AWVFTS has the most adds (121) on the app for any show at the KMA (including Terry Riley). I'm going to head over there right after the SQÜRL set to try for a decent seat. The KMA was my least favorite venue last year so I understand the sodium.

I'm just glad I'm going to Loscil before. I can gauge how fast it's filling up and just head to the front.
I had never used Uber till last year in Chicago. I still don't use it in Richmond. I'll be honest, I'm too afraid to. If I was driving back and forth from the fest everyday, I'd totally use it though.

Or it's not in the city they are in. Knoxville just got it in late August.
it's almost as cheap as parking anywhere here (because it's like a million fucking dollars to park everywhere), and often I'll be drinking anyway when I go somewhere that requires parking payments, so I use it all the time. I think the minneapolis cabs are wayyyy more sketch than any uber driver I've ever encountered.

This is the map of downtown parking garages. The ones in black are free after 6pm on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. If I remember correctly, this held true during Big Ears last year even though it's a "special event".
Edit: The garages I use the most are the one behind the Regal movie theater, the one on Market Square (it fills up early usually) and the one right above the C in Clinch Ave.
I haven't, I drive myself everywhere. I would use that coupon but I don't think I'm going anywhere far enough to drive. I'm planning on the free bike rental to get to the venues.

Oh yeah. During my research for my write-up, I find out the David Moore who plays piano (and composes) in Bing & Ruth is the same David Moore who plays keys in Langhorne Slim & The Law. Color me surprised.
Big Ears friends and fans, we’re very sad to report that Harold Budd will no longer be able to join us at this year’s festival, due to a fall a few days ago in which he broke several ribs. We will certainly miss him at the festival,
Boo. Get well soon, Harold. On a positive note:
In his absence, we welcome #?BigEarsKnox alumni Rachel Grimes - and her ensemble - back to Big Ears. They will perform on Friday evening at the Tennessee Theatre, prior to Kronos Quartet's Terry Riley show. In addition, guitarist Nels Cline will perform a special solo set on Saturday night at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
Yeah, this actually changes my schedule for the weekend a good deal. I'll get to see Bad Plus earlier and then Ryley Walker and then HIVE, which opens up Sunday for me (when I was originally seeing HIVE).

"While you’re out and about this weekend, be sure to stop by “In D, a digital performance of Terry Riley's In C”, an interactive digital cooperative game at Krutch Park from 8:00pm – 11:30pm every day of the festival. This crowd-sourced musical installation will use your smart phone to trigger parts of the score and projected visuals. Created by local digital media artist Andre Hayter and designer Michael Novia, with support from The Tombras Group, this free event is the perfect accompaniment to your ?#?BigEarsKnox? experience! It is appropriate for all ages and for anyone who can shake a smart phone. “In D” puts you into the experience of performing Riley's famous minimalist work and is a great way for everyone to get involved in the festival."
ugh. ya'll have fun. i talked to the wife and it's on next year's calendar. even if she doesn't like the lineup (she probably won't) I'll just drop her off at sunspot and leave her to her own devices.

Hey loves. I'll be in Knoxville tomorrow night for dinner with the fella and then postering. If any of y'all get in tomorrow night, let me know and we can grab a pre-fest drink!
