1. U2 (2009-2011) 2. Roger Waters (10-13) 3. AC/DC (08-10) 4. Bruce Springsteen (12-13) 5. Cirque du Soleil/Michael Jackson (11-13) 6. Madonna (2012) 7. Bon Jovi (2013) 8. Eagles (08-11) 9. Beyonce (13-14) 10. Lady Gaga (09-11)
Someone must be willing to travel to see her and Gaga... I think her age demographic would be very interested in music festivals, too. She'd be a great modern fit for Bonnaroo, imo. Although, I would be happy with Gaga, too. No way would Gaga ever not be a headliner.

I'm going to post this every single time someone says Beyonce wouldn't be a headliner.
I would like to turn this friendly debate to the differences between glastonbury and bonnaroo. I think we all agree that not all fests are created equal.
With all due respect, glastonbury is on a totally different level than bonnaroo. Year in and year out. The glastonbury lineup beats the bonnaroo lineup (in my opinion) by almost any measure almost every year.
Glastonbury also runs runs opposed headliners.
Its also more in the coachella price range than the bonnaroo price range.
They em sell way more tickets to glastonbury and have more money to spend on the talent.
I am not saying Beyoncé couldn't be a headliner at bonnaroo. I am just saying it might not go over as well at bonnaroo as it did that year at glastonbury with that stellar lineup, that is all.

Whatever, I'm not gonna argue this one any further. I would love to be proven wrong, I would love to see Beyonce at Bonnaroo. But based on past bookings, I just don't think it would happen. I hope everyone on the other side of this debate is right.
The point is that if say Coachella or Lolla booked Beyoncé there would not be a bunch turd lickers saying that she might not be accepted by the Coach or Lolla crowds bc she would be. Bonnaroo fans would be only group of scrubs to even bring up that she might not be accepted by some of the fans. So this whole we accept and love everyone and we are the most positive people in the world is just a fraud
Look, it's not just about 'accept and love'. It's about money. Let's say Beyonce costs $1m to book -- a rough estimate, but that's not crazy. Will she bring in $1m in ticket sales? Will enough people look at a ticket with Beyonce and, let's say, Foo Fighters and Phish on it, and say, that's a 4-day festival I wanna go to? Or does it make more sense to spend that million on Prince or Springsteen or somebody?
You act like it's about 'love and acceptance', which is a neat topic, more so as it pertains to Kanye's reception, but not really as relevant when you're booking the top artist for a multi-million-dollar event. I worry about the same topic, and wouldn't want to deal with hearing a bunch or racist and sexist bullshit all weekend about an artist I really love.
Let's phrase this another way. Taylor Swift is another pop star who makes great music that people love. Why aren't people arguing we should book her for Bonnaroo? Is it maybe the fact that you can't count on Taylor Swift fans to spend $280 on a ticket to drive across the country for a 4-day festival that mostly features rock and hip hop acts? Beyonce sits somewhere between Kanye and Taylor here. It's a fit that could work, but harder to argue for at a $1m, #1 spot. Not something I would bet on if it was my $1m. Something I would go to with my $280, sure, but not something I'd put a million on. Not if I could put Bruce Springsteen or Prince alongside the Foo Fighters and Phish. It's a little staid, sure, but that's why I'd fill slots 4-6 with Lady Gaga, Drake, and a hot EDM act that isn't Skrillex.
That, in a nutshell, is why Beyonce might not work. When you're million-dollar headliner, not every venue makes sense. Looking at Bonnaroo's history -- and more importantly, its audience -- Beyonce would be a bigger risk at #1 than I expect the organizers would ever take.
You sound dumb as sack of door knobs. Beyoncé would be one of the biggest acts Roo has ever pulled. Could she sale over $1M worth of tickets by herself? Yes, and within the first hour easily. The fact you bring Taylor Swift into this proves you are of your element. She is not a critically acclaimed artist. She sells records and has won awards, but she has never been someone who has put out classic albums that were agreed upon by nearly every major music outlet.
Also, you say Beyoncé is a risk billed #1 that organizers would never take? This is my point exactly. Only bonnaroo fans would say some dumb hot horse shit like the pile that just came out of your mouth. She is one of the biggest and most talented artist in the world. Bonnaroo should beg her every year to play bc she's the furtherest thing from a risk. Every other festival would brag and shout from the mountain top that they pulled Beyoncé, but not bonnaroo fans. The question if it's the right move to make and call it a risk for her to play bc she might not be accepted or sell the amount of tickets someone else would sell. Please go slam your hands in a car door so you can't type anymore. We would all be better for it
75 > 70, all three of Swift's records are critically acclaimed
But let's not distract from my main point, which is you're an angry sack of shit. Sorry about whatever's going wrong in your life that you have to make idle threats at strangers on the internet

