That way, if they look up your butt and say, "Hey, what's that?" You can say, "That must be my shoe. I've been looking for it everywhere!" Then they'll say, "Oh, OK. Have a good Bonnaroo."

you all are way too paranoid if you think the cops need this message board to help them find goods at bonnaroo. it must be really tough for them to find since so few people bring in illegal stuff

It's easy for law enforcement; some people just up and tell the cops where the stash is.

If you guys want to come to a festival and bring anything you want, come up to Pennsylvania to a Jibberjazz festival. They have some security but they smoke with you and all that stuff. The security is there to look for gate crashers and to stop fights, if that happens. Someone came up to me with an array of stash and I tried somethings that I have never done before. I was talking with these recent high school grads and they were amused that I had never dropped acid until this festival. It was so much smalled then Bonnaroo and no police at all. And for the most part music was not the focus at this festival. While some bands were playing I was one of 20 people at the stage. It was crowded for Ozric Tentacles.
Well obviously they knew already. I just warned the rest of InfoRoo to not try what I did. The jigs up, people.
If that is your license plate in your picture I'm surprised you weren't pulled over and strip searched on the highway.
Yep it's my old one.. state changed tags for 2014 year (but that one is on the front). I certainly worried about that at first but the more people said I shouldn't, the more I wanted to keep it. I just resent the idea of conforming out of fear of being stereotyped. So I take the chance, its possible it played a factor in my debacle this year but who knows.
Oh and if you can't tell, it says "Sweet Home Bonaroo". I thought that was neat.
My friend got his letter today. $914 and due by court date of Aug 29. All this for less than ten grams of schedule 6...and I'm guessing it's his last trip to Roo. While he acknowledges that his 8 grams of corn was illegal in TN, he's rather shiatty about the amount of the ticket, considering all the money he spends every year in Manchester (he's been to every Roo and even Itchycoo!). Yes, yes, it's better than jail, but $900? We're both wondering if the fine is the same no matter what or how much you got caught with. Anyone else get a letter and want to share? I remember my first Roo, eating corn right beside my car, talking to the mounties. They didn't care, they told me, because what I was doing was harmless and they were there to keep people safe, or help them get to safety. How the festival has changed since 2003.

It's my understanding that the mounties aren't actual police officers, just there for security/safety.
^^^ that makes sense-the mounties have always been super friendly, but i've heard nothing but horrible things about the actual police. My 2012 camp neighbors had their empty glass confiscated while they were sitting under a tree next to the other tent, while they were performing no action with said glass. Cop came with a Mag-Lite, banged my neighbor on the shoulder, and took his empty glass. Mounties, on the other hand, are some of my favorite folks to talk to while I'm on site.
Sad panda indeed. I came close enough to getting involved with that citation that now my husband, who would never "forbid" my attending Roo, is basically forbidding my attendance in the future. I am now the saddest of the sad pandas.

Was your friend busted coming in or after getting in to the fest? Was it mounties that busted him? I know that they are not technically "police" but this post confused me as to where he received his citation.

The festival has changed a whole lot. Where I used to walk with no caution, I now proceed with an over abundance of caution. It would be nice to take advantage of roo like my own private Amsterdam, but those days are long gone. I am older and I guess naturally more cautious, even if I were 25 now I would not act like I did at bonnaroo in 2004!

I could have written it more clearly . We were entering, and it was a very, um, zealous cop (not mountie) who tore the car apart. I only mentioned the mounties because I remember them from all the Roos I've been to and have never had one issue with them. The irony is that the cop who gave my friend (and almost me!) a citation was one of the same cops who helped me when my friend Rick had a heart attack at camp in 2012. It was amazing to watch a guy who had been so helpful and kind to me refer himself to a 'sniffing dog' and turn into basically a complete arsehole. I guess he doesn't know what really happens inside the festie gates-8 grams of corn? C'mon. You could have done better than that....(still completely accepting that my friend is at fault and broke the law).

You're right about that! I was so far gone in 2003 that I went home with sun poisoning and was purple/red/black and blistered for weeks. Never, ever again.
Wow, pastero, that is big. I am sure that sucks. Maybe because I do not do any of this stuff is why I do not understand. Maybe you were lulled into a false sense of security by the past years? Not singling you out or trying to add insult to injury, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would risk trying to bring anything in?
Live and learn, hope you get past this with minimal disruption to your life.
but for the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would risk trying to bring anything in
profit
Hmmm, didn't think of that...I assume you are making a guess, Jimmy. If that is in fact the case, I do not feel bad for anybody that gets caught. Nor do I wish they get caught. To me that is the cost of doing business. The rewards outweigh the risk? I suppose.

This guy brought in a quarter pound of the green kind of thing, individually bagged - by the gram, it sounded like. I put that on a different level than what most people bring in.
Note my lack of flowing black robes and tiny wooden hammer in regards to anyone doing anything.
Received my citation today for the QP of green, 15 grams of fungus
$3,328
In MN, just holding that much would get you up to five years on a felony and $10,000 fine. That is not counting the other 'stuff', or intent to distribute, or bringing it across state lines. Probably only serve a few years with probation on the rest, meaning no leaving the state.
Then they would test your blood to see if your were DUI.
Pay it and smile. This is why there are no drvgs at Bonnaroo.

Thanks for the clarification. The situation still sucks.

If you bring stuff to sell, you should know what you were getting yourself into. But as far as personal amounts.. I guess you have to decide if you're more worried about buying something bad from a stranger, or more worried about getting caught coming in. If alcohol is your.. intoxicant of choice, then things are simple. If you prefer something else, there is no guarantee you'll find what you are looking for, or what you find is what they say it is and not something that'll make you sick or just have a bad time.
