Watching the live stream of that free deadmau5 nyc show. Had tickets but couldn't make it and gave them away. The crowd looks like a bunch of people fresh out of work, exhausted, and dead inside haha

I guess I was wrong about Calvin's Harris's bigness, thanks all for correcting me.
I saw him at Buku a few years back and was surprised at how much fun it was, maybe because my expectations were so low.
But if he is big enough to play the What field LN, then Bonnaroo will definitely put him on the Which to make things as miserable as possible for everyone.
I was there, that crowd was HUGE. I was able to walk out to my car, eat a snack, get to know a girl I had just met, and then get a spot ON THE RAIL for Daedelus (one of the best shows that weekend) because literally everybody at the festival, except for maybe a hundred people, went to Calvin Harris. He is huge, but he is not worth the crowd, plus he would have so much competition if he got the LN which spot (which he would) that I'd seriously judge anyone who chose that show over the other options.

Truth. Although I did enjoy the Calvin Harris set I saw, and I believe Bonnaroo could do way worse in terms of big name EDM (Steve Aoki, Zedd, Porter Robinson), I can't imagine the LN lineup being so bad that I would end up settling for Calvin Harris on the Which.
Of course another possibility is they put him in the Pre-HL Which spot, a la Zedd in the prior year.

Listening to it now, the one thing ya gotta love is that the entire tracklist is deadmau5 songs

I liked it when he used to mash Professional Griefers with Harder Better Faster Stronger back in the day. But he shouldn't be doing that at a show that's being streamed out to promote himself.

That's actually exactly where I think he would play. Probably overlapping with another major act on the What stage.

Yeah... Porter Robinson and his LIVE SET would be way worse than Calvin Harris...
At least know what you're talking about if you plan on talking shit about artists.

Not talking shit, just stating my preference. I've seen both Steve Aoki and Porter live, and have similar issues with both of them. The music never calms down, its just 1,000MPH in your face nonstop. I understand why people dig that its just not for me. Zedd I'm not crazy about just because its boring to me.
And I actually enjoy some of the tracks Porter has produced, but the couple of live sets I've caught just haven't turned me on.

FWIW Porter Robinson is now trying to be M83 and it's actually not terrible. It's not great either, but it's way more palatable than it used to be.

Cool. Like I said, don't talk shit when you don't know what the artist is doing. He is on his first tour in his rebranding as a LIVE artist. It's a live show, not a DJ set.
Dear god, are you Porter Robinson in disguise cause you're taking it to heart. If so, I just wanna say, you sucked before you released this new album, your new work is alright, but I've yet to your new live show. But let me support the other guy in saying calm the quack down, he didn't realize the you were in the process of entirely overhauling your image/music and had only caught a caught a couple shizty performances by you back before you tried to become this new version of yourself. Also, I wanna say that I enjoy new Porter more than new Phi

I know Bonnaroo is a hippy fest but Jesus Christ I barely even said anything. Hell, I didn't say a single thing as a positive for Porter or a single thing that could be classified as getting heated up. I didn't realize Caps Lock for a single word was a such a big deal here. You should take a stroll through the Coachella boards.

I frequent the coachella boards as well, so I can deal with the biggest pricks and dish it out too, but that doesn't mean I want to see inforoo turn into the same war torn battle grounds that are the coachella boards. I just wanted to mess with you and I wanted to make a joke about new phi. I don't care what you do, but I do think it's funny that you jump his ass just cause he doesn't know that an artist is tempting to re-brand himself. Calm downnnn.
Also bonnaroo isn't a hippy fest anymore (haven't you heard Taylor Swift is headlining 2015)
What in the fuck do I have to do with any of this?
I was comparing your transformation from old phi -> new phi to Porter robinson's attempt to redefine himself. Honestly, he's probably the front runner at this point (though not by much)

I swear I just heard/saw an interview with Porter where now he is going on and saying that he can't wait to get back to big high-energy festival style sets. I think this guy might have depression or bipolar disorder. Didn't he do a self imposed ban of himself over to Japan because he was having anxiety and couldn't deal with doing big festival shitzy sets over and over? and now after making a new album and touring for it he wants to go back to what he did before? The hell is that all about?
And I actually saw him fall of 2013 at a festival here in Columbus and while it was fun and what not, he didn't do a whole lot that would have made him stand out had the entire thing been just DJ's as opposed to bands and rap acts as well.

It's all good man, I think the tone of your initial post just came off as unnecessarily aggressive. I see you have a good amount of posts here but I don't know you so I don't know how to read your posts, so as a result I'm like "woah this guy is really defensive about Porter Robinson".
Think about inforoo this way: we are a bar. In this bar a lot of people hang out on a daily basis. As a result, you get to know these people. So if @rorybbellows or Delicious Meatball Sub or Druid gives me shit for something I said, I get a good laugh out of it, or consider it calmly and possibly reconsider my stance, because I know these people (at least their online personas), I know how they interact with others, I understand and respect their opinions on music.
But when you come in, this is how it goes down in my head. I'm sitting at a table in this bar with a variety of inforoo'ers who have an interest in what electronic artists will play Bonnaroo this year. I express my preference to not see Porter Robinson at bonnaroo due to me finding his prior shows underwhelming. Since I don't know you, it's kind of like you walked into the bar right when I was saying that, pointed a finger at me, and said "don't talk shit about Porter Robinson, you don't know what you are talking about". Imagine if that happened in real life. At this point, that one statement is all I know about you. Me and probably others at the table are, again, like "woah, this guy is really defensive about Porter Robinson, whats his deal?"
A better way to approach it would be exactly like Juggs did, by assuming I probably haven't followed Porter's changes lately, and informing me that his style has changed, and I might appreciate it more now.

Your internet persona is kind of a tool.
I'm not sure why shots are being fired at me but, please, elaborate?

FWIW I asked Deadmau5 during one of his live streams about Bonnaroo and he hadn't been asked. Just said he had a fine time last time he was there and went on to tell a story about how they found women's makeup products on his tour manager the last time they were there.
