First year doing premier but just to be clear (rhyming, it's fun!) even the furthest spots are decently close to the entrance right? I'm not gonna be there till like 8ish most likely just want to make sure I'm not gonna be screwed by that
Yeah, even if you end up at the far opposite corner of the premier lot, it's still maybe a 10 min walk (depends on you) to the gates. I think by next year we will see Wed Premier tent camping sell out almost as fast as Premium RV. Not in the same amount of time, because of the huge difference in population, but it becomes more highly sought after each year, especially at that price.

How are the Roo peeps holding up? Any notable acts that stood out (for better or worse) that translate to Firefly? Live stream doesn't count...
PS pretty shocked I haven't seen anyone else taking the Glamping route on this thread. God bless that most of you are excited for Premier, noooooooooo thank you after last year. Although 2013 was pretty sweet since they had everyone real close to the main entrance.

Anything in particular you didn't like about premier last year? I was in south premier last FF and didn't encounter any issues.
Long shot but deciding to do this last minute. Anyone have an extra ticket or campsite for sale?
Lots of people selling on the Firefly Official boards as well as the Firefly reddit. You may be able to find a package deal with camping and tickets at a discount.
It looks like Stubhub just had a bunch of tickets pulled off though because there's no VIPs under 950 (they were sitting around $500 earlier) and no GAs under $290.

I know there are a couple of Sturgill and RTJ fans here. For his Bonnaroo set, Sturgill came out to "Run the Jewels." For some reason it makes me laugh, but I love it because on the surface it makes no sense.

Issues wouldn't be the right word. I think it was a combination of: - The extra night of camping really took a toll on us. Got there Wednesday and start drinking, plus all day Thursday since we didn't go in until 7. The first year we did Friday and Saturday night; second year Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday; third year Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It was just too much - I'm sure it's great for others though so don't let me bring you down. - It was still a hike to get to the entrance based on our camp location - There was a massive generator that came out of nowhere after we were setup that ran the entire time (very loud) - Close to the bathrooms so when they cleaned them we had to run for it (sat in the car with the AC blasting and charged the phones so there was a silver lining) - On the treeline so people were using that for more than just number 1 (nasty)...
The saving grace was that there was a truck that needed us to move our vehicle to get behind something so my friend plead with them and said we'll move temporarily but you have to let our friend (who was just coming for a day) drive all the way back here and park/camp next to us - which they did so that was pretty cool. Overall, good time just took a hell of a beating on our bodies. The main thing everyone looks at is proximity to the festival, but in my opinion I think I came back to camp all of once during last year and that was only on Thursday when there was a big chunk of downtime so to me distance isn't really that big of an issue. We've bounced around from General to Thursday Front-Row to Wednesday Premier, now that they opened up Glamping to four people we felt it was worth the extra $200 to have some comfort.
PS we actually wanted to be in South Premier last year, so for that I am jealous.
To each his (or her) own, rock on and enjoy yourselves!

That's great. Maybe RTJ will come out to Sturgill? hahaha

Just got back from Roo and I'm exhausted. As far as Roo artist playing Firefly. Here is what I saw and my thoughts.
RTJ killed it! Must go see them if you can. Energy was through the roof and they played a smaller tent. Killer Mike had his arm in a sling but still gave 100% while El-P kept the crowd going and was truly humble to those there to support them. No Zach De La Rocha or Travis Barker cameos but still fantastic performance.
Hozier was fantastic. i had seen his Coachella feed and thought he was good. It comes off so much better live. Crowd was in to it and it was a pre sunset set. Halfway through the set he did a cover of Problems by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea. Just a fun cover in the middle of the set. Obviously Work Song and Take me to Church were the highlights.
Spoon I caught on a live feed from VIP lounge. They sounded ok as I couldn't get the vibe by watching a live feed.
Awolnation was great from what I saw. Caught Hollow Moon and Not your fault before napping and waking up to Sail. Enjoyed the sound and will make sure to catch their whole set without the nap.
Tove Lo was great. Just a fun set where she wore jean shorts and a tank top with no shoes and sang and danced the set away. Great and fun songs from her cd and of course the hits. Not too happy about the schedule conflict as I would enjoy watching her set again. Totally flashed her tits during Talking Bodies!
Ryn Weaver was fantastic. She has such a great voice and also danced the night away. this was the first show I saw at Roo and will be glad to see her again!
7 hours of work left. I feel like I'm trying to escape from prison and I'm going to get caught before 4:30.
You and me both. Maybe Joyce Mitchell (lady who assisted the escaped inmates) can help us out.
Unfortunately it looks like we won't hit the goal of 400 pages before the fest begins.
That said I'll throw a couple of questions out there that are always fun debates. Where do you all stand on wearing band shirts the day of the show - AND - playing music from people you're going to see that day. Personally they're both taboo for me, no artist merch day of shows and definitely no tunes - not to say I really care if others do it.

