That's kinda how I felt. It was great and all but after last years I was hoping for some sing a long songs. If it hadn't been late night I think it may have been one of my favorite shows of the weekend, but since it was late night I was kind of expecting a bigger party.
I feel like there was a whole lot of blues/classic r n b/funk that could have been tapped into. It was an excellent display of musicianship all around, but I felt something was missing. Maybe my expectations were too high.
After last year's soul Superjam its easy to see how you could get your hopes up. I did the same thing with the recording. Great musicianship, just less je'nais ce pas? (Spelling)
I'd LOVE a Wayne Coyne superjam (preferably doing all classic psych rock, cause there's nobody more fit to do so.) BUT I'd be anxiously awaiting a dreaded appearance by Hannah Montana the entire time. So I'd love for them to do this but I'd need Wayne to send me a text personally promising that he wouldn't involve Miley in it in any way, shape, or form.
My wish would be for a Wynton Marsalis led Superjam. In addition to knowing everyone in the jazz world, he has played with a lot of main stream artist.

Wynton Marsalis, Trombone Shorty, Colin Stetson, and Ronell Johnson in the dream Brass Superjam

Josh Homme can conjure up some awesome musicians for a classic rock/metal super jam. Imagine the set being stuff like Ace Of Spades and Killing In the Name and Kashmir. Maybe bring in John Paul Jones to play bass for a couple songs or the whole set for that matter!
As other have said, Warren Haynes really needs to get one, he knows tons of musicians, I think it's time the other departing Allman Brother's guitartists get's a shot.
Also let Claypool curate another, he's been gone too long.
i agree he was unnecessary, but it is not like he took away from anything. He yelped once and disappeared like he was never there.
i like Ben, which is why it was great Elton brought him out. After JJ's Superjam, i was really expecting something special this year. trucks is great but i'd be lying if i said i wasnt a bit let down.

hate to say this but I was worried about the possibility of the trucks superjam being a let down. then i showed up, all those talented ass musicians walked on stage, and they opened with weak-ass Bound For Glory? tedeschi is like les claypool, she completely dominates any project she is a part of. In the case of Claypool that's great for me because he is awesome, but I just don't like Tedeschi's chosen genre. It's boring as hell, talent and technical ability don't matter. So I walked over to Mastodon and was happy.
Just my opinion, not trying to ruffle any feathers.
I agree that if you stuck this superjam in the bluegrass superjam slot it might have been generally better received. After midnight there is an expectation of a party.
Warren and Grace Potter superjam would be epcot. Maggot Brain closer as the sun is coming up.

I agree with all of these statements. It had a lot of potential, but was a pretty big let down. I waited for a good spot, but left after an hour...
I don't think it would happen, due to a greater creative input needed from all artists - and I'm not even sure I would attend - but nonetheless I think a comedy superjam would be interesting. Weird Al, Bo Burnham, Craig Robinson, Stephen Lynch...maybe Biz Markie too?

This one may be a few years away, but what about a 60s psych jam. Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, Kevin Parker, other members of Tame Impala, members of the Black Angels playing the Stooges, 13th Floor Elevators, the Soft Machine, Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Traffic, QSMS, maybe some Beatles, maybe some early Pink Floyd... Who else would be good for this? I feel like I'm forgetting some obvious ones.

You basically have to involve Wayne Coyne, if not have him curate the whole thing
AND I'd love this, but they really should just make it all of those great rock groups from the 60's/early 70's which would also let you play Hendrix (if they got a guitarist that is up for being compared to jimi) and The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin. So basically, if you got enough amazing artists involved, playing music from those legendary rock acts' catalogues, it has the potential to be the best show ever for someone who is a fan of classic rock.
Who wouldn't dig on seeing Grohl and Homme trot out a rotation of musicians to play classics from Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest, Motorhead, etc.?
