Did anyone stick around at her Day for Night DJ set? I left pretty quick since we couldn't see anything and it was just some ambient nature sounds when we got there. Right now I'm not that into the idea of staring at some plants for four hours, but if others ended up enjoyed her Day for Night set I might go check this out. Maybe it will be different?
Edit: She is giving a talk on Wednesday as part of Sonar+D though. I'll definitely be at that.
Yeah, I was there for the whole DfN DJ set. I really like Bjork, but didn't enjoy that set too much. If there is another show happening at the same time, I'd catch that.

Thanks, it seemed like that was the general consensus at Day for Night. This is the only thing going on that night at Sonar and it's a separate ticketed event (similar to the VIP pre-party thing at Day for Night). I'll probably find something else to do that night.
There are usually some fantastic shows/parties in Barcelona during sonar. You should have no trouble finding something great. Most of them will be listed on Resident Advisor.
Lots of conflicts but that's what I expected with such an awesome lineup.
Edit: DJ Shadow > Jon Hopkins > Moderat > Jacques Greene > Soulwax all on one stage Friday night is fucking incredible. Moderat and Jacques Greene conflicting with Nicolas Jaar AND Jlin is not.
I would have to choose Moderat and Greene for sure. You'll get plenty of chances to see Jaar.
Edit: I know Sunday is already busy enough but that Nosaj Thing deal is a cool show.

Yeah luckily I have multiple opportunities to see both Moderat and Jaar (between Field Day, Roskilde, and Pitchfork), so it can kind of be a game time decision. Do both change up their live shows or would I pretty much be getting the same set?
Another great lineup from Le Guess Who? festival. This fest is definitely on my bucket list.
I'm in the beginning stages of working out a European trip for next year with this festival as the center piece. Doing research I saw this and just spit coffee everywhere.
The Black Power Tarot by King Khan & Michael Eaton Under supervision of spiritual guru Alejandro Jodorowsky, King Khan and Game of Thrones-designer Michael Eaton created ‘The Black Power Tarot’: 22 Tarot cards displaying prominent African American personalities. During Le Guess Who?, these cards will be exhibited on maximum scale. Additionally, King Khan reads Tarot cards for festival visitors and screens ‘The Invaders’: a documentary about the rise of the Memphis Black Power Group in 1967, and the film that sparked Khan’s idea for ‘The Black Power Tarot’.
I never knew I needed this to be a thing till now.

That sounds really intriguing!
Not this year, but it is very possible that I will be attending this festival next year, as I might be moving to Europe.

Le Guess Who has an amazing reputation, partially because of the majority of shows happening in one brand new venue with multiple rooms (TivoliVredenburg). Utrecht is a really fun city as well.

So I just attended Best Kept Secret Festival in The Netherlands, a three day niche festival capped at 25,000 people with the following lineup:
Festival was chill AF. The main stage is next to a lake, with a sandy beach where you'd ordinarily have grass in front of the stage. The campsite is bordering the same lake as well, so I was able to snag a spot close to the water featuring views of the festival area. The main stage curfew was at midnight, but there was a late night schedule that went on until 4am on Friday and Saturday for the smaller tents.
The crowd was relatively older in age, meaning, not predominantly 18 to 25 year olds. People were mostly chill with no real douchebaggery. Expect for the fact that chatting during sets was a common occurrence. Luckily you could mostly avoid this by showing up to sets early and up front, or by simply asking people to keep it down and/or cut it out. Food was pricey but excellent in quality, and there was no rain whatsoever all weekend.
Undercard was rather weak compared to previous years and I missed a few sets that I was told kicked ass (such as King Gizzard and Thurston Moore). Non-headliner highlights were Millionaire (the Belgian answer to QOTSA), Ry X, Arab Strap, and James Blake. I was in the pit for Run The Jewels; their very first headlining show ever. The pit was fun, not sure how well it was received throughout the whole crowd, but El-P and Killer Mike killed it once again.
That said, myself and the vast majority of the crowd bought tickets for the two mega-headliners whom both delivered five star performances in their own way (and for which I got to stand within the first ten rows). This was my 4th time seeing Arcade Fire and the best out of them all. Both the band and the crowd fed off on each other's enthusiasm, to the point that the band even returned to play Intervention as an unplanned encore.
And whereas Arcade Fire looked outward, Radiohead looked inward with a very subdued setlist that on paper would appear totally inappropriate for a festival. Luckily it totally went off in this context: the crowd managed to be completely silent when needed (such as for Daydreaming and Exit Music) and was completely engaged with the show by swaying and singing along when appropriate. While I personally preferred the setlists of other shows I had seen from them in the past (such as Osheaga), this was the best performance I have seen from them yet (also my 4th time). Fucking amazing.
TL, DR: BKS is an excellent choice for Americans looking for a European camping festival experience.

That's actually really good to hear. I'm seeing Arab Strap in a few weeks and nobody really is talking about them playing again. I just assumed I'd see a few songs and leave it be.
Great review. I'm more of a city festival kinda guy these days but I'm not opposed to camping again. I'll put this on my list.

Cool man. I'm also more of a city festival person myself, but the campsite worked out really well. Free showers, no speaker systems of sound from other campgoers (though you could hear the noise from the festival across the lake until 4am), no idiocy with underage drinkers.
For what it's worth, this video from Arcade Fire's twitter feed was filmed at BKS.
Seems like a very Berlin-heavy lineup, mainly only know the Tresor people, DJ Stingray, DJ Deep and FJAAK thanks to the fine people on this board, but looks sick overall.
Dekmantel looks sick, but good god damn, they couldn't have picked a worse lineup presentation on the site. the purple white green squares with think black lettering.
