I'm taking a summer course and while most of my campsite is headed down at noon, my friend and I are heading down and parking via companion pass later in the day. Does anyone know where companion passes are supposed to go? There was no section for them in the directions on the website.
Last year they just parked with the day parking and no one even checked the passes...

My buddy did the same last year but I'm not sure if I would count on that this time around.

By companion pass do you mean an overnight parking pass?
I won't be getting in line til probably 1030/11ish on Wednesday - do you think with these new extended check-in hours, late night arrival won't be so bad or is that likely to be when it is busiest?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Looking at the overnight parking pass description I guess it is. All anyone's ever called it to me was a companion pass, I thought I remembered seeing the actual phrase "companion pass" on the website but I don't see it now.

Do any volunteers/security check your coolers when you arrive for parking? I know the festival has a strict no glass policy, but I would like to bring some Amaretto with me this year. We didn't have any thorough checks in 2013, but things may have changed since then.

From what I know about the overnight parking pass (my group has 2 of them as I'm going tomorrow to setup and they're coming late Thursday/early Friday) the parking is behind Dover Mall.

None last year. But check in was a clusterquack for general at 6AM.

It remains to be seen how they will handle the check-in this year. Last year was a mess. I read somewhere they aim to reduce the per vehicle check-in time from 30 seconds to 25 seconds, or something like that. So that doesn't leave a whole lot of time to be CSI-ing anything.

I guess the 2 hours sitting in line didn't count toward check in?

Nope haha that's only when you actually get to whoever is literally checking you into your site. I'm hoping the earlier check-in time for Wed (with more people in premier to boot) spreads everything out between Wed and Thurs so there isn't an extremely long line at any point. I'm sure the worst time will still be Thursday AM, when I'll be in line... in the rain.
Is there some kind of transportation from the overnight parking area to the premiere? I know last year premiere was cut off from the rest of the fest so it would be a very long walk for people with bags.

Yeah. There will be shuttle buses running from the overnight lot (behind the Dover Mall) to both Hubs. That's all new for this year.
The buses will run during all camping check-in hours, and on Monday until 1 pm.
Well if I didn't talk shit about Red Frog before now, that's about to change... I'm fucking pissed. Got an email at 1 AM last night saying that we're not going to be able to park our cars at our campsite in premium glamping. PREMIUM GLAMPING for f**ks sake! We'll be parked in a lot that's in the same area as the tents, but will still have to haul our shit to the glamping site. It explicitly stated in the original description that there would be room for your car at your camp site, and I'm already packed assuming I can just unload right there... ugh WTF Red Frog.

They advertised that you'd be able to park there? Wow that's pretty fucked - seems like you aren't really getting all you paid for then.

People should update as they get in and get set up, how the security is and whether things are organized at all, etc.
I second this. Unfortunately, I can't get to the camp grounds until tomorrow night due to work. I'd be interested in hearing if it is at all organized this year or a shitshow like usual.
My friends who had to pick up a parking pass from Will Call already arrived whereas my car is an hour away, but they said that someone told them that everyone has to be IN by midnight?!

Their site says pretty clearly that you can check in between 12 AM and 6 AM on Thursday for premier. I'd show up and if they tried to stop me I'd raise fucking hell. Although after what they pulled with premium glamping I wouldn't put anything past them.

Hope everyone has a good time! I hope to make it back to Firefly eventually. Although it's not the best run festival there are plenty of opportunities to have a great fucking time.
Firefly has already fucked us over in at least one way: premier lot is full and people who paid for premier are now being put across the highway. Including our group. Thanks Red Frog

Check in went pretty smoothly today. It was about an hour froms the time we pulled onto the property. We lucked out and didn't really have any traffic prior to turning off DuPont pkwy. Been pretty good so far, but unfortunately some idiot thinks they need to play music for everyone within 50 yds of them. Rediculous that someone thinks that everyone else wants to hear their music. I'm not trying to sleep or anything, just don't want to be forced to listen to someone's music to the point that we are having to scream at each other to carry on a conversation.
