Hey now, let's not throw Odesza into the deep shitty depths of the wook edm genre. I'll admit that I initially did based solely on their name and the festivals I they were playing but their new album is one of the best of the year.
And Bonobo w/ his live band is amazing.
And fuck Emancipator. Throw that shit down that deep shitty hole of wook edm.
Yeah, my recall to the WookiEDM was based more on the PLM/Big G nonsense.
Yes, because one artist remixing another means automatic acceptance of the underlying artist's catalog.
WookEDM isn't an actual genre, you know that right? It's a word Phi made up to describe EDM shows where the crowd is predominantly chicks with tatts, ppl wearing grassroots hats, chicks hooping, dudes with dredds, ect. Well guess who has been at every Odesza show Iv attended?
But the next time I go I'll be sure to start telling everyone they have to leave and the merch stand has to stop selling Odesza hat pins, because you guys happen to like the album. So those types of people clearly are not allowed to be into it as well.

I don't think Phi made that up, but whatever. And even though it may not be a specific genre of music, I think it can be used to lump certain acts together which seemingly appeal to a certain fanbase.
You are awfully touchy about other people's opinions of music. I fear this life may be too rough for you.
Bassnectar was fun, but I don't really dig arena shows. There were way too many bros and young kids there. Still had a good time, but the vibe just wasn't all that great.
I'll step forward in this "wookie EDM" hate conversation and say that I am a huge fan and I think Big Gigantic stole that show. Rusko was fabulous too. Enjoyed both of them over Bassnectar. He was good, but not amazing. Loved his visuals. Did you see that baby?? Paper Diamond was nothing special either. And where were you? I had a great time there. Didn't really have a "vibe" issue at all actually.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I had east floor tickets. Totally agree Big G stole it. I'm kind of over seeing Bassnectar. I like that he changes his visuals every so often and I definitely had fun; but I just feel like his show is stale.

I was east too! On the rail behind the VIP section. Too bad we didn't realize it! abrakapokus was there too, but she was west.

Darn, we should have totally organized a meet up! Are you going to STS9 next week by any chance?

I love the music, but I will never understand wearing a hat thats 25 pounds of pins, sweat, and fabric.
Haha same. Although I will cop to owning a Disco Biscuits Grassroot hat that I was given for free. It just sits on a shelf with a collection of whatever pins I also happen to get for free.

Awww damn! I had a great time and it was wonderful seeing bonzai even though way too short of a meeting. Next time I go to NYC it has got to be for a week! Speaking of hat pins, no one got either the knicks one or the one that flips upside down, did they?
I've seen all of the acts several times and Rusko put on the most impressive show I've seen of his. Big G was great as well. BN's show was great because it was MSG on my Birthday and I had a great spot but it wasn't my favorite. His waka set blew me away as did his NYE '14 show. I'm looking forward to seeing BN NYE in Nashville.
GJones and Tipper are opening for BN NYE and I might just be more excited about seeing the two of them.
Jealous, I was supposed to see Tipper for the first time at Hudson Project but then the last day got rained out about an hour and a half before his set.

I saw Cherub last night. It was an amazing dance party. Gibbz and Ghost Beach opened. I could see both at roo. Ghost beach maybe Thursday or smaller stage and Gibbz on a smaller stage.
Just saw Porter last night in CT. He was phenomenal. If he brought that act to 'roo next year it would be an enormous tent dance fest. AC Superfly need to make that happen.

I saw that show last week as well. I agree.
I think Ghost Beach could be a great low on the lineup act. Unfortunately I didn't catch all too much of Gibbz to really be a critic of them.

Contemplating going to his show on Sunday. But mostly because Lemaitre is opening and I'm a huge fan. Glad to hear Porter was good too. I saw him a few years back at Camp Bisco and wasn't much of a fan; but his sound was pretty different then.

Yeah both openers were really good.
Porter has such a new sound now though, his visuals are incredibly unique and his light show and stage production are pretty cool. I saw him at 'roo 2 years ago and again this past new years. He has taken huge leaps in progressing 'his' sound, and his show reflects the hard work he is putting in to develop himself as an artist. I recommend you go see him.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.
Wow that Decadence NYE lineup in Colorado is stacked. Jealous.
Uh...
Bassnectar, Paper Diamond, Disclosure (dj set), Zedd, Dj Mustard, Kaskade, Big Gigantic, Flux Pavilion.
I know you and I have significant differences on what "stacked" would mean in this scenario, but I'm genuinely interested in hearing how, to you, a lineup full of retread, big room "EDM" acts who play literally everywhere all the time is a big deal. I'm serious, I'm not trying to just put down your taste. To me, calling this lineup "stacked" would be the equivalent of raving about the food at an event which was catered jointly by TGI Friday's, Applebees, Ruby Tuesday, Chili's, Hardees, and KFC.
Edited for excessive use of the comma.

I posted that after Festive Owl leaked that deadmau5 was potentially playing. He came back a few minutes later saying it turned out to be fake poster. But regardless, you did leave out Gramatik, Griz, Armin Van Buren, Michael Menert, and a few others. So that's 11 acts out of 15 I enjoy playing over two days. To me 10 or more acts I like being on a bill = a stacked lineup.
