I'm going to really try to get to Europe next summer. What's the best european festival? Did Glastonbury already sellout? Primavera is probably top of my list at this point because I would love to visit Barcelona anyway and I expect the lineup to be great as usual. Anyone have any suggestion? @jonesjupiter Phyre Festblurfanemoney anyone else that has experienced these.
2017 TICKET INFO
BASIC TICKET INFORMATION General admission full weekend tickets (valid from Wednesday 21st June to Monday 26th June) for Glastonbury Festival 2017 will cost £238 + £5 booking fee per ticket. Coach packages (including Festival tickets) will go on sale at 6pm on Thursday 6th October, 2016, with general admission tickets on sale at 9am on Sunday 9th October, 2016.
Not on sale yet. I think you'd have more luck trying to buy during the coach sale (ticket + transportation).
Personally, I've never been to Prima, but I loved Melt. It's a small festival & cheap, plus they always have quality acts right in your wheelhouse.
edit: even if you're on the fence about Glasto, you need to go ahead and register to buy tickets now. www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk/
Yeah right now I'm thinking just try for a Glastonbury ticket and see what happens. thanks for the link. I'll look more into Melt too, liked the lineup this year.

Pretty much I want a cheat sheet about how I should do this.
Sonar and Dekmantel are often hailed as two of the best electronic music festivals in the world.
I'd love to do Dekmantel but at this point I'm planning on being there earlier in the summer. If I end up pushing it back a couple months it'll definitely be on my radar though.

Are you going with a group? It's best to all be logged in and buying during on sale. Trade registration numbers and pray. First step is to get everyone registered though.

at this point I'm going solo but I'm gonna start putting some feelers out to see if any of my friends are interested. It's hard enough to get people to commit to US fests so I'm not super confident anyone will wanna do it. I'm not too worried if I do miss out on Glastonbury though, if I just replace it with a different Euro fest I'll be okay.

Rock Werchter (Belgium) just announced Arcade Fire for their final headlining spot. They will join Radiohead, Foo Fighters, and System of a Down. Damn.

Plus Linkin Park.
Werchter always has a great lineup on paper, but heard too many stories about bad programming and crappy crowds. I've also visited their sister festival TW Classic at the same location in 2009, and wasn't impressed.
Im kinda annoyed that Foo Fighters decided to play every Euro fest the same summer that I decided to go to Europe. Anyone around here been to Roskilde?
Foo Fighters went from being underappreciated as an arena rock band that churned out reliable pop singles, to being completely overrated as some sort of 21st century rock gods. I'd rather see Coldplay, too.
Foo Fighters vs. Coldplay is an interesting comparison. I think Coldplay's best (worst) albums are better (worse) than Foo Fighters' best (worst) albums. Personally, I'd rather see the Foo Fighters given each band's typical setlist.

Been to Roskilde, loved it. It's a gigantic sprawl of a festival like nothing I had ever experienced before and easy to get lost. It's expensive as hell just because it's Denmark and everything is expensive there, but I'd highly recommend it. It's a good 30-45 minutes outside Copenhagen so I'd either stay there or prepare for some long days getting there and back (I did that and wish I had just bought one of those on-site campsites)
Right now I'm debating between Primavera > Travel > Sonar or Primavera > Travel > Roskilde. I'd love to hit up Melt! but I don't know if I can afford to be in Europe that long... time to start researching long lost relatives for places to stay.

if you need to stay in europe for longer and you have the time, you can always do a work stay in between fests if you just want to stay over there and not be super touristy. Stay at a house/business, work 5 hours a day, get meals and bed provided

This is a really interesting idea. Did some quick googling and there's people that will let you live with them if you just do some chores or stuff where you can live/work in a hostel for months at a time. Maybe I should just move there for a few months..

I had friends that did this and would love to do it if I had the chance.
You should definitely consider it, Roskilde is awesome and if you get to go to Melt, too, that could make a pretty unforgettable summer. All for the price of checking some drunk kids into a hostel.