I didn't make an idle threat. Swift records are acclaimed like rollingstone magazine acclaimed. She is not taken seriously in most circles. I just think it is crazy to say Beyoncé would be a risk. That just makes no sense what so ever. Just be better at not spewing nonsense. Beyoncé a risk haha. I can't get over that one. Not only that she is a risk, but she is such a risk that there is no way they would book her. There is no way in the world that they would be willing to take the risk and book Beyoncé. That is truly one of the most classic statements ever posted on here
Also, the fact that you used the word bro explains everything we need to know about you

I'm sorry but that risk thing caught me off guard and I had to respond that way bc bonnaroo is just the only group of people who would think like that. Also, I never said I loved and accepted everyone. I was commenting on how bonnaroo fans claim they do but really don't. I try my best to give everyone a chance but fake people I can't do. And a lot of what has gone on the past week is just fake bonnaroo fans acting dumb

I don't think we was dissing Bey though, just doesn't realize how big she is. Like people that think Drake wouldn't be a headliner if he played.
Beyoncé is just as affordable as any other headliner. We all know AC eats money for breakfast. I would too if I owned bonnaroo. And then I would book the queen B.
1. U2 (2009-2011) 2. Roger Waters (10-13) 3. AC/DC (08-10) 4. Bruce Springsteen (12-13) 5. Cirque du Soleil/Michael Jackson (11-13) 6. Madonna (2012) 7. Bon Jovi (2013) 8. Eagles (08-11) 9. Beyonce (13-14) 10. Lady Gaga (09-11)

Look at this list closer. How many have played roo? 1. Like I said before some things are just too big for roo. if they did book her it would be a huge get and it would be wildly successful. Of course there would be haters, but there always are.

Can we get Cirque du Soleil/Michael Jackson since it was higher on the list than Beyonce?
If Sade played roo I would make love to every one of you.
Well fuck. I love Sade, but now the thought of her beauty on a music stage is all conflated with an image of sang giving me the big waffle. How do you unread something?
Fine, I can take a hint. I'll stop talking about Babs.
Speaking of fine, let's talk about Babs.
So, I'm not alone? I know there are a few of us Streisand lovers in this world, but we're dwindling away. Show tunes and standards are definitely a thing of the past, mostly.
Edit* you're trolling me! I knew it That's cool. Everyone is allowed to make fun of my love for Barbra. I love Liza too!
Just a disclaimer - I am totally obsessed with Fiona Apple. As much as I'd love to see her on the Farm, I wonder if she'd ever agree to perform at a big music festival again. Yes, there was Lilith, but it's been over a decade, and she's gotten a lot more particular about having good sound (usually means a theatre-style venue). She also got pissed at some weird corporate-sponsored show in Japan when people were talking over her set (not without reason).
Don't get me wrong - this could happen, not trying to be a downer. It would just take some thoughtful scheduling. I'm thinking a late night tent like Frank Ocean would be doable. Closing out Which is probably in the realm of possibility too.
Also, I love her, but the 6-7 year wait between albums is the worst. She surprised us with a short tour without an album a few months ago, so that was nice.

I actually think Fiona Apple is more realistic than Beyonce. Bonnaroo (and other festivals on its level) has a record of being able to pull in artists that don't tour that frequently -- it's all about making the right offer the right way.
I know I'm pretty conservative in my estimates of who Roo will/won't book or who fits where on the lineup or the schedule. I take a conservative approach, basing everything squarely off what the fest has done in the past. And honestly, the biggest single change in the past 5+ years as far as headliners go was the time they booked Tom Petty to play Sunday. Aside from that, there's the gradual introduction of rappers to the top of the lineup, but that happened over the course of years.
My basic point is that I don't see a logical progression from Springsteen to DMB to Eminem to Radiohead to Macca to Elton to Beyonce. I don't see a festival and an audience that doesn't value pop/R&B acts that highly suddenly opening up to a pop/R&B headliner, even if she's one of the best current acts period.
It's funny because CPK and I agree on the same basic points. We'd love to see Bey play, and we both think the Bonnaroo crowd is kinda whack and might not really appreciate her as a headliner. It baffles me that we agree so much and he stoops to personal attacks and nonsense arguments -- eg Taylor Swift doesn't have critical acclaim even though she does have critical acclaim, because all of the dozens of publications that like her (AV Club, Spin, LA Times, The Guardian, BBC Music, Entertainment Weekly, Village Voice etc) aren't legitimate critics, whatever that means.
But go ahead, tell me you hope I hit by a car on the way to the hospital to get diagnosed with cancer. I'm looking forward to it. O: )
