Two years in a row I believe Firefly has had just as good of a lineup as Roo, if not better. The big difference has been Bonnaroo got Macca in 2013.
Also, is your name on here any relation to Redford University?
The core was solid last year but we only had 2 true headliners (still refuse to call JJ a headliner). And no, honestly it's just something easy I knew I wouldn't forget haha.
Yeah, Firefly has yet to bring a 3rd headliner really.
I gotcha. Our slogan for everything is RU, and were somewhat close to Firefly. I thought it may add up haha.
Wouldn't that be something if Firefly had a better headliner group then Roo

Two years in a row you've been wrong. At least last year, Firefly had the most boring, underwhelming lineup of any of the second-tier fests. It was worse than Hangout. There's a reason they partnered with GV.

The FF lineup for me fell off compared to 2013 so I don't disagree with this. Rory, how certain are you on McCartney? Can you ballpark a %?

I'm fairly certain, but I have no idea how to translate that to a percentage. The information comes to me second hand, but it's a generally reliable second hand. I can't vouch personally.
Iv seen Foo Fighters 4 times and last years Firefly was by far the best performance by them that I have witnessed. Other than that I sort of regretted attending. The problem with Firefly is no matter how good the performances are it's still Firefly. It's like if a fraternity put together a music festival. I hope it gets better. This year if they don't discontinue single day tickets I'll probably just show up one day.
yea I went last year on that Friday just for Portugal the Man, Arctic Monkeys and Foo. I had never been to FF before and when i got P the Man i had to leave after 2 songs bcuz everyone around me was hanging out screaming and talking the whole time i couldnt take it. No problems at AM set and got a good spot too and managed to get a lot closer before Foo's started. But right before the Foo set some douchy frat bro wouldnt let this kid (i think he was 19) go by him with his friends even though they were moving sideways and not trying to rush in front of people, he just kep talking shit to this kid and being a jerkoff then it got to the point that myself and my friend had to tell this dude leave the kid alone but by the time he did he lost his friends in the shuffle and just hung with us.
also Rory you're crazy Hangout undercard was more than solid last year, shit it shared about 20 acts with Roo and had some big acts they didnt with OutKast (whores or not doesnt matter), Modest Mouse, Pretty Lights and STS9

Damn. I have a group of friends that are pretty anti-bro personality-wise, but loved Firefly and are dead set on going again. I would've gone with them if I wasn't in Europe last summer and it seems I'm going with them this year since they're the only group of friends interested in going to a festival (that have the means to do so). Unless Roo can pull out all the stops on the undercard or if Firefly sucks across the board I'm gonna have a hard time convincing them otherwise.

Foo Fighters/Outkast/Beck/Pretty Lights (who has played Roo 2 out of the last 4 years)/Weezer (who is playing Roo this year)/Arctic Monkeys (who played Roo last year)/Cage the Elephant (who played Roo last year)/Portugal. the Man (who played Roo in 2013). Don't believe that is "boring"...but to each their own.
If you're right that means FF headliners are: Macca/The Killers/KoL. Not much argument that is a better group of headliners than what Roo is going to have.

Sharing 20 boring acts with another festival doesn't make them any less boring.

You just answered it. It was a bunch of acts that either were everywhere last year, or everywhere in previous years. Saying "how could that be boring, they played Bonnaroo!" is missing the point entirely.

not boring at all. but i forgot you dont like music anyway

Yeah, a band is only interesting if it plays select dates in the summer. I thought Alt-J was amazing at Roo, but they also played Coachella, Lolla, and many others in the summer of 2013...guess it wasn't as good as I thought.

Just because a band is good doesn't mean it's not a boring booking.
thats just about every festival but you knew that already.
Correct, which is why I've grown increasingly disdainful of most major fests. It's just a rotation of the same 40-50 acts, with some interesting things sprinkled in amongst the filler. I think Coachella does it the best, followed by Bonnaroo and ACL, and Lolla brings up the lead. Among the second-tier fests, they're really all the same - Hangout, Firefly, etc. - it's not much different. You might get Kings of Leon instead of the Black Keys, but is that really all that different? The best lineups these days are the specialty fests, stuff like FYF and Fun Fun Fun, or the genre based fests if you're into something specific.

i agree mostly. which makes me wonder even more so why you troll so hard most posts
Correction, I don't like boring, overexposed, see-them-at-any-festival acts. I like acts that are either a) awesome, b) relatively fresh, or c) both.
Hipster
I like what I like. I get bored easily. I love the Arctic Monkeys, but they've been everywhere lately. If a festival books them, it'll be boring to me.

This is how I feel. Luckily I haven't been going to festivals for more than a few years, so Florence and deadmau5 and Bassnectar are still new acts to me I haven't seen yet. But I've seen alt-J three or four times now, so they're a completely skippable act for me, even though I love them. They don't really add anything to festival lineup anymore.
To me a good act is a good act. I don't care about exclusivity. Iv seen MMJ 5 times now and would love to see them again because it's a fun experience. The Knife is a rare act and I went out of my way to see them last spring and I wasn't exactly wowed by the performance.

I haven't gone (yet). The group I'm going with did and seemed to enjoy it. I'm not into the whole Frat-party thing, but we'll see what the consensus is when all of the lineups are out in the open. Still rather go back to the farm.
As a college student and fraternity member, I agree that FF is a very young crowd. It's mostly college students that can't afford to travel to Roo/Lolla/Coachella. The motto I've gone with is we're paying so we're entitled to a good time, but if we start taking away from the experience of others who are paying the same amount as us. we're crossing the line. Both years I've gone I've had mid 30s neighbors, and both years our tents ended up playing drinking games together and sharing food. It's really just about exercising common courtesy as you would anywhere else.

that was an awesome set! When they played Day Man I lost it.
God these hangout douches are the worst. Just stay in your thread.
I love how frat bros are the devil walking on earth but all the festies on here that sit on here criticize all different types of people because of how they choose to live their lives are A-OK and great people!
every fest is filled with frat bro's, etc but in my 6 hours at FF last year i came across way too many but other than that story i shared no one bothers me so i dont really care. plenty of douches a hangout now too with mtv getting more involved now. also onoly myself and Moten posted in here from hangout thread

Fucking geeds just don't get it.
Festies classify frat bros as any non-blatantly hipster male between 18-23, I find it comical personally.
