sad if he canceled (or also plays Sunday).

Moscoman, Project Pablo and DJ Seinfeld are particularly tasty.
Pretty underwhelmed by Melt's adds today, outside of the acts jones listed.
Please Melt just add The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, or Massive Attack, so I can justify pulling the trigger!
I don't think it's happening, but holding out hope. From the looks of things they have more saturday headliners still to go though. Flying Lotus should be added at some point as well. Being able to catch him in Germany would be a real treat for us.
Obviously I need to expand my international music metal repertoire because other than Godspeed I don’t know who the hell any of those guys are.
You know Zola Jesus, I bet, and should be onboard with both Converge and Bell Witch.
I’d also say check out Mizmor, Yellow Eyes, GOST, and Cult of Luna w/ Julie Christmas for starters. Pound for pound this is the best lineup released for 2018.

Like I’m going.
I’m waiting for a young entrepreneur stupid enough to send me and a tent, a bicycle and earplugs. I’ll send postcards.
