This one may be a few years away, but what about a 60s psych jam. Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, Kevin Parker, other members of Tame Impala, members of the Black Angels playing the Stooges, 13th Floor Elevators, the Soft Machine, Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Traffic, QSMS, maybe some Beatles, maybe some early Pink Floyd... Who else would be good for this? I feel like I'm forgetting some obvious ones.
You basically have to involve Wayne Coyne, if not have him curate the whole thing
AND I'd love this, but they really should just make it all of those great rock groups from the 60's/early 70's which would also let you play Hendrix (if they got a guitarist that is up for being compared to jimi) and The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin. So basically, if you got enough amazing artists involved, playing music from those legendary rock acts' catalogues, it has the potential to be the best show ever for someone who is a fan of classic rock.
Wayne can come, as long as he brings Steve Drozd with him. The aforementioned John Dwyer was the guy I was forgetting. While I would love a classic rock SJ, I was thinking of keeping this one a pure psychedelic freak out jam. So no Dylan (although he did have a huge influence on this period, his music itself is not inherently psychedelic) and maybe limit to only one or two Stones songs. Hendrix and early Zeppelin are of course acceptable. I'm thinking of trying to keep it as pre-1970 as possible, either San Francisco or British Underground material. Some other stuff that I didn't mention before could be the Byrds, Big Brother and the Holding Company, the Mothers of Invention, the Kinks, the Zombies, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Country Joe & the FIsh, the Dead. Also, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly would be a must play.

the point is that they have ALOT of options and no shortage of songs
That's kinda how I felt. It was great and all but after last years I was hoping for some sing a long songs. If it hadn't been late night I think it may have been one of my favorite shows of the weekend, but since it was late night I was kind of expecting a bigger party.
hate to say this but I was worried about the possibility of the trucks superjam being a let down. then i showed up, all those talented ass musicians walked on stage, and they opened with weak-ass Bound For Glory? tedeschi is like les claypool, she completely dominates any project she is a part of. In the case of Claypool that's great for me because he is awesome, but I just don't like Tedeschi's chosen genre. It's boring as hell, talent and technical ability don't matter. So I walked over to Mastodon and was happy.
Just my opinion, not trying to ruffle any feathers.
I agree that if you stuck this superjam in the bluegrass superjam slot it might have been generally better received. After midnight there is an expectation of a party.
Warren and Grace Potter superjam would be epcot. Maggot Brain closer as the sun is coming up.

Who wouldn't dig on seeing Grohl and Homme trot out a rotation of musicians to play classics from Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest, Motorhead, etc.?

I have seen him a few times the past few years and he is really awesome. He tours a lot so even if you dont see him on the farm definitely check him out
We need Gary Clark to curate because he's worked with everyone from Clapton to Dave Grohl (both of whom wouldn't be shocking to find on this years lineup) so if we got Gary Clark Jr. to curate and billed Dave Grohl as the drummer and Eric Clapton as special mystery guest... Who hopefully stays for basically the entire set... (like D'angelo was in '12) for a Blues superjam, that would have the potential to be the greatest, most epic superjam of all time
I guess now that I've gotten my wish of a blues guitarist leading the Superjam I should move on to something else...

But other than that one) obviously they've had big name blues artists play, but an entire super jam? Because THAT is what I want if they can get the roster I get for it (which roo always does)

Sad to hear, but not really surprising because I he is just about 90 now. Well, cross that name off the list... I guess I can settle for Clark, Clapton, and Mayer being the major guitarists...

Ok, then my statement still stands, we need a "Roo's Blues Superjam"
Ok, I'm just realizing that I suggested Gary Clark Jr. should HOST a super jam with Clapton and Dave Grohl joining him which seems veryyyyy backwards, haha. Grohl and Clapton are way to big to JOIN a superjam. I doubt Clapton will ever play in one but it is possible he could come on for a few songs, though unlikely, and Grohl is more likely to host a super jam and perhaps he would have Gar Clark Jr. join him.
So I guess I'm joining the following that pushes for the Grohl grunge superjam (though I'd love him to play a superjam of any genre

With the Flaming Lips releasing their version of Sgt. Peppers I could see them bringing Wayne in with a bunch of guests for psych/beatles themed songs.

They really need to give FlyLo the full Skrillex treatment; Solo set, Captain Murphy set, and Superjam. He has a huge amount of talent he could bring with him, not the least being Thundercat again.
Hell, if he hasn't blown up more by than, maybe it could be a Flying Lotus/Pretty Lights Superjam to get more recognition for the masses. PL could bring Lettuce on a whim, maybe Talib Kweli since both FlyLo and PL are fans?

I think the Superjam will be Marcus Mumford, Jim James, Elvis Costello, and company doing the new Bob Dylan CD they are putting out. They could play Dylan's greatest hits with guests too.
