Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I can't believe this starts Friday. Sooo much to do between now and then.
I honestly don't really have any prep work for Big Ears, which is a relief compared to everything involved with going to Roo.
This. Once childcare is taken care of, it's just a matter of driving downtown everyday rather than wherever I would have normally gone. Hometown festivals ftw!
Don't see how I can make Saturday happen. Youngest has a birthday party to go to that afternoon, and I found out my work trip to CT is officially scheduled for next month. The same month I will be in CA for 8 days. Figured if I want to stay married, I'd better check myself before I wreck myself. But still, sooooooo sad. I would love to see you guys.

Got to keep those priorities straight. The husband and kids should always win out over a bunch of awkward internet shut-ins.

That said, totally understandable, Steph. Now you know. We will start working on snowman, too.

You're lucky we're going on a trip to LA in a few weeks, or I'd be PISSED.
Pro tip - haven't tried this myself yet as this'll be my first trip to Knoxville, but I'm in the process of scouting out worthwhile walkable food options now (especially stuff I can potentially grab quickly between shows!) and noticed that Tomato Head has an option for online ordering. I just tried and seems to work on my iPhone as well, just a little weird to pinch and swipe through menus. Order ahead, swoop in, pick up and go...
Any other Knoxville locals/Big Ears veterans have food/drink recommendations other than what's been discussed in the thread so far?
I have never tried the online ordering, but Tomato Head is definitely worth a stop. For most people I know, it's one of their go to recommendations for anyone who asks for a place that's specific to Knoxville and they're downtown. If you're not coming to Brunch (though you really should), Stock and Barrel is a nice option if you want to sit down for a meal. The ladyfriend and I have standing plans to try out Pete's Coffee Shop for breakfast at some point. Neither of us have been but we have heard nothing but good things about it. Soccer Taco isn't mindblowing or anything, but it serves the purpose of being quick and relatively cheap.
As far as drinks go, Suttree's has emerged as my downtown favorite just because they have a better beer menu. Casual Pint is also good for beer as well. They also sell beer if you are looking for something to take back to the hotel. If you're more about liquor, Clancy's is nice and right near the Tennessee. I haven't been but abrakapokus swears by the Peter Kern Speakeasy Library for having good drinks and an interesting atmosphere.
Pete's is pretty good, it's cheap and cafe food, nothing spectacular. Trio has good salads. Stock and Barrel for burgers. Downtown Grill and Brewery can be ordered to go and their food is always delish. Not Watson's burgers and brunch menu should be looked at. Coco Moon has a lovely atmosphere but the food is bland. For just a small walk you can try Knox Mason, that place is amazing but pricey. Nama is sushi and right on Gay Street. Bars would be Sutrees, Preservation Pub, and The Speakeasy at The Oliver Hotel.

Fine. Awkward internet shut-ins and obnoxious drunks. If you catch us on the right day, some of us fit in both categories!
not entirely sure when I was given this title, but I will accept. and NotMitchelBade is the most high-functioning alcoholic you'll ever meet. so he accepts too.
Heads up: Check those schedules. Stuff is being shuffled around. Some times, some venues. On first look: Took care of my Rival Consoles/Ryley Walker conflict and I'm seeing Jamie XX now. On the bad side: AWVFTS moved to KAM.
Overall I think it helped me more than it hurt, and I was wondering when they might get around to giving times/dates for the films.
New Final Draft
Friday: The Bad Plus >> Kronos with Wu Man >> Demdike Stare >> Jamie xx (half hour)
Saturday: Wu Man >> SQÜRL Live Score >> AWVFTS >> Jozef Van Wissem (half hour) >> Nels Cline & Norton Wisdom >> Holly Herndon >> Laurie Anderson & Kronos >> Max Richter >> Hildur Guðnadóttir (half hour) >> Grouper >> Harold Budd & Keith Lowe >> Tyondai Braxton
Sunday: Bing & Ruth >> Kronos & Tanya Tagaq >> Kronos & Bryce Dessner >> Terry Riley/Gyan Riley/Tracy Silverman >> Bill Frisell >> Perfume Genius >> Max Richter >> Kronos with Nels Cline
Now I can see Bing & Ruth, Nels Cline & Norton Wisdom, Holly Herndon, and some of Hildur Guðnadóttir's set.
I was going to catch most of Jozef Van Wissem's set before the changes -- now I can see a half hour if I rush (I will).. Not cool, Cappuccino...
fyi guys. no one worry, went shopping today. got some solid brunch outfit options.
That does relieve me of a ton of stress. I was really stressing about it.
Also, don't forget, kids. You have to exchange your ticket for a wristband at check-in before your weekend can really begin so allot time for that. Last year, it was on the side of the Tennessee Theatre, and there was a little bit of a line when I went through.
I'm betting we get that check-in stuff today or tomorrow. I'm hoping for the box office again. That dude was such a sweetheart. He let me pick out my seat to Steve Reich.

How do I trade my tickets for my festival wristband? All Big Ears tickets must be exchanged for a festival wristband before you attend your first show. This wristband will serve as your proof of entry at all venues and shows throughout the weekend. Big Ears Check-In will be located at 530 Gay St. in the Farragut Building (on the corner of Gay St. and Clinch Ave.). Check in hours are:

For those that don't get or read the newsletter, they advertised Uber being available. For people who haven't used it before, use bigears15 when you sign up and you'll get $20 off your first ride.
How big is the KMA hall? I never even went there last year, so I have no real mental picture of it. Is getting in to see WVFTS going to be a potential problem?

It's not a big auditorium. I am terrible at estimating people but I would put it at a few hundred. I don't think is going to be crazy packed like does but it's going to be tight.
Edit: Google tells me it's the main hall and not the auditorium. Their website puts it at 350 for standing receptions (which is what I assume the show will be) and 220 for seated dinners.
