Carlo Fantastico! Carlo Magnifico! Carlo - Oh no!
Just another reminder that if you aren't a fan of a top football club, things are really stacked against you. A terrible roster filled with dead weight and high wages finishes 10th in the Prem this season (with dreadful home losses littering the results) and Carlo is off to Madrid again. Hard to see who replaces him.

yeah it sucks you’re losing him, but when real calls it’s hard to say no. I could see Eddie Howe being a good move

No Eddie Howe! That's the sentiment among Evertonians at least.

Suppose this is a glass half full vs. half empty sort of thing, but IMO it shows the power of the premier league. Everton generally has a small chance of even making the Europa in a given year, and they both have the respect needed to get Carlo in the first place, and more importantly, the funds to pay Carlo. Inter Milan won the damn Scudetto, and they are firesale-ing their club and hiring a very cheap manager, while Everton I'm sure, will have a significant budget to play with to hire their next manager

Lotta truth to this. It's just disappointing because Carlo seemed to be loving life on Merseyside, had wanted to finish his contract and stay beyond, etc, but then a freak confluence of events leads to Madrid wanting to hire him again (it really seems like not many upper echelon clubs would give him a shot after Bayern and Napoli). It stings a bit. A 10th place finish wasn't what was wanted, but there were certainly highs in 2020-21 (not the least of which is the highest point total for a 10th place finisher since the mid-80s, but also breaking hexes at Anfield, Tottenham, Arsenal). Just seems like the next manager hire is going to be monumentally important, especially with Bramley Moore Docks/stadium construction starting in August.
Let’s fucking goooooooo. McKennie is a monster and Horvath was great.
Yep, both were fantastic (and Steffen grew into the game before the injury). McKenzie looked shaky (after his opening gaffe which obviously was horrible) but I think we need to stick by him and let him grow. Dest doesn't seem to want to defend, so they are probably going to have to use wing backs if he's in the XI. Glad to get Timmy Weah cap tied, though his position was interesting - I was hoping he'd battle with Sargent for the #9 role.
