Both had somewhat disappointing shows, and both had controversial crowds. What's worse, actively booing a headliner, or having a heart filled with cold indifference?
I didnt hear booing really, just the usual gay fish jokes and scolding him to shut up ad just play music and stop ranting. I feel these were the same people cheering after Jack Whites rants the very next night, tho i didnt follow them around all weekend to confirm this.

Booing, jeering, heckling. All the same in my book.
Obviously, but for the record, I don't believe for one minute that the crowd was predominately booing him, nor do I think the Coachella crowd was predominately indifferent to Outkast, but those are the prevailing opinions and I was wondering which people think is worse.

There was totally some booing. I think you were further up than me. From where I was, there seemed to be a pretty stark divide between two sections of the crowd.

no matter who was worse, its obvious these rappers and their gangster attitudes and the crowds they attract have ruined both festivals forever.*
* - since we are all super sensitive right now, i'll go against my standard procedure and point out this is clearly a joke

i was way up front for the first, then in the back for the last. 2 totally different vibes for sure, but the latter didn't really bother me, not much could have bothered me at that point.

I was at both shows and thankfully didn't encounter either booing or people standing around bored, but clearly booing/heckling an artist is 500x worse.
everyone I could see seemed into it and I heard no booing. The constant interruptions definitely took away from the set but still can't see how anyone got butthurt over anything he said.
Funny how the "good vibez" people are okay with homophobic jokes and go to a show with the intention of heckling.

The booing, IMO. Being disappointed is one thing. Going in to take away from a show is dumb. I don't get hecklers. It would take a whole lot from an artist to get me to actively boo a show I chose to go to.

I honestly didn't hear anyone booing Kanye, so I can't justify commenting on this thread. My group watched it from the VIP hill, and while some people left throughout the show, I heard absolutely zero booing, either from the crowd down below or the crowd on the hill. And trust me, I was listening because I was curious to see how the crowd would react. I didn't realize there was any booing until I got back to Ohio last night and looked on inforoo. I did see the usual amount of anti-Kanye graffiti on the farm.
I feel fortunate to have been far from anyone booing/jeering Kanye, but the fact that it happened is so shitty. Guess we all have to show up and boo the headliners we don't like now? I'll see you guys in the pit for Phish next year for the boo party.

I heard zero booing or heckling and from my vantage point, the front 1/3 of the crowd was very much into it. That being said, I think people who came specifically to heckle need to get a life, those who boo'ed should have just kept their mouths shut and let their feet do the talking

I was never able to hear any booing, thankfully. Kanye kept telling those of us up front that he loved us; it sucks that some people apparently chose to ruin the show for those around them cause I had the time of my life.
I still don't know what booing people are talking about. Up front near the rail EVERYONE was rocking for the entire show. Watching some of my videos.... EVERYBODY was rocking out. The boos must have been coming from way the hell in the back.

I moved to the VIP hill after I couldn't see in the crowd. The front half of Kanye was going crazy. Especially during Touch the Sky. It's really sad that a few thousand negative people can have such a dramatic impact on tens of thousands of others.
I have no idea why anybody would go to a show/set to boo anybody? I enjoyed a positively awesome game of ring toss at a friends RV during the Kanye set. The set made for pretty good indistinguishable background music for me. We tried to make out the rant(s) from the top of the RV inserting what we imagined he was saying....it was fun. So we got our enjoyment out of the show and did not ruin it for people who actually wanted to hear him...win/win in my book.
I was towards the back as I am for most headliners and heard minimal booing but an absurd amount of heckling. But that's not what the thread is about. I think the crowd for Kanye is worse. Treating an artist that way- whether you like/appreciate him or not- is in no way acceptable. I am continuously ashamed by the actions of Bonnaroo attendees in this regard. My group did what SilentEyedStorm said- let out feet to do the talking. We hated the set. We left after a half hour and went and waited for Disclosure.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I didn't hear booing either. I just heard about it through other people attending. I did see a ton of Fuck Kanye shirts and gear, however. None of those people ruined my vibes. I even got a few chuckles out of some of them. Is it just a rumor?
Also, I heard a ton of people ON HERE talking shit about Flaming Lips, Cake, and Jack White. These are some of the SAME PEOPLE (*AHEM*) that are defending Kanye and hating on the haters so emphatically right here and on Yeezus Saves thread. I haven't said anything about it until now, and guess what? I thoroughly enjoyed Flaming Lips, Cake, AND Jack White. So you know what? The only the people who can't just enjoy what they like and stop trying to defend the holy Kanye or whatever it is they were so offended about need to step it up, and live your life. It's getting to be a little sad folks.

Kanye's rants were not only longer than Jack's but Kanye's rants and random stops in the music took away from the flow to the show for me. Jack's rants I felt had momentum with the show at the time and in some cases added to the performance.

It's not really about disliking an artist or their set but more about the reasons behind it. Context matters here. If some people are talking shit about Flaming Lips or Cake or Jack White then their reasoning behind their opinions is important. There are legitimate complaints and bullshit complaints for every show.
