Is anyone concerned from these new live videos about Jim's energy? My favorite part of an MMJ show is watching Jim and Carl trade solos back and forth and freak out. The passion really brings the songs to life. But in the KCRW video he seems to be stone faced going through motions of every song. Could be the back problems he's been having or just the comfortability he has playing the new songs. But I still gotta say it's a little dissapointing.
The setlist from their show last night looks pretty solid. Other than the lack of "Mahgeetah" and "Wonderful", I'm a fan. Especially because they played "I Will Sing You Songs"

Last night was my 8th time seeing them since becoming a fan five years ago. I would've liked to have heard Mahgeetah and I wish they had replaced Gideon with War Begun.
Oh god... This set list is pretty damn close to perfect (even though they ended up replacing At Dawn with Thin Line :/). Just throw OBH on at the end for good measure

I'm going to use this opportunity to brag that I'll be seeing 7 shows this year alone.
This show was 2 hours and 15 minutes. New songs sounded very polished. Very cool to see them in such a small venue. A+ show. I wouldn't expect anywhere near the same setlist each night on this tour as you can see from the first 2 shows so far.

Thanks! This version of Compound Fracture is everything that I wanted it to be. The extended opening and the heavy jamming out at the end. Loved it.

After listening to all the songs off the album multiple times, I have found I enjoy 8 out of 10 of the songs...it's impressive. I will more than likely be at the Charlottesville show in July.

The new album is really good Top to bottom. I bet if I went to rank songs again they would all be in different order. The Waterfall changes with the mood youre in at the time.
Id say Hillside Song is in the top half and I Cant Wait towards the bottom for the deluxe tracks as of now though.

Awesome setlist for their set today at Hangout.
I watched the hangout fest set live stream and I LOVE what they're doing with the new songs. And the old songs keep on evolving as well!

I truly believe that after they get the three best songs from this new album figured out and add them to their live catalog, they'll be ready to headline with their next album.
I'm really liking what I've heard of the new album live. Definitely my most anticipated set at Roo this year and lucky enough to see them again at Merriweather Post in July.
so I lucked out when they put the deluxe version back up and my copy should be here tomorrow Ive only listened to it all the way through once and liked it once I give the record a spin or two it'll be in my car nonstop for at least a week MMJ wins out this time and last time they went up against Primus and lost a little time this year doesn't hurt as bad though I did wanna catch like everything that overlaps I don't think Ill ever get an un conflicted show at roo
Athens and Knoxville were incredible. They're doing a lot of stuff right on this tour: switching up the set order, playing less songs but allowing more jamming, including rarities, and not playing OBH every night. Plus all the new songs are great live; especially Infancy, Thin Line, and Only Memories.
This past weekend has restored my interest in seeing them live. I may end up going to Roo now.
