I was really disappointed in the result. It's crazy the amount of shit Van Gaal is taking in the media for the loss, but I don't think it's really his fault. No, they shouldn't be losing at home to Swansea, but Manchester United really just doesn't have that many quality players this year outside of their Rooney, RVP, and Mata. They lost their two best defenders, and the midfield has been beyond inconsistent since last year. It sucks saying this as a United fan but I try to be realistic. Unless they go out and sign a Di Maria, Hummels, Vidal, and/or Cuadrado, I don't see them making much of an impact this year.
Also, Barcelona is scary good. Having three of the top 10 goal scorers in the world playing together is just unfair

I don't really follow EPL so I can't comment too much. I just really don't like Rooney or Man U. for fairly arbitrary reasons.
La Liga is my league of choice, but I think it's going to fall back to being a battle between Real Madrid and Barca this year like so many past seasons. Atl Madrid may pull a surprise or two, but I'll reserve judgement until I see them in action tonight.
Mostly I'm excited for Champions League to really get underway. Should be a brilliant season.

Anyone catch the opening weekend? Malaga and Athletic was an utter joke, horrible officiating. Sevilla and Valencia was a pretty great game as well, very exciting. Barca looked great. Messi is back in form and Munir is going to be great.
What really stood out was the horrible officiating in most every game. It's somewhat expected in La Liga, but this was a whole new level.
What do you think of the people saying they should already sack Van Gaal?
Wasn't he almost sacked before Christmas at Bayern as well?
Give him a chance I suppose... my first thought was that the league was just a lot tougher this year (which is true) but losing 4-0 to a team 2 divisions below you (regardless of who MUFC started) is a bit ridiculous.

Group E is brutal. Bayern will advance, but any other of those three could make it out. Especially considering City's history of performing poorly in CL
Champions League thoughts; going to be some awesome matchups: Real/Liverpool, Arsenal/Dortmund, Bayern/Man City, and Barca/PSG.
Substituting Manchester United for Liverpool, those exact matches all took place last year. Also, Ajax have been in a group with either Real Madrid or Barcelona the last 5 years.
Not that the draw process is going to be changed, but I think it's interesting of how fixtures keep repeating themselves because of how rigid the pots and are.
First off they scored in the 90th minute to send it to extra time. Then in the 119th minute Ludogoret's GK got a red. Ludogorets had already subbed 3 players, so CB Cosmin Moti went on goal. Managed to save a corner kick and sent it to penalties. Then proceeded to score his PK and save 2 giving them the win.
With Xabi leaving I expect hope for an even more impressive victory this time around.
Right they're in shambles with those other bums they have in midfield....
Hmm.. I missed the part where I said Xabi was their sole midfielder... Oh yeah, because I didn't. Alonso was a huge asset and it'll hurt to lose him regardless of who else they have. Now move along and let me hate Real in peace.

Just making the point that I think they'll be more than ok without him. A Liverpool win, home or away, would be a massive achievement.

Also Messi had another great game, but even better was the performance by Barca's academy players. The whole game was great to watch though and I thought Villa was gonna pull it out a couple times.