I just don't care enough to have an opinion on it. I just don't buy many concert t-shirts in general. And as long as people aren't playing SOLELY the artist you are seeing that day I'm cool with it if its a few songs in a playlist. That's mostly an issue with only regular concerts and not fests.
On an unrelated note I saw you went to Catalpa in your fest history. I was also there. How good/terrible was that fest? Delivered on only about 50% of what they promised but it was so undersold it was very easy to get good spots at any show you wanted. Easy to see why that fest folded after 1 year though. I was upset they didn't have that fire EDM contraption they promised.

1) I don't really view wearing a band shirt of the band/artist you are going to see any different than a sports fan wearing their team's gear at a game or while watching on TV.
2) I think a Firefly playlist on shuffle is very appropriate music to play while hanging out at the campsite.

SOB looking like rain Thursday morning. Most of yall are premier so you'll be ok but if there is ONE period of time you don't want it to rain it's when you're putting up your campsite. Let's hope the weather people are wrong on that one.

Ohhhhhhh Catalpa, how quickly you were forgotten. So I was pretty lucky for that in the sense that it was one week after the first Firefly and there was a girl I know whose work was giving out passes. She really only wanted to go Sunday so she gave me the wristbands for Saturday. I can't say I kept too much of a pulse on what they promised and delivered on. For lack of a better term, I was very "whelmed" with it. It was cool that it was so empty, the weather certainly didn't help them out. I remember they had a Heineken Dome similar to year two of Firefly that was pretty cool. Frankly, I would have chosen Sunday over Saturday too but surely wasn't going to turn down the free tickets. I just remember so much rain that I had to keep taking my shoes off to poor the water out.
All of the fests and shows out on Randall's Island are sub-par in my opinion. Gov Ball included, it's just such a sweet location to draw in large crowds from all over. Other than that everything that I've ever been there for has just been a few stages/tents setup dueling it out with no other real attractions. Electric Zoo aside because that's just in another playing field of it's own, granted I only went in 2012/2013 for one day each year as that's all I could really take of it (I am a sucker for tents though).

Yeah, looks like good chances of thunderstorms between 7-10 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
Not coming until Friday, so not much of an issue for me. Def take advantage of the VIP viewing areas on Sunday when it's suppose to be 90+
Hey guys - can someone please explain why everyone is down on premiere camping? I am doing it this year and was really looking forward to it, but now I am concerned. Please let me know what your experiences were and how things have changed in regards to premiere camping locations. It seems so close to the main stage with its own entrance, so no idea how it could be bad! Thanks!

It was literally one person who just commented that premier wasn't for them due to the extra day/exhaustion it adds. Overall proximity you'll likely be happy with it as it's the closer than general except we enter at the opposite side of the fest by main stage where as they enter by lawn. The hub in general camping is better just because it accommodates many more people but I'm sure the one in premier will be fine.
I'm definitely happy there are some bands playing tomorrow even if they are just local so it's something to pass the time. The real wildcard I hope they throw in is opening the silent disco early for us tomorrow.

Early silent disco opening would be great. Have we heard anything about that really at all? Even like who is going to DJ?

No band shirts of the band you are seeing that day unless you just purchased it. I dont know why I am such a stickler on that one. I wore my Twenty One Pilots shirt at Roo but not on the day they played. I guess the closest I git was wearing my Rage against the Machine shirt to Run the Jewels on the off chance Zach was there.
As far as tunes I am ok with that. Like someone said a few tracks is good. You dont need to listen to their 2 albums and their live album before going to see them. A little is ok to get pumped up but no overkill.

Guilty - seriously don't let me bring you down. It was a great time to come in the day before the past two years and you'll have a great time, too! In short it just took a toll on my body - definitely need to pace myself muchhhhh more this year and add in some rest and downtime. I need to write a reminder to myself that it's a marathon not a sprint.

I am gonna be decked out in WTM shit on Friday because I can. I don't think it's taboo.
mardude what you say isn't wrong. The extra day does take a toll. It's just worth it for me to deal with for prime real estate the rest of the festival. At least weather is looking great tomorrow so should be minimal issues getting set up
